Moogerah Lakeside Bush Retreat is a small family owned and operated campground on the shores of Beautiful lake Moogerah in the heart of the Scenic Rim, SEQLD.
We are conveniently located only 2km from the Cunningham Hwy and are set in a quiet bush location surrounded by the spectacular scenery of the Scenic Rim. We have a range of accommodation including powered and unpowered camp sites, group camp areas, bunk style cabins and a fully self-contained cabin.
There is never a shortage of things to do, you can take a canoe or boat out for a cruise on the lake or try your luck at some fishing. Moogerah is well known for its large Bass & Yellow belly. There is a good bushwalk at the property that takes you out to Striker point and into the gorge waterfall with spectacular views along the way. If you have a 4wd you can take a short drive up to Spicers Gap National Park. Here there is a short walk out to the Governors Chair lookout with spectacular views of the Fassifern Valley and beyond.
We currently don't have a boat ramp however once you have launched your boat at the public boat ramp we have a nice bay in front of the campground where you can anchor your boat.

Boat launch locations are available for campers at designated areas within the campsite and to comply with our SEQ Water licence:
* No parking within 20 metres of the water.
* Vehicles must stay on the designated road and cannot drive down to the boat ramp.
* After launching, vehicles and trailers must be parked back up the hill within the Pointro boundary.
* Marquees and similar structures must be at least 6 metres from the water’s edge.
* Boats may be moored during the day but must be removed overnight.
Breaches may result in fines from SEQ Water, which will be passed on to the responsible party.

- NO travelling in the back of boats, trailers, jet skis being towed

All sites are private and secluded with great views, great sunsets, and starry night skies. There is an abundance of birds and wildlife including Red Necked Wallabies, Possums, Rufus Batongs, Bandicoots and Echidnas.
There are seasonal creeks and waterfalls and wildflowers. Campers may occasionally be visited by a herd of friendly goats that like soft drink and chips. We often have baby goats and alpacas that are being hand reared which are popular with kids and adults alike.
Dogs are permitted but have to be quiet and restrained. Campfires permitted at our discretion (please ask first - depending on weather conditions). You'll need to BYO wood.
Campers MUST have their own toilet. The standard "Pack it in. Pack it out" rules apply.
All sites are accessible by STANDARD HEIGHT 2WD however 4WD may be required if towing.
There is a 'special' site reserved for Larger RVs and Caravans.

Very private and away from everyone but close to cafe and pub. You could have 20 acres all for yourself or at least a couple of private acres while camping. Four wheel drive are recommended.
All campsites are grassy, shaded. Easy access to the river. Camping, fishing, kayaking, swimming, drifting, bush walking, biking, lots of activities. Shed Cafe is down the road, Rathdowney pub is 10mins. Maroon Dam 15 mins away.

Lake view was a great spot to stay , plenty of room for ten people , the bass were plentiful , if you have kids I would suggest taking them for a fish down the bottom off the bank with a few worms or shrimp , the spangled perch go nuts down there and are super easy to catch

We saw a wide variety of wildlife, including many insects and wallabies, which made the stay feel very close to nature. Swimming in the lake was absolutely lovely, and the toilets and showers were very clean. You can really tell the owner takes great care of the campsite. It’s a place we would definitely love to visit again.

Pointro (Penthouse site) is an absolutely massive campsite with loads of space for multiple caravans. We had four vans and still had plenty of room, with mostly flat ground and a few gentle slopes to choose from. There’s also great shade under the trees for vehicles, swags, or just relaxing out of the heat while you set up red-claw pots, rig a fishing line or enjoy a beer with friends.
The toilets and showers are quite dated, but they were clean and the hot water was reliable. There’s also hot water at the outside sinks, which made washing up easy. One bonus we didn’t notice in the listing was the industrial bins provided for rubbish, which was really handy.
The only downside was the stairs leading down to the toilets. They appear to be rotting and felt unsafe, especially at night or after rain. Fixing these would make a big difference.
Overall, Pointro is a pleasant, picturesque spot with easy access to the lake and amenities. We’d definitely stay again.

Great camping spot. Facilities were good. Good access to the lake. Caretakers were amazing, extremely helpful and made our stay excellent.

Fantastic site, it’s hidden away from the main area in a secluded site. Easily fit 2 cars, 2 tents and large tarp with space to spare. Just be aware you are 150m walk from the bathroom. There is also an ant nest in the camp zone so just make sure you keep any open food well sealed.

Paul is a really friendly and available camp host. His land is beautifully looked after and you couldn’t find a better camping spot in the area. We stayed at Site 2 in the pine paddock; we had shade all day long and enjoyed walking down to the creek for walks and a dip with our dogs. Site 1 and 3 looked nice too; site 4 is probably the most secluded but it was taken this time. We would likely book that one next time!
Paul provided firewood and recommendations on local walks, lookouts and things to do in the area. There’s several waterfalls in the area and Killarney is a local small town where we enjoyed a lovely fruit sorbet and ice cream.
We had such a great time at Booyong camping and we are already looking at the calendar to plan our next visit!

Amazing location by the creek, with perfect mix of flat area and shady spots. Paul was very helpful, providing a local driving map and offering additional guided experiences on his property - perfect for visitors to the area. Firepit available, with option to purchase firewood if needed.

Wow! What a wonderful time we had at Wynola country cousins.
We stayed at the Homestead site with our horses and couldn’t have asked for a better place. Views in every direction.
Bernie even took time out of his day to show us where to ride.
