Escape to the wide open countryside of The Western Downs and experience the magic of our historical farm stay camping site. Immerse yourself in the tranquility of the breathtaking sunsets to the west and explore the majestic Bunya Mountains National Park just 20 mins away. Boasting ancient Bunya Pine trees, scenic walks and waterfalls, you have the best of both worlds, melting into nature up in the mountains and being on a rural country property. Bring your hats, boots and marshmallows to toast on the open campfires. Waverley Homestead circa 1908, is steeped in charm and character spanning 116 years as an original working cattle farm. Set amongst the shady trees overlooking the dam, with resident wood ducks, the property will take you back to yesteryear where you can escape with nature. Enjoy afternoon sunsets with a beverage across the fields, whilst taking in views to the famous Bunya Mountains. Wide open skies sit over the pastures with beef cattle, sheep, and horses grazing. Meet our resident peacocks, chickens , ducks and guinea fowl and escape the hustle. Enjoy fresh farm eggs from the chickens and when in season, pick kalamata olives from the trees that line the stables and camp kitchen. The property boasts an elegantly restored country estate homestead which overlooks the orchard growing seasonal fruit for picking, including cherries, peaches, nectarines, pears, mulberries, and citrus. After a day of adventure on the farm or up in the mountains, unwind at your campsite and discover the perfect blend of nature and history at our unique outback retreat. Groups are more than welcome as we have unlimited space to relax and unwind with friends and family so come, enjoy and create memories at magical 'Waverley Homestead"

The Pines campsite is very roomy and located in a more secluded area where the shady pine trees grow. You will be overlooking the lush pastures towards Kaimkillenbun, with grazing beef cattle and to the North stunning views of the Bunya Mountains and sheep paddocks. Spectacular big sky sunsets are appreciated from this angle. There is access to a toilet nearby, a short 5 min walk away. The site is flat and grassy suitable for tents, caravans and RVs in dry weather only, with private gated access to your hideaway campsite.

Bunya View overlooks the sheep and cattle paddock where you can enjoy a cold beer or a wine and cheese board of an afternoon. With breathtaking sunsets on the horizon and views to the Bunya Mountains, this level site is adjacent to the sheep grazing on the open pasture. Bunya View offers all types of camping options from tents to RVs and everything in between. A campfire is provided for toasting marshmallows on the cooler nights, and firewood can be provided as an extra at the time of booking.

We had a great stay here. Beautiful countryside and awesome sunsets. Loved seeing the animals, horses, dogs, cattle and sheep. Close to Bunya mountains. Just a lovely tranquil place.

This place was so quaint, interesting and beautiful! Surrounded by lush paddocks, see horses in the morning. A beautiful little doggo named Mike welcomed me when I arrived. Definitely somewhere worth checking out and staying

Farm stays are good but for a select few. The sunrise and sunsets were fantastic and although the days are hot the nights cool down and opportunity to use the large fireplace. Lots of Bindi so wear good soled shoes. Not thongs. The Bun hotel is close and Dalby 20 minutes away. Coomba Falls are good but about 55 minutes drive. We were only campers so that was good

Lovely open flat green land with clear views to mountains and plains. Easily accessible and the hosts were welcoming and friendly. The historical house is a majestic centre piece of the property.

Fab stay @ Waverley Homestead, would highly recommend. We were lucky enough to have the entire place to ourselves, which made it very special - so quiet, and with stunning views over the paddocks, looking towards the distant mountains. Great for individual campers who like company, but would also be perfect for a small group of friends, as the campfire in the middle makes it great for socializing. Really enjoyed the company of Mikey - resident dog - who is such a sweetheart and hung with us until Gav came home to reclaim him. Gav is lovely - popped down to make sure we had all we needed, and we had a good chat, then he left us to enjoy the solitude. Awesome sunset, and although it was a super hot day, it gradually cooled down and we were able to have a wee campfire, which was magical. Stars were spectacular throughout the night and birdlife lovely to watch in the trees. Plenty of shade for us in our van and flat ground to park up on. Thanks for sharing your lovely land with us Gav & Andria, we'll be back. Melissa & Michael

Thanks to Gav and Andria for a lovely stay at there property. It’s a very peaceful and quiet stay but not far from the mountains if you like hiking or into town for some shopping. Will be back in the future.

Absolutely stunning sunset views and nice and secluded. Took the advantage of the total fire ban and went to the bun pub for dinner. Awesome old pub with $25 steak night on Thursday nights. Very relaxing atmosphere with the sound of cows all around. Also a great show of stars at night. Would be great for small groups 4-5 camps/ vans wanting to camp together with large communal fire out in the centre of the camp area. Look out for the resident magpie as he liked to swoop even sitting having your morning coffee. Friendly attentive host with delicious fresh eggs!

Our hosts were welcoming and guided us to campsite and gave advice for where to eat in town. Behind us were a couple of beautiful horses, to the left some curious cows and in front an amazing sunset. Simple and relaxing camping and bonus to have a rustic and clean flushing toilet on site.

Was not secluded as was put with other camper and not enough room to be private so we had to face the van away from the single camp fire pit. The ground was hoof trod in our area and full of big bindis, make sure you wear shoes, thongs don’t cut it. Very tight entry into camping area be careful not to scratch your van. Def overnighter. No view of the homestead as described and didn’t feel welcome to see it.

Great open space with plenty of room for a drive thru site or large group with a big fire pit and amazing sunsets. Plenty to see around the area with the Bunya mountains up the road 20 minutes and the The Bun hotel five minutes away for a good feed and a cold beer with great service. Gav and Andria were very helpful on arrival and left us to enjoy our stay.

Thanks Gav and Andria for welcoming us onto your property. We had an awesome 5 nights camping off-grid at ‘The Pines’. The fire pit was a huge hit! The sunsets were unreal and to top it off the clear starry nights were mindblowing 🤩 We visited the local pub, ‘The Bun’ for lunch and a cold beer. The locals were friendly and we met the owner; a hilarious Irishman with a magnificent red beard! Cheers, we will be back 😊 Tracey & Lawrie

Loved our couple of nights here. Beautiful, quiet and private property. Gav was super welcoming and helpful. Very close to scenic drives through Bunya National park and quaint country towns (Maidenwell pub a must visit)

Extremely enjoyed the views and animals. The hosts were fantastic! Clean and tidy, plenty of room. Fire wood that was supplied was a great amount for the money. Only a short drive up to the Bunya mountains.

Had a wonderful time at Gav & Andria’s. We stayed for one night, wish we could have stayed longer. The grounds were super clean and well maintained. The firewood provided was of high quality and just the right amount. Cheap too! Our site had an epic sunset. Amenities block was well presented and we even got free puppy time with Michael (the dog). Will be back and hope to stay longer next time.

This is such a great place to camp with friends! The fire pit was definitely a standout! perfect for sitting around, sharing laughs, and roasting marshmallows. We also really appreciated how peaceful and family-friendly the whole area was. It had a relaxed, welcoming vibe that made the stay extra enjoyable. We’re already planning our next trip back.

Perfect spot for an overnight stay or weekend. Fires are well catered for, with an enormous fire pit and plenty of available ( fallen) wood. A super peaceful location and a full view of the universe at night. Our hosts Gavin and Andria, were terrific.

Waverley Homestead was just what we were looking for! Close to town and the bunya mountains, we had the campsite all to ourselves with beautiful sunsets. Gav and Andrea were very accomodating hosts, and provided clean facilities to use. We’ll definitely be back.

Great communication from hosts. Wouldn't recommend in winter due to mud. Great location being close to Dalby but double the price of neighbouring hipcamps with no facilities provided.

Great weekend camping

Spent a fantastic 4 days at Waverley Historic homestead. We enjoyed exploring the local area, but enjoyed just taking in the breath-taking sunset and the million star nights. Bunya's was 30 minutes away as is a few local towns and pubs. Gav and Andria were great friendly hosts. The grounds were well kept and we were free wonder around the property. Wasn't too busy for a long weekend and we had 2 nights with the whole place to ourselves. Our dog's had a ball with some areas they could run off their energy. Amenities were adequate for us, but you really need to be self contained. Flushing toilet not far away and water if you needed it to top up. Adding firewood bundle was also a great idea. Great location and vanue... we'll be back

Stars were crazy incredible. Property was okay for sleeping there but not pretty enough to stay there during the day however the Bunya Mountains are close by. The ground is very bumpy due to the cows I imagine. Toilet (out house) was okay.
