Hold it Flats is a 120 acre property that borders the beautiful O'Connell River that has water all year round. Take a walk around the property to check out some of the creatures that have been built out of scrap metal and bush bars that have been built all around the property.
There is nice shady trees, green grass and flat camping sites right beside the river with hot showers and flushing toilets. There is plenty of room and some great tracks for the kids and the big kids to ride their push bikes on. The swimming hole is about 2 meters deep and has big shady trees on the edge. There is also enough room for kids to bring their kayaks and have a paddle along the river.
We have some hiking tracks up around the hills of our property that have amazing views of the area.
All campsites can be provided with their own fire pit. You just pick your spot and we will bring a portable fire pit to you. Fire wood can be purchased at the property. All rubbish must be taken with you, there are no rubbish bins provided.

Located conveniently 45kms south of Townsville and Magnetic Island ferry terminal,45km north of Ayr and 8km north of Giru.
The 20-acre dam is low at the moment (August '26) and grass is dry. We are dependent on rain for filling the dam. OK for kayaking or SUP. Kayaks x3 on bank for public use. Plenty of weed for the birds!
On arrival, powered sites, please phone our on-site caretaker Dylan, and he can assist you to find a spot that suits you and your group. Unpowered sites can choose anywhere suitable for them.
We do have internet reception. Occasionally reception can be weak depending on what the network is doing. Generally, it is not a problem.
Bring Mosquito/sandfly spray or coils, especially if camping by the lake.
Campfires allowed. Wood for sale, $15 cash per milk crate, from caretaker Dylan. Please return crates to camp kitchen for re-filling.
Fire rings are available at the sites. Please leave them where they are as moving them is destroying the surrounding areas. Thankyou.

Due to our wildlife all dogs must be on a lead or tethered by a rope and under owners' control at all times.
Dog poo must be picked up. No one wants to step in your dog's poo.

Calen is a small cane growing and cattle town with a general store, pharmacy, service station, butcher and the local pub. Zarby's cafe is a short drive away if you would like to dine in for breakfast or lunch in a retro style setting.
Each site fee is for 2 adults and kids stay at no cost.

Ben Lomond Station is an 1800 acre working cattle station 25 minutes south of Bowen and 35 minutes north of Airlie Beach on the Whitsundays. We border onto Eden Lassie Creek which has tidal ocean access for saltwater fishing and there is an abundance of estuary fishing and crab spots available.
We are a nature based camping area. Cleared shady camping spots are available for fully self contained campers as there are currently no facilities available so you must have own camping toilet and leave no trace.
Access to the camping area is for 4WD only with caravans off road and high clearance. However, camp 6 and 8 can be accessed with 2WD.
Firewood is available for a small fee or you can collect any fallen timber yourself. There is a ban on cutting down any standing timber even it is dead.
There is plenty of room to run for the kids and dogs though we do ask that your pet not annoy our cattle or other campers.
Ben Lomond station has an abundance of flora and fauna such as burdekin plum trees, mango trees, wallabies, kangaroos and bird and fish species.

Heading North- Looking forward to your stay. Directions to Ben Lomond- GPS directions will take you to Glen Eden and Longford Park, this is the wrong road. Stay on the Bruce highway heading north from Proserpine, you’ll go past the Pie Face servo and over the Eden Lassie Creek. On the hill there is a sign on the left stating Jochheim road and Ben Lomond Hipcamp turn to your right. Follow the gravel road, past a high house ( please drive slowly as the road is dusty) and then come to our up and over grid with Ben Lomond sign on it. On the sign is my mobile number give me a call as you come over.
Heading South- Looking forward to your stay. Directions to Ben Lomond- Approximately 20- 25 minutes south of Bowen, you will cross Yeates creek, go past Eden Lassie road on your right, (stay on the highway,) turn on the left - there is a Jochheim Road sign and also a Ben Lomond Hipcamp sign on the top of the hill. ( if you go past the pie face servo you have gone too far). Turn down Jochheim Road and follow the gravel road, past a high house ( please drive slowly as the road is dusty) and then you will come to an up and over grid, you’ll see my mobile number on the sign next to the grid and give me a call.

We are located on Tully Mission Beach Road with the bike path between Wongaling Beach and Mission Beach running right past the front gates, so a quick ride into town and plenty of space to bring your boat!
We your hosts, (Nancy and Shane) operate the adjoining Garden Centre and Raw Materials yard so there is always something happening and with vast local knowledge of what to do and where to go, we are only happy to help.
Opened in September 2024 we have planted a tropical fruit forest plantation as well as citrus orchard and with our 50 beautiful free-range chooks (pets) you will have them wandering around freely, clucking away happily.

2. Noise Consideration – Out of respect for our close neighbours, please keep noise to a minimum—especially in the evenings. Strictly no loud noise after 9:00 PM.
3. Campfire Safety – Fires are only permitted in the supplied fire pit, or in your own fire pit, in accordance with local fire ban rules and regulations. Please ask us if you are unsure.
4. Water Use – Our property relies solely on tank water, which is a limited resource. Please use water thoughtfully—for drinking and washing up only. Water is not to be used for filling caravans or washing vehicles.
5. Rubbish & Recycling – Please use the bins provided for rubbish and recycling while visiting. Do not leave any rubbish outside in plastic bags or around your campsite, as the local wildlife loves a free meal!
6. Property Access – This is a shared property. We kindly ask that guests respect our privacy and stay within the designated campsite and bush shed areas. Please do not enter private zones beyond these spaces.

The Cairns region has so much to offer. Head out to one of the eateries overlooking the water or chill out on the promenade with its free swimming pool. Take a scenic tour up the mountain to Kuranda and check out their iconic markets. Go snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef or enjoy a boat cruise to an island.
The campsite features a large flat grassy area with great access for 2WDs and all types of camping vehicles from caravans to campervans and motorhomes. Plenty of room to turn your vehicle around and a lockable gate means your campsite is secure.
We welcome self-contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower and drinking water as we have NO ACCESSIBLE AMENITIES.
Please, if you do not have a toilet- this property is not for you.
Our front paddock is visited nightly by lots and lots of wallabies. We have fantastic sunrises and sunsets here. You’ll really love the great views we have towards the east and west.
Recently the owners of the paddocks to our north have started developing them, and we now have a solid fence along the north boundary to protect our/your privacy.
Please be aware that on some days there can be noise from the work site from 7am. Fortunately it's not everyday and they are usually gone by 2:30pm.
We are still a peaceful campsite with plenty of bird and animal life only 10 minutes from the centre of Cairns and the Wallabies still come to visit, on any given night we can have up to 70 of them in the paddock!
No campfires without a firepit and no pets please.

Loved our 3 night stay here. Property is very well maintained and amenities are clean and modern. Felt very safe here. Free use of washing machine and dryer which is nice. Dean is super friendly and very helpful with ideas of things to do around here. Worth the hike to Flat Rock and Hartley’s Creek Falls. Would recommend this stay to everyone, especially if you’re wanting to base yourself near Palm Cove, without the price tag!

Absolutely loved this bush camp ! Spent 3 nights here & wished we had more time. Really spacious sites with fire pits. All sites are well away from each other for maximum privacy. Lovely thick grass on all the sites, with concrete pad (on my site) for the van to sit on.
The park is still a work in progress (camp kitchen to come), but the site areas are established and very private.
Only down sides is no water or power to any of the sites, and no toilets or even rubbish bins. You must be completely self sufficient and take your rubbish (and toilet business) away too. But then the cost is cheap!
The one water tap (potable) in the camping area, which you can fill your van from, is guarded by a very scary turkey, who the owner assures me is a very big softy. Haha. I didn’t want to find out. I accessed a water tap in the garden centre area instead, to transfer water into the van via a bladder in the car.
Very peaceful place a little way out of town. Would definitely stay again!

We had a wonderful stay. On arrival Sophie at reception was very welcoming and super helpful sharing great local knowledge of the island and recommending things to do! We were a little apprehensive of the camp being part of the hostel but it was actually really lovely, a peaceful camp site, a lovely mix of people young and older, great amenities and nice bar. Fantastic location just a 5 minute walk to horseshoe bay with a few nice eateries/bars.
