The Cooke Family welcomes you to “Hopevale”. A beautiful 113 acre property bordered by Wrattens National Park at the edge of the world in the peaceful Widgee district of greater Gympie. Jason, a landscaper by trade, and Jacinta a teacher by profession, met many years ago at a national Christian youth conference. Four beautiful children later and many years down the track, they bought Hopevale as a blank cattle fattening property in 2018. After much hard work, they have made it what it is today, with plans to continually improve. We have different camp options available, one of which is set up for those guests also wanting to stay with horses or just have a larger group booking. Guests will have access to a toilet and shower throughout their stay which is within walking distance from each of the campsites. Campfires and pets are welcome. The property has only had 4 farming owners in its 110 odd years since it was first surveyed and selected in 1915. The Hillcoats, Bishops, Cotters, and now the Cooke’s. The families over the years have used the property for timber getting, dairy, beef and small cropping. The property is geologically rich with volcanic soils, sandstone escarpments full of caves and overhangs. The mighty Wrattens Falls sits to the back of the property in the National Park and is a sight to behold in full flow. It feeds the head waters of the western branch of Widgee Creek which meanders through the property. The subtropical dry rainforest clad mountains are dominated by the majestic Bunya and Hoop pines and are a testament to what once was covering the entire property before being cleared for farming. Remnant riparian creek lines are botanically rich and diverse holding Red and White Cedar, Teak, Silky oak and many other coveted timber trees harvested back in the day. There are many species of animals and birds that call Hopevale home. From water dragons, frogs and fish in the creeks, monitors, wallabies, deer, koalas, possums and phascogales in the eucalypts. We have 69 acres within the Barambah Wine Trail (which is located in Moffatdale, near Murgon, QLD). Our property backs onto the Bjelke Petersen Dam. Our property offers direct access to Lake Barambah from your large grassy campsite. You can enjoy uninterrupted views of the lake while relaxing around your camp fire. The lake itself is wide and deep, and safe for swimming (properly supervised) and all your favourite water activities. There is also basic access to launch small boats. Dusty Hill Wines is just down the road and offers local wine tasting and some great meals in their restaurant. There are also some other wineries in the area you can explore and enjoy. If you want to get your heart rate up, we are 25 minutes from Kinombi Falls where you can enjoy a number of stairs to get to the top. Great place, stayed for five nights as this was our second time, lovely big swimming dam with a board jump, kids would love it, there is little running creek, more so when rain has been, very pieceful, a few marsh flies, Jacinta and jason are lovely. We will be back.

The Big Fig tree was definitely one of the best spots to camp lovely shade from the heat. Friendly goanna roaming around. Nice and close to ammenities that were kept clean daily. Little walk to the swimming hole.

My family and I loved camping at lake view camping. It was great for the whole family, kids loved swimming, husband loved fishing and stand up paddle boarding, myself and baby loved the beautiful sunsets on the dam and we all enjoyed the restaurant across the lakes for dinner. Was very quiet and set up so close to the dam. Loved our two night here.

Sensational as usual. Place to myself, creek was running, water was cold on those hot days and storms at night. Too hot to do the hikes but I was content with sitting under the little fig tree reading and swimming the day away.

1 night at Waverley Historical Homestead

Fab stay @ Waverley Homestead, would highly recommend. We were lucky enough to have the entire place to ourselves, which made it very special - so quiet, and with stunning views over the paddocks, looking towards the distant mountains. Great for individual campers who like company, but would also be perfect for a small group of friends, as the campfire in the middle makes it great for socializing. Really enjoyed the company of Mikey - resident dog - who is such a sweetheart and hung with us until Gav came home to reclaim him. Gav is lovely - popped down to make sure we had all we needed, and we had a good chat, then he left us to enjoy the solitude. Awesome sunset, and although it was a super hot day, it gradually cooled down and we were able to have a wee campfire, which was magical. Stars were spectacular throughout the night and birdlife lovely to watch in the trees. Plenty of shade for us in our van and flat ground to park up on. We enjoyed a fabulous weekend by the lake. Didn't see the local platypus family but the abundance of birdlife and endless tranquility made this campsite worth the effort to get there. An unexpected 6am storm on the last day put the camper trailer through its paces but it survived well. Laying in bed watching and listening to the storm rollover the lake was awesome. We loved it and the hosts were wonderful. Thanks Neil and Joss!!

We didn't make it to our camp site due to my car being not suitable. But we made it a couple of KM in and me and my daughters were stunned by the tranquillity of this beautiful property. I wish we made it the final 10km! If I'm ever equipped with a 4x4 I'll 110% be making this place my first destination. Thanks again for allowing us into your space!

The property is a beautiful spot with some gorgeous views and wildlife. The swimming hole was a favourite as it was so much fun! The waterfall walk was very refreshing, it will look amazing when it is in flow. The doggies had the best time with plenty of space to run around. My group of 6 stayed at Big Fig which was a lovely spot with plenty of room. The bathroom was also rather pleasant with plenty of hot water. We would definitely come and stay again!

5 Star camping ground!! Would definitely recommend to everyone, host came to welcome us as soon as we arrived. Plenty of activities to do there and room to create your own fun. Campsite spacing was really nice, not so close from other campers. Would definitely be back when given the chance!

Had an absolute wonderful stay down by the lake at Tremayne. Fantastic hosts Neil & Joss, guide you to your campsite and swttle you in for your stay. Heading down to the lakeside is some steep downhillbsections and if your towing a van need to take some time to manuvre vehicle etc, but well worth the the stay if you have the skill. Thanks again guys, we'll be back maybe after our lap in 18mths. Cheers Darren & Julie
