Julatten Hotel is a great spot for a cold drink and a lovely meal, with live music on the weekends. 9 Mile Store is 2km from your site and has fuel, some groceries items and takeaway food if you don’t feel like cooking. Mossman is only 18km away for most other supplies and services.

Once just a cane paddock, this beaut patch has been lovingly brought to life with over 700 native trees planted, it’s now a little bush oasis – full of native birds, bush tucker, and good vibes. Just a cruisy 20-minute drive from the Cairns CBD, Highleigh Farm is the perfect launch pad to explore the region. We’ve got roomy, grassed sites (yep, we keep ’em green year-round thanks to irrigation), friendly chooks and guinea fowl strutting about the gardens, and horses always keen for a scratch and a yarn. There’s a mini pump track for the ankle-biters, a big shady communal area with a BBQ shelter, firepit, and plenty of open space for kids to run wild and your furry mates to stretch their legs. The whole joint’s securely fenced and gated, so you can kick back with peace of mind. Our big-rig-friendly sites come with individual power and water outlets, but if you’re more the off-grid type, you can book an unpowered site too. Either way, there’s plenty of space to spread out and soak in the serenity. Heads up: We don’t have toilets or showers onsite, so you’ll need to be fully self-contained. But don’t stress – the nearest dump point is just around the corner at Greenpatch Campground.

Directly opposite the public boat ramp access to the Great Barrier Reef, I have a fenced camping area that includes one cabin (which has an outside flush toilet and a hot/cold shower), Campsites includes, one site with water only and three sites with water and power. Telstra phone reception is available. It is a fisherman's dream location. Pets are allowed but has to be on leash at all times. 4WD only as access is difficult for 2WD vehicles.

What a special little gem of a campsite .. our site had tap water and power , and plenty of room for our ute and camper trailer setup . Peaceful river with sandy bank is only 50 m down some steps. Kayaks, canoes and sun lounge are provided too . Judy and Don are great hosts and very welcoming onto their picturesque property ... not our first time here and we will be back again and again. VERY hard to beat !

Two years ago we stayed at the Barron River Getaway and we had such an incredible time that we decided to return. Same as before, we had an amazing experience staying on Judy and Don’s property. Our hosts were warm and inviting, and with a large and lush lawn overlooking the Barron River, it was the perfect place for our student group to spread out. We enjoyed watching the abundant birds and marsupials on the property, swimming in the river, and sitting around the campfire while having enriching cultural exchanges with our hosts and the guests they brought. Don and Judy don’t just know the local history, they’re a part of it, and have played an important role in making Kuranda what it is today. We are so grateful for the hospitality and flexibility they showed us, and their farm is a great place for any group gathering.

Loved Hartley's Creek. Dean was super friendly and knowledgeable. We had a great spot over looking the creek and close to the deck which looks out over the creek. The facilities were clean and the grounds really well looked after. Wangetti Beach was close and a great place to walk along at low tide. We really enjoyed our stay.

Loved the location. Easy to get there and a beautiful stop. The host Judy is lovely. Couldn't have been happier. Quiret stop surrounded by rain forest. Manicured camping sites with drinkable water. No bindies. In the grass so had a shoeless weekend. Would be great for little children.
