Stonesthrow is a 106 acre rural property in the peaceful Illinbah Valley. Nestled between Beechmont and Canungra, we are about an hour (a stones throw) from the Gold Coast or Brisbane. Over time, the property has been used to farm goats, train racing camels and spell racehorses and is now a family hobby farm. We currently have three dogs, cows, horses and goats. We have goat food for purchase on site. 🐐
The Lower Sites are close to the beautiful shallow creek that meanders its way through the property. These sites have access to facilities - toilets, shed, kettle, fridge and a sink. Most of these sites are suitable for 2WDs and some sites are accessible to caravans.
The Elevated Sites are located higher up, with stunning views of the valley. These sites are only accessible by 4WD and require you to BYO sealed, chemical camping TOILET and ensuite tent. Off-road camper trailers can access these sites however NO caravans.
🐾 Friendly dogs are welcome and must be kept on a lead when in close proximity to the cottage due to free range chickens.

The Magic Pond is a private property, not a commercial business. The land is suitable for self-sufficient campers only. THERE ARE NO AMENITIES, YOU NEED TO BRING OR HIRE YOUR OWN TOILET, WITHOUT ONE YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE. No dumping of waste is permitted on the property. The closest dump point is Caboolture Showgrounds (140 Beerburrum Road, Caboolture 4510), which is open 24/7 and approximately 15 km from The Magic Pond.

For those who prefer the comforts of home we have a bunkhouse which sleeps 10 and has electricity, water, flush toilet, shower, stove, microwave and TV.

Please note: 10 km of this route is gravel road. 4x4 vehicle access is recommended.
Option 2:
From the Centenary Freeway roundabout, at ripley head 21 km along Ripley Road, which continues and changes name to Undullah Road.
This route is 4x4 access is recommended with some narrow bends – please drive to conditions. We do have 2 wheel drives make the journey !

-Push bikes,
Brisbane Valley Rail Trail is 5min away if you jump on at Borallon Station Rd. Some cattle tracks for the kids to ride along in the paddock also.
-Wivenhoe, Somerset Dam in the area for water sports
-Wildlife watching, this paddock sustains a large variety of native animals, if you’ve got a keen eye
-Bottle Tree pub is just down the road, - bit more than walking distance tho :)

Feel free to swim, kayak or SUP in the dam and enjoy exploring the property on foot. We ask that you don’t drive around to explore, strictly on foot only. Please also respect the owners privacy and don’t drive up the driveway to the top of the hill, only go to and from the campsite.
Dogs allowed, on leash when moving about the property.
Firewood available for purchase upon request.

Belmont Basecamp was easy access . Close to the city . It had power and water no other facilities . Nice green grass . It was at the beginning of a caravan storage yard . Some people came to pick up or drop of their vans . It was a good location for what we needed , would stay again

Handy low cost base to visit. Brisbane City. We never saw the owner during our stay but luckily ran into one of the caravan owners when driving into the property (the land has around 15-20 caravans stored on site) who let us know where to pull up. There is power and water available to hook up to next to the shed out the back, there is a fire wood storage area which could do with a tidy up as it feels like a snakes dream and it's right next to your campsite. Kids were entertained as there is a large Tennis/basketball court on site as well as a tree swing. About 25mins from the city centre if you avoid the toll road, the property is under the flight path of the airport but it wasn't terribly noisy, you can hear a bit of road noise when it's quiet at night from the high which isn't far from the property either but nothing that keep us away. Overall good spot for a cheap get away to Brisbane!

We loved our spot at Lagoon Lane at Lakeview. It was private, picturesque and full of interesting and melodious birdlife. The whole site is well set up for families with lots of water slide fun, playground, table tennis etc. Walking around the lake, everywhere was tidy and clean and there was plenty of space between campers. We didn't get to meet the owners, however, they've done a great job making this an attractive, private and peaceful place to camp.

Lagoon Lane is perfect site away from other campers, the only negative was we found the firewood was really hard to burn, and that’s being really picky other than that we would definitely stay at this site again.
