Great stopover - I would definitely stay longer next time.
Big grassy site around the dam, no levelling required where we parked, easy access and only 10min from Bowen. 👌

While it really is just a field with a dam it was perfect for us. Flat open space away from the highway, minimal road noise, one other camper.. Makes camping with a dog easy.

A peaceful spot just 12 minutes from central Bowen. We loved the beautiful sunrises and sunsets, the horses nearby, and the friendly visits from Bug the dog, who quickly became a highlight of our stay.
At $22 per night, it feels a little expensive for what is essentially a basic piece of land off a main road. However, accommodation in Bowen is generally quite pricey, and this was still a much more affordable option than the local caravan parks.
Overall, a great budget-friendly choice if you’re looking for somewhere peaceful to park up near Bowen without paying caravan park prices. 🚐☀️🐴🐾

Great spot around a nice pond with mountains in the background. We were lucky with awesome sunsets and sunrises, as well as dark skies for astrophotography. Location is ideal for visiting Bowen and surrounding area. Hosts are great as well.

Great quiet little spot, beautiful sunsets as described and far enough from the road that you dont get any traffic noise.
Once the trees have grown and there is some shade, this would be a perfect spot to stay if visiting the bowen area.

Camping on the edge of the dam at Menilden Farm was exactly the kind of quiet, peaceful break we were chasing. Waking up to glassy water and birdsong felt like a reset in itself. We received a warm welcome by the owners’ two dogs — ridiculously cute, friendly and convinced they were part of our camp crew.
Only a few minutes out of Bowen, but it feels worlds away. We loved it so much we ended up extending our stay. A beautiful, calm spot that’s easy to settle into and hard to leave.

Great spot not far out of Bowen. Suited us perfectly for a quiet overnighter. Would be a perfect spot to stay, unhitch your van to go and explore the region.

Lovely peaceful stay. Very quiet and a beautiful outlook. Close to town, but also far enough away. Lots of dragonflies about keeping the mozzie numbers down! Thank you for not charging for children, would stay again 😊

The area allocated for camping was probably no more than 1 acre out of the 38 acres, there was little shade and no windbreaks with a couple of small trees. The dam was tiny, surrounded by long grass. I was the only one there which I didn’t mind. I stayed for 2 nights and the first night I was sitting outside in the dark, frightened by 2 dogs running at me from ‘nowhere’, one dripping wet, super friendly at least, hard to get rid of. They also visited me the next night. I don’t know where they came from & didn’t meet the owner to find out. For the price, I have stayed at better.

Perfect place for my husband and I with two large dogs and a small fluffy hmm dog.
Plenty of space, one of our dogs is obsessed with water. Our camp was right by a gorgeous dam, she swam all evening. We are retired farmers and hate caravan parks, this was Heaven, after spending a night in a caravan park In Bowen, we could not wait to escape.
Camp was extremely well maintained and mown, come fully self contained as it says on all blogs.
I give it a 6 out of 5 for honesty, price and being very honest with no amenities.

Excellent camp area with a great host in Matt. I had to leave because we had a lot of rain. When i told Matt, he had no problem refunding my remaining days. I will stay again but next time it will be in winter.
