Brilliant spot! Glenn & Zoe have created an exclusive little piece of paradise on their property on the banks of the Clarence River just outside of Yamba. There are only four caravan spots, all of them Excellent with fire pits, level with grass and very easy to cast a line straight from your campsite into the river. The property is perfectly maintained. Great if you’ve got children that want to run around and play, there is a canoe and kayak that they graciously leave for guests use, a boat ramp to launch a boat, and a jetty to fish off. Couple that with amazing sunrises and sunsets, what more could you ask for? Five star hip camp.

Riverside rest is an amazing property right next to the river. We loved our stay on site 2. We spent the few days watching kangaroos, fishing from the banks and the jetty. We were even lucky enough to spot some dolphins cruising by. We will definitely be back one day. Thanks for having us.

We stayed on site 1. Was such a beautiful spot to spend the weekend. Plenty of activities and things to do and see. Fishing from the campsite, paddle boarding in the river, the kids loved having a bit of beach to build castles and play. Kangaroos jumping through and we were able to visit the cows. The sites are well maintained and caretakers were very friendly and welcoming. We’ve already booked to return.

Dungarubba Fields

We offer you a well located and secure camp-site to explore the North Coast or for that overnight stay while you are travelling to your destination and need a safe place to camp. Our four campsites are spacious and are freshly mown flat grassed sites. Each campsite has 1 or 2 stone circles for campfires, with free kindling and free firewood supplied to all campsites. Whether you are a single traveller, a couple, family or group booking we have the campsite for you. We are family friendly and dog friendly. Dungarubba Fields is a private, rural setting on six acres on Bundjalung country. Four of our camp sites are situated across a small bridge in the back paddock, and one camp site is situated just before the bridge for those self driving campervans with a wider wheel-base. The paddock was once cleared and in recent years we have planted and cared for over 100 new Koala and rainforest trees. After the Northern Rivers floods of 2022 we are now continuing the bush regeneration beside the Dungarubba wetland which borders our property. Our camp-sites offer shade, space, wildlife and birdlife. Campfires are allowed 12 months a year depending on fire ratings and local conditions except on days of Total Fire Ban and the preceding evening going into a Total Fire Ban. We supply the free firewood to each campsite as we understand how important the campfire is to the camping experience. Outside the fire season we can supply a readymade Bonfire at an additional cost to your booking. Hipcampers can access fresh drinking water (rainwater) from our rainwater tanks, with an accessible tap near our home. Hipcampers have access to a downstairs flushing toilet at the house. We offer a Portaloo for larger group bookings situated beside your camp site as an optional extra for an additional cost. The Portaloo needs to be booked when you make your booking. The house on the property was originally built in 1903 as the Catholic Church of the nearby locality Riley's Hill. In the 1940’s it was moved to the current site after low attendance by parishioners who didn’t want to have to row across the Richmond River and get their feet wet to attend Mass. The church sold the building in the 1980’s and it was raised off the ground with two new wings attached on either side to become a private residence. The sugar cane and soybeans, however more surrounding land is being planted to Macadamia nuts which will change the look of the landscape in future. During May to November of an evening, you can look out for the occasional cane fire which is a historic part of the harvesting of sugar. The Richmond River and boat ramp is a short 2 minutes drive for both fishing and water skiing. The Broadwater National Park with sand-dunes and a fishing beach is only a 10 minute drive away. The Pacific Highway is 7 minutes drive away. The beautiful coastal village of Evans Head with shops, a medical clinic and a patrolled beach is just a 15 minutes drive. The nearest townships are Broadwater (2 fuel stations and a pub under new management), Coraki (junction of 2 rivers), Woodburn (pub with a bistro and a laundrette) and Evans Head (a township with most services). We are a 45 minutes drive to Byron Bay and 25 minutes to the coastal city of Ballina up the Pacific Highway or 25 minutes drive inland to the city of Lismore. We welcome friendly dogs and there is plenty of space for them to run around and chase balls or other dogs. Our dog Stella is a 4 year old Blue Heeler, who greets people from the balcony barking as you drive in. Don’t let the barking fool you as she loves visitors and their dogs. We expect owners to be responsible for their dogs and in particularly when there are Koalas close by. We ask dogs not to roam at night as Koalas are nocturnal (and so are other critters) and night-time is when they choose their food tree for the next day and roam around. Eltham Station Campground is a quiet campground on the Wilson River near the hip village of Eltham, just down the road from Bangalow, a few k's from Clunes and 35kms from Byron Bay. The camp sites are private and have easy access for 2WD vehicles or 4WD. Eltham Station has 7 all weather campsites along a private lagoon. The sites have gravel pads and grass to set up on, plus campfire spots laid out (firewood available) a clearly marked road in and are also surrounded by large trees to provide plenty of shade. There are plenty of birds, frogs, water dragons, platypus (if you are quiet), wallabies and other wildlife around the property and it is a beautiful and peaceful location to set up camp for caravans, motorhomes, swags, tents or vans. Exclusive use of the whole campground for a large group is available on request. We are only 2kms from the village of Eltham and the famous Eltham Pub which is a historic building that often has live music and is a great spot for a meal. It often books out so during busy periods we recommend you book ahead on www.elthampub.com.au Also we are only a 20 minute drive to the beach (recommend Shelly Beach at Ballina with a great cafe called Shelly Beach cafe for breaky or lunch) and are close to the many other beautiful attractions that this area is known for. Children under 6 stay free but hosts must be notified of the total number of people in your group. Each site holds a maximum of 6 guests in total. Campfires are permitted in the rings provided and please ensure you set up in the spot allocated to you especially in busy times. All campers must abide by any fire or other government restrictions. Well behaved pets are welcome but please be aware this campsite is on a working farm with cattle, potty calves, horses, a few of our own dogs. The livestock are behind fences or over the river so will not be on your site. Please respect the farm animals and do not approach them

A good location to explore the Tuckean Swamp, the property takes in 20 ha of Lowland Subtropical Rainforest on floodplain and Melaleuca Swamp. Heading 4.5 km south along the road is the Bagotville Barrage from which you can explore the Tuckean Swamp by canoe for kilometres and observe the birdlife including ducks, comb-crested jacana and black swan.

Shark Creek Retreat

Shark Creek Retreat is an ongoing conservation project, where I call myself the caretaker of these beautiful wetlands. I have dedicated 77 acres of it as a wildlife sanctuary, it is a member of the Wildlife Land Trust and has joined the Land for Wildlife environmental community. To date there is a property bird list worthy of a National Park for all you keen birders out there and I have been busy regenerating previously cleared land from farming and the 2019 bush fire with native plants local to this area in the 100's. My aim is to surround most of the property in wildlife friendly fencing, regenerate a flora and fauna corridor as a wildlife safety zone from the wetlands to the road and to create a tranquil little space for nature appreciative people to stop and a take a rest. Up and coming projects will be to erect a shower shed, composting toilet and a tree tent for visitors but for now campers will need to be self sufficient. All the materials I use have been recycled and mostly salvaged from the local tip. If camping out in a conservation area appeals to you then head out to Shark Creek Retreat, stay for a night or stay for a week 💚🌳

They must be controlled as sheep are nearby and we have an abundance of wildlife. We have a slackline, a rope swing and badmitten for anyone looking to include more play in their stay! Responsible campfires are permitted in the metal fire pits in designated area when restrictions aren't in place.
