Karoola Station is a beautiful property with open campsites and easy access to the river. Sheryl and James are very easy to deal with and have great communication. We can't wait to go back again!

1 night at MOUNTAIN VIEW RETREAT

Don't know why people complain, it's a typical farm with a beautiful view, reasonable amenities like toilet and shower, if you want fancy go stay at a hotel, camping isn't for you. the host Craig was an absolute Gentleman, stressed if there's anything I need at all to just ask no matter how late or early, feel free to knock on the door to the main house and ask. Will be likely staying on my way back south, no complaints at all! Thanks for your hospitality Craig!

It was a beautiful and peaceful setting. Easy to locate. Signs helped me navigate to the lagoon site easily.

2 nights at Karoola Station

The Karoola Lagoon quickly shot to the top 3 locations on Hipcamp for our group. The property is easy to find and the camp sites are sign posted so you can make your own way down to the river. The Lagoon has a spacious frontage that could easily accommodate large groups. We had 7 vehicles and everyone had plenty of their own space and access to the water. A rocky hill shields the southerlys and the sun arcs perfectly across the campsite making it perfect for winter camping. Lots of fish were caught and the dogs had the time of their lives. Thank you to the hosts who had great communication and provided what is arguably a perfect campsite.

Was perfect for a couple of days. I was there by myself and dogs could get off leash. The sites are big and divided so I expect you’ll wouldn’t feel on top of eachother. Thanks Emma 🐾

Camping at Sheryl and James's property at The lagoon is a a very special experience. Surrounded by lush land and a beautiful hill that has sacred rocks and a great walk for a stunning view and sunset photos. The camp grounds are immaculate with fire pits, right on the rivers edge. Fishing and a rope swing. It's the perfect overnight stay or a long relaxing few days in nature. You will not be disappointed in any way.

We had the most relaxing time at this beautiful riverside campsite! It’s the perfect pet-friendly spot, and our dog absolutely loved having the freedom to explore. The location right next to the river was not only stunning but super peaceful—waking up to the sound of the water and birds was pure bliss. The sunsets here were breathtaking—each evening felt like a private show with vibrant colors reflecting off the water. It's an ideal place to unwind, enjoy nature, and disconnect from the daily grind. Highly recommend!

Great bush camp by the Tumut River. Peaceful, scenic, and perfect for fishing or just kicking back by the fire. Plenty of space, flat ground, and no crowds. Cold when I went, but the fire pit sorted that. Host was easygoing. Will definitely be back for another trip.

We loved our stay at Bahwidgee. We had a private site where we truely relaxed, enjoyed a fire, reconnected as a family and enjoyed the sound of the birds, the properties cattle and the mysterious playful platypuses. Highly recommend!

A fantastic place to stay. Close to town, peaceful, great wildlife (even a platypus sighting if you’re lucky), lots of space and Wayne (host) was lovely. Seriously one of the best places we’ve ever stayed, highly recommended.

Located on the stunning Tumut River, where River Red gums are scattered though out the camp,offering shade, privacy, and comfort. Here you have clear Snowy River water at your doorstep. It's so fresh we drink it! Each camping site is by the river, prime position for fishing, canoeing, and swimming. Based on availability, you are welcome to choose your spot on arrival. All options are grassed and level. You will have access to a pit toilets (3)otherwise, please BYO facilities. Small campfires are welcome in the fire pits provided, or BYO firepit (permitting there are no restrictions in place at the time). Firewood can be purchased at the time of booking. We're pet-friendly, so you're welcome to bring your four-legged friends along! Please note, however, that we are a working farm and as such farm activities are going on, and we have resident animals, so please keep your pets under control at all times. Also, please ensure kids are supervised at all times, particularly around the river. Lifejackets are recommended. During your time here, visit the local farm gates in Tumut, Batlow, Tumbarumba, and Adelong for their delicious high-country produce. There are also some beautiful swimming spots and walks to discover in the region, as well as good facilities in town, including the local swimming pool and shopping centre. Enjoy a local brew and bite to eat at the Tumut brewery. Bahwidgee is just 3km from the Tumut town centre - so close you could ride in, or even walk.

Karoola Station is a working family farm, lucky enough to have frontage and easy access to the Murrumbidgee River near Gundagai in NSW, halfway between Sydney and Melbourne. We are located a short 13km drive off the Hume Highway and only 45 minutes from Wagga Wagga the largest inland city in NSW. Not only is Gundagai the gateway to the Riverina but the Snowy Mountains Alpine area is within a day trip from here too, making it a great central location. We are sheep graziers, and in season, visitors can observe the newborn lambs or freshly shorn sheep. There are no amenities available, self contained camping only. Campfires permitted in designated areas when restrictions aren't in place. Please consult hosts regarding fires during dry summer months even when no fire ban in place. Good access for caravans Karoola gives you the opportunity to fish, swim, boat or kayak on the river. You can walk along the riverbank or up onto the rocky outcrop for a great view of the Murrumbidgee floodplain and surrounding farming country or perhaps you would just like to relax with a good book and drink under the huge gumtrees on the riverbank in peace and quiet. We are half a kilometre from the main road behind locked gates, and just 10 minutes from town for all your supply needs. There are plenty of scenic walks and fishing spots nearby, at camp you can enjoy complete privacy. There is a shower and toilet available which is separate from the main residence. There is also bar fridge, large chest freezer, jug, toaster, and microwave available, We are on tank water and can offer drinking water. We ask that you are conservative with your water use, and we encourage you to bring your own. Enjoy waking up to the tranquil sounds of wildlife of all sorts, (not having to hear any traffic being 500meters off the main road). plus the views of the kangaroos in the mornings is pleasant too! The campsite is accessible by 2WD and we can accommodate all types of camping vehicles. You will need to level your vehicle depending on which site you choose. Your pet is welcome to join you and can cool off in the dams we have available.

Our story starts in Far North Queensland, when a german backpacker, me :), met an Aussie fisherman, Craig. To cut the long story short, after living together in Germany we decided to move back to Australia. We had a vision, trying to find our perfect place to live. Starting out with a car, a camper trailer and two bags we travelled from North Queensland down to Tasmania. Looking for a place to live. On our way through Tumbarumba everything started to unfold and we fell in love with our property. The feel, the experience and the climate. This was it! We've found our perfect place and finally named it "Creal's Rest" which has two meanings for us. Obviously from our name, but also from "creel" which is a wicker basket usually used for carrying fish. Escape the hustle bustle of life on our 10 acres alpaca life style farm which is nestled between beautiful hills and grazing properties on Walteela Road in Mannus (20 min drive to Tumbarumba). Walteela means "Place of Peace" and that is what you might be looking for. No traffic waking you. Listen to the sounds of nature instead... Enjoy the peacefulness, local wildlife (kookaburras, echidnas, wombats, kangaroos, etc.), small creek, stunning mountain views and dark skies for star gazing. Birdwatchers... you'll love it! Love fishing? Enjoy a chat with Craig, who has been a pro line fisherman for 18 years in the GBR! He loves to explore, show off the local fishing spots and a chat about all things fishing! Mannus Creek is only a couple of min drive away and Mannus Lake 15-20 min drive. Hand feed our friendly alpacas, greet our pet chickens and find some eggs. Ask us for some fresh herbs from our garden if you like cooking with a little extra flavour or use them to enjoy a herbal tea. Heard of "Swedish Torch" yet? An amazing way of having a campfire, that burns for hours. Cook on it or just enjoy the beautiful mess free fire. Book ahead! The Violet Farm

Our property is located in Tumut Plains at a nursery that specialises in African Violets. Enjoy the serene landscape with uninterrupted views of nearby hills, whilst relaxing under the shade of an Elm tree. Wander through the established gardens or relax and watch the neighbouring cattle wander through their paddocks. The house on the property is 120 years old and was once a school that has now been converted. The property also has some of the most amazing sunsets on offer. We are only a few minutes by car from the beautiful township of Tumut where you can access the Tumut River and Blowering Dam for all your water activities. There is also a great brewery for food and drinks, a nearby by mountain bike park and we are not too far from Adelong Falls. The property is pet friendly but please ensure your pets are under control at all times. Campfires are welcome in the firepit provided, as long as there is no restrictions in place. We also have some firewood available.
