Nice place very close to the beach. The four sites are spread out nicely. Had a short and quiet stay there. Be aware that the beach walk to the turtle center (if you plan to visit there) are closed 6pm to 6am during turtle season and you will have to drive your way over there for the night Explorer tour.

Thoroughly enjoyed camping at Blue Gums! The site is very well maintained. I stayed in December so it was warm but being able to swim in the river was great. The toilet is well kept and very clean and tidy. Blue Gums was fully booked but our site was spacious with plenty of room to spread out and no invasion of privacy from our neighbours. Would recommend!

Weekend Trip to Mon Repos Pines

An excellent spot to spend a few days, Mon Repos Pines is perfectly placed to explore the area. The 4 sites are all situated along the southern fence line of a large field adjacent to the owners’ property, very quiet and just a few steps from the walk/cycle track which follows the coastline from Burnett Heads in the north to just beyond Bargara in the south. The beach close by is virtually covered by black rocks but there is a sandy strip which can be used to access the water when the tide is low (high tide covers this strip). The 4 sites are spaced out next to each other but there is not a lot of room in between each site so when they are all occupied everyone could be quite close. They only take up a small length of the fence line so it would be great if there could be more space between sites, but maybe the council does not allow this. Site 1 is nearest the pathway but is not quite as level as the other sites. We would certainly recommend this camp site to other travellers.

Absolutely beautiful grassy campsite right on the river. Very accessible, amenities were cleaner than some truck stop bathrooms I’ve been to. The fire pit was very convenient and all of the campsites were clearly numbered and very spacious. Would highly recommend.

We loved our stay. The beach was so close and beautiful. Listening to the waves crash in. It is amazing to see the turtle tracks during the day along the beach after our night at the turtle centre and it was only a short walk to the centre. A very peaceful and restful stay. Unfortunately, not all areas are vape/smoke free, this was the only let down for us.

Our family loved our four nights at this campsite. We were on site 1 and were on our own for the duration of our stay. The location is amazing; literally a 30m walk to the public footpath, and a few metres further to the ocean. There's a great sandy beach around 100m walk away, which is perfect for a high tide swim. The site itself is grassy and totally open, which is great for solar and gave the kids somewhere to safely run around. Karen was very friendly and greeted us on the afternoon we arrived, explaining some of the local attractions. We would definitely stay again when we are next in the area.

Bundaberg region

North of Burrum Heads, Bundaberg is best known as the home of iconic Aussie beverages—Bundaberg Rum and Bundaberg Ginger Beer. Factory and distillery tours are a must-do for visitors, after which you can head to coastal Bargara to camp by the beach, spot turtles at Mon Repos Conservation Park, or cruise out to snorkel and scuba dive along the southern Great Barrier Reef. Burrum Heads sits on the northern edge of the Fraser Coast, where highlights include whale-watching in Hervey Bay, the heritage town of Maryborough, and the Urangan Pier near Torquay.
