We also provide dog minding services! Photo updates supplied. Cost is $50 per day (add to your booking). All you need to do is supply your dog bed and food. Recently our guests enjoyed a trip to Fraser Island and were very impressed with the service provided. So if you love your fur baby and you still want to have a holiday experience, just come and stay here and we can enhance your stay by giving your fur babies a holiday too.
You may be moved to a different site if your chosen site is too wet. We use Good Riddance products for the midges & mozzies during summer because it works, its non toxic + deet free. We have dry firewood (hardwood) available on the verandah for $15/15kg crate. There are plenty of sites to choose from.
One vehicle = 1 site - more than 1 vehicle can fit on any of the sites.

The front 5 acres is 'home' to Kerrie and Brian, their two puppies (Jazz and Jaxi) and two cats (Bangers and Mash).
The remainder of the property (about 12 acres) comprises of flat, well grassed areas and natural bushland.
There are eight(8) well maintained, large, flat camping areas and each has its own fire pit. An initial supply of firewood will be provided.
There is no water or power throughout these camping areas, hence they are only suitable for "fully self contained" motor homes and caravans.
Apart from humans, dogs and cats, the property is inhabited by kangaroos and a variety of birdlife.
The small township of Buxton is home to a mixture of permanent residents and holiday homes. There is one general store which sells most consumables, including alcohol. They also serve up meals every Wednesday. Buxton has a great little boat ramp on the Isis River which provides easy access for river fishing or to the Coral Sea for ocean fishing.
So, if you're looking for a clean, comfortable QUIET and relaxing campsite with not too many people around then Buxton Bush Retreat many be just the place for you. No 'midges' or sand flies or dirt/sand camping sites .... all sites are flat and fully grassed and maintained.

Our property is situated on the banks of the great sandy strait just 400m from the Tuan Boat ramp with access to Fraser Island by boat or kayak. We are surrounded by Tuan State Forest and wetlands. There is a medium sized dam on the property for swimming.The Tuan Forshore has a park, BBQ area and picnic tables as well as garbage disposal.
There is plenty of space in the surrounding forests for mountain biking, motor-biking and walking. 3km down the road in Boonooroo you will find a large park with tennis court and public BBQ's. The bowls club and Golf Club just 3km away and serve meals on weekends.
This site is suitable for caravans, RV's, camper trailers. There is NO toilet facility on the property. We are VERY dog friendly and can be off lead as long as the dogs are friendly towards people and other dogs and don't bite our horses. We also have other peoples horses agisting in paddocks. Activities you can do include boating, kayaking, swimming, fishing, crabbing, walking, stand up paddle boarding, bird watching, kangaroo spotting, playing in the parks, beach tennis, mountain biking, hiking etc.
Camp sites are far from the main house and other sites so you can have camp fires and play music, use generators without worry.
Campers will need to be self contained (rubbish and toilets) and please leave your campsite the way you found it. Don't leave toilet paper or rubbish in fire pits please.
Enter / Exit the main gate by pushing the code into the key pad. Gate closes after 20 seconds once it is fully open so be quick.
NOTE: ***During Summer- November, December, January and February there are midgees (sandflies) at dusk and dawn and we do recommend midgee screening or spraying the mesh on your caravan windows as the standard mozzie mesh will not keep them out. Bring coils, a fan as they hate any breeze, bug spray and long sleeved pants and tops to wear in the evenings from about 5pm-7pm!***
*4X4's are recommended if you don't stay along the fence line as it can get muddy if there has been lots of rain. If you stay along the fence line you will be fine as the roads are compact and hard and the camp sites along this fence are higher up, they are marked with Fire Pits so camp here if you want to stay dry and get a good breeze.*

What a great spot, choice between real bush camping that feels miles away or a more open area with plenty of sun. Fun meandering tracks down to the "hidden" creek. Although the creek was normally crystal clear it was not quite swimmable but we all had a great time cruising around in the kayaks. We were the only ones there and it was very peaceful.
Firepits supplied, with the option to purchase wood. Suprising amenities a very cool little outdoor shower and the drop toilets.
Kids loved the playground and feeding the chooks scraps.

We were the only ones there this week im guessing because as it was raining on and off. It was great. The grounds were prefect even with all the rain. All the facilities are made well. Personally I hate a drop toilet but it was really clean and not smelly at all. The hosts are really great too. Very friendly and helpful. We were arriving. In the dark and Janita actually made a short video for us to show us exactly where to go once we got there. Amazing communication. We will definitely be back.

We had such a great stay! The hosts were super friendly and made everything easy from the get-go. The spot is beautiful waking up by the river and catching the sunset each night was just magic. My family loved camping at River Run Farm. The kids loved feeding the animals, slip and slide and the toad hunt, which was the biggest hit! It was nice and open so they could go biking. My son LOVED the bmx track they had. The communal kitchen area was quite handy to have, it was well stocked for things to use and clean. We will be returning soon!

We had an amazing stay at River Run Camping! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The amenities were clean and well-maintained, which made the whole experience really comfortable. The kids absolutely loved the playground, and the organised activities by the owners were a standout from fun games to animal petting and the slippery slide, there was always something to keep them entertained.
It’s clear a lot of thought and care has gone into creating a great experience for families. We’ll definitely be back and would highly recommend River Run to anyone looking for a fun, relaxed camping getaway!

Great camping spot run by a lovely family. Has toilets, showers, and camp kitchen. Can also swim in the Mary river as it is down from the dam. During school holidays they put on activities for the kids like animal feeding (horses, chickens, pigs, donkeys, cows and bulls.) animal spotlight at night. Great for star viewing.

Large sites, plenty of space. Great showers (hot and good water pressure), really nice host and fun activites for the kods over the school holidays. Will definitely add it to the return list and recommend to friends. Water access at boat ramp was dissappointing though. Too many snags for fishing and not very young child friendly for any water play. But the slip and slide helped the kids get over their disappointment pretty fast!
