Located on the stunning Tumut River, where River Red gums are scattered though out the camp,offering shade, privacy, and comfort. Here you have clear Snowy River water at your doorstep. It's so fresh we drink it! Each camping site is by the river, prime position for fishing, canoeing, and swimming. Based on availability, you are welcome to choose your spot on arrival. All options are grassed and level. You will have access to pit toilets (3) otherwise, please BYO facilities. Small campfires are welcome in the fire pits provided, or BYO firepit (permitting there are no restrictions in place at the time). Firewood can be purchased at the time of booking. We’re pet-friendly! Please note, however, that we are a working farm with ongoing activities and resident animals, including livestock and farm dogs, so all pets must be kept under control at all times. Aggressive, disruptive, or potentially dangerous dogs of any type are not allowed — especially restricted breeds (e.g. Pit Bulls, Bull Mastiffs). Lovely views from the hill sitting on 42 acres within a valley south of Canberra. Room to explore, with close access to walking trails, lots of wildlife including some very stubborn wombats, kangaroos and lots of birds, lizards, and friendly horses that will do anything for carrots. Its far enough out of town for complete silence, but only 30 minutes back into town. Close to Googong Dam (which is great for fishing, kayaking, walking). Dog friendly so the whole family can visit. Suits campers who have their own toilet and leave no trace. No amenitiies.

We are located at Brungle Creek, between Tumut and Gundagai. We have many private, secluded, beautiful spots for you to choose from. The views are spectacular and the atmosphere is the ultimate for relaxing. It's best for self sufficient campers as there are no toilets or amenities. In advance, you can arrange a farm tour through host. There are no toilets for campers so you will need to be self-contained with your own camping toilet and shower. Drinking and cooking water available. Our cabin is fully contained with all that you need for a comfortable stay. Dogs permitted but must be well controlled and NOT chase livestock. Campfires permitted in designated areas when restrictions aren't in place. Firewood available, discuss with host where to get it from. Lovely spot to relax and unwind and really connect. The night sky is incredible, lay back and gaze for hours. You will only have neighbours if you bring them with you, all camps are private! Bliss!

Endor Nature Camp is located in the picturesque town of Batlow, offering unique off-grid nature camping experiences. Only 25 minutes from the Tumbarumba to Rosewood Rail Trail, Endor is the perfect mountain hideaway to map out your day. Visit farm gates, take a tour of the Snowy Valleys Sculpture Trail and indulge your taste buds at some of the regions finest food and beverage establishments. Located on the Batlow to Tumbarumba road at Deep Gully Bend (The Old Mill) site entrance. Endor is only 2km from the village of Batlow, nestled into steep hillside and surrounded by Alpine woodland. Endor is home to a large variation of wildlife including the endangered Greater Glider and other Squirrel Glider species. Wombats roam at night along with kangaroo, wallaby and deer migrating when in season. Powerful Owls, Gang Gang and many species from the parrot family are a spectacular sight along with morning and Twighlight Finch performances. Endor is a primitive camp site with cabin style accommodation. There are two bunkers which are set 25m apart and each bunker can accommodate 2 people Max. Basic single bed set up with basic linen however it is required that you bring your own temperature rated sleeping bag for seasonal Camps in winter and shoulder periods. The weather can change very quickly, and temperatures can drop to below zero with snow in Winter. Campfires are allowed during the winter season and each bunker has a fire pit. Our aim is to provide a comfortable bed in an alpine off grid setting for those who seek an experience in nature. Located on Batlow Road you will experience some road traffic noise and log truck activity during peak hours in the morning and afternoon. A small reminder that you are still close to civilization.

Our property is divided by Avalon Creek Road, to the left side we have a site with more bush and native trees. On the right hand side there is less vegetation, this side of the property also leads to a creek. Land is recently reforested with native trees. Turn LEFT off Hume Highway into Adelong Creek Rd if you are driving from the South OR turn Right across freeway if you are driving from Gundagai Iconic Gundagai village is only 8 km away. Water sports, hiking, horse riding and skiing are all available in the nearby area. Also only 45 minutes from Wagga Wagga. Pets are welcome but must be contained to protect nature and wildlife. Campfires are permitted but you must have your own fire pit.

An extensive river side campsite with easy 2WD access to the property. A mix of clear campsites suitable for caravans and tree grove campsites great for rooftop or tent camping. There were drop toilets available which were surprisingly clean. Be aware that in summer months the fly population will be significant due to it being a working cattle property but in cooler months no problem and the bonus of being able to have a campfire.

Highly recommend! Stunning setting right on the banks of the Tumut River, which was colder than the Polar Plunge in Antartica! Beautiful, peaceful, idyllic place for a few relaxing days, but close enough to town to enjoy the quaint township of Tumut. Thank you Wayne, we will be back.

We loved our stay at Bahwidgee. So peaceful and relaxing. Was easy access in on a well maintained road. Level grassy sites of your choice right on the Tumut River. River was a bit chilly due to recent snow but was so refreshing. We loved the cows coming past for their afternoon stroll. Thanks Wayne for offering a beautiful property for others to enjoy. Highly recommend. One of our favourite Hipcamps so far.

Great spot right on banks of Tumut River. Clean pit toilet, friendly cows, plenty of space and privacy. River was cold when we were there in December but still beautiful for a dip and crystal clear. A sign of a good hipcamp is if you would return or not and we will certainly be back.

Beautiful spot, views amazing, ditto birdlife. About 8 to 10 riverside spots, which are easy for any vehicle to access and can cope with large groups. Only 5 mins from Tumut coffee etc but can only see hills and river from camp. Camp-site area is regular rectangle bounded by river on one side and fences on the others, so could fit another 8 to 10 along the back. 87 would prob require vertical stacking.

Bahwidgee is one of the best hip camps we’ve had to pleasure of staying at. Absolutely beautiful waterfront site, so much space to choose from, amazing scenery and you’re 5 mins from the Main Street of Tumut. Not that you would know because it’s so peaceful and quiet. Wayne is an awesome host, great communication and a friendly helpful guy. We have already started looking at when we can return with friends and family.

I loved camping at Bahwidgee! It’s so well maintained and right on the river. Wayne is an incredibly friendly host and his farm is beautiful. Only a short 3-4km walk into town (Tumut) and there’s a lovely river walk there too. Would definitely recommend and we will be back for sure.

This was our third stay here in 3 years and it still is our favourite camping spot. Wayne as always was a great host. It's so tranquil with the great grassy camp sites combined with the river the bird life the cattle the views of the surrounding area and maybe a trout or two make it just so relaxing. The new toilets were a added bonus. It's only a 10 minute drive Into town for supplies and entertainment. We will be back again next year. Rob

Where to go

Brindabella Ranges

South of Wee Jasper Valley, the Brindabella Ranges roll over the border of New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory. The mountainous terrain of the Brindabella National Park provides plenty of opportunities for outdoor adventures. Explore off-road on a network of 4WD trails, hike or mountain bike along mountain ridges, or camp out in the heart of the bush.

Australian Capital Territory

Beyond Brindabella National Park, the Australian Capital Territory has both historical monuments and verdant parklands. Dive into Australia’s history and heritage at Canberra’s many museums, enjoy boat cruises or kayaking around Lake Burley Griffin, or explore miles of bushwalking and cycling trails right on the city’s doorstep. For overnight stays, there are plenty of camping areas in and around the capital too.

Canberra Wine Country

Rolling green hills lie to the east of Wee Jasper, where the cool-climate vineyards produce some of Australia’s finest Shiraz, Riesling, and Chardonnay wines. Murrumbateman, Gundaroo, and Yass are the main stops on a wine-tasting itinerary. Visit boutique wineries and cellar doors, sample local foods from artisan producers, then pitch your tent amid the vines.

When to go

The best time for camping trips, bushwalking, and outdoor activities is from September through May, when it’s warm enough for swimming and trout fishing in the rivers. It’s busiest in summer (December through February), so book campsites and activities in advance. Mild temperatures mean that camping is possible year-round, and the reserves stay open through winter.

Know before you go

You will need your own transport to reach the Wee Jasper Reserves; there is no public transport. Campsites are all located along sealed roads, but other attractions in the region may require a 4WD.

Camping in the Wee Jasper Reserves must be booked in advance.
Campsites in the Wee Jasper Reserves have restrooms, showers, picnic tables, and barbecues, but there are no powered sites, and cell phone and 4G reception is also limited. The Billy Grace Reserve is the main center for campers with potable water, an RV dump point, a rubbish compound, and a small shop selling essentials.
There is no gas station in Wee Jasper—the closest is in Yass, about a 1-hour drive away. This is also the place to stock up on camping supplies and groceries.
