This property is in Northangera with the Mongarlowe River running along the boundary. It's covered in trees and provides a pristine environment amongst the "Scribbly Gums". It has flat areas with plenty of free timber for the designated fire pits. I have tried to create a haven for wildlife including Kangaroos, wombats, echidnas and platypus. I cherish the cleanliness of the river and surrounds and wish to be able to share this special environment with others who care to preserve all it offers. You can explore the property along the tracks, paddle, swim or fish in the river, enjoy the fauna, wildlife and birdlife. Located not far from Braidwood, a town steeped in history, with good shopping, coffee shops and great food. Sloping to flat land amongst the Scribbly Gum trees offering a number of sites and walks through the property. It provides both sun and shade. Access is good for vans of any size along a track through the bushland. Lovely swimming spots in the Mongalowe River, beautiful clear water, and several lovely bushwalks around the property. There is only Telstra reception available in this area. We offer 7 different sites and the maximum stay is 7 nights.

Gumnut is a site sitting on top of the Eastern Ridge with views to the Budawangs and getting the morning and late evening sun. It is flat and sheltered with trees. It is in a secluded spot and is the first campsite on your right as you drive down the Eastern Ridge camping track. It is suitable for caravans, motorhomes, campervans and tents.

A unique secluded shack on the Mongarlowe River. Beautiful swimming hole and firepit. Inside is a warm slow combustion wood heater for those chilly winter nights. Adequate firewood is provided for the heater.  Downstairs is a double bed and on the mezzanine level, there is a double bed mattress on the floor and two single bed mattresses the floor (for kids). Sleeps 6 at a pinch but very comfortable for 2 to 4.  A thunder downunder toilet is available in the "loo with a view". Basic cooking facilities are provided including a one burner gas cooker, cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils and pots and pans. BYO linen, doona, sleeping bags, pillows etc. Totally off the grid, bring your own cleaning gear, camp lights or torches and refrigeration. Adequate solar lighting is installed. No refrigeration is provided. Limited to max of 6 people.

Nestled in seclusion among the gum trees on Scribbly Gum’s 50 acres of bush, Pumpkin offers a private retreat, complete with afire pit, outdoor amenities, and enchanting solar lighting that creates a magical ambiance. Enjoy all the benefits of camping and a much more comfortable sleep, without having to purchase the equipment or do any of the setting up. . Just a 450m bush track stroll from the Mongarlowe River, Pumpkin is equipped for a comfortable, self-sufficient stay. Cook outdoors using the drum fire pit, wood stove, or gas cooker. Relax under the tarp on comfortable camp seating, or enjoy an afternoon nap in the double hammock. Close your eyes and listen to the sounds of the bush. Or keep them wide open and look out for kookaburras, magpies, sulphur crested cockatoos, galahs, black cockatoos, lyrebirds, eastern rosellas, blue wrens, bower birds, butcher birds and more. Wake up to kangaroos grazing and joeys bouncing around their mothers. Take a night stroll to spot wombats and listen to the owls and the frogs. If you’re lucky you’ll see echidna, the lyre bird’s fantastic performance and also platypus frolicking down at the river. Dogs are welcome but with all the wildlife, they need to be kept under strict control or on a leash. No dogs inside the caravan for the comfort of future guests please. What's provided:  Caravan with outdoor floor mat and shade tarp  Drum fire pit with hotplate/grill  Outdoor wood stove  Gas camp cooker (1 gas cylinder included)  Thetford camping toilet (in privacy tent, 1 roll of toilet paper provided)  Self-fill camp shower from river water supply  Cutlery, crockery, pots, and cookware  Camp chairs, table, pantry and double hammock  Solar lights (camper responsibility to recharge)  20 litres of drinking rain water (additional BYO recommended)  As much firewood as you can collect. Pay it forward and leave some for the next guests! Sleeping arrangements:  Double bed with very comfortable mattress topper  Lounge converts to a large single bed  Bunks provide 2 single positions – suitable for children only (lower bunk with only 18 inches head clearance). Top bunk can fold down to provide a more spacious single or a lounge. Guests to bring ALL linen and bedding including sleeping bags (or linen and doona), pillows and towels. For the comfort of future guests, please do not sleep on the mattress covers without your own linen or sleeping bag – if you forget to bring you may be able to hire from us but this is not a regular service and we will not always be available. We loved our night at Gumnut. So quiet and natural. Proper rural peace, watched platypus frolic in the river in the morning. Wished we could have stayed longer! Access fine in a motorhome.

We had a magnificent weekend at the shack. so quiet, relaxing. A perfect bush refuge. the bird life was astounding and we were visited by the local platypus.

This was a beautiful site, all only a short walk to the river, private, and nice for an easy weekend as not so far out of town. Stayed on a site with no facilities etc which was great. Saw that they have other options too, the set up caravan looked great. Thanks!

My partner and l loved camping at Scribbly Gum! The host Phil was friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome. We felt immersed in nature, surrounded by trees and wildlife, and the Mongarlowe river was beautiful. We will definitely be coming back!

The Shack

The Shack provided us with the perfect long weekend retreat. Phil has set up the Shack with a cooker, chairs, table, comfortable beds and cooking utensils. The view to the river is beautiful and we enjoyed a refreshing swim and paddle board. We loved the indoor and outdoor fire - plenty of firewood provided! The best part - total peace and quiet! We didn’t see anyone else on the property! Thanks Phil - we would love to come back!

River Shack
We loved staying at the river shack - it has everything you need for a relaxing, off-grid holiday. The shack is well stocked with cooking supplies and firewood and the log burner kept us cosy during the cold nights. The view from the deck was lovely - we even saw 2 platypus! Would definitely recommend the shack!

The most beautiful site on the river. So private, serene and relaxing. We were a bit worried about the cold (sub zero) but the shack is SO cosy with the fire. Well stocked with cooking gear, firewood and two drums of water (we still BYO drinking water). We were visited by a wombat and platypus! Perfect getaway for two couples and a dog.

The land was fantastic, easy access and the additional sites seemed well spread out so you’re not on top of each other. Unfortunately we got rained out, but our site (Gumnut) was not flooded, there was adequate draining. We got flooded out due to equipment deficiency 🤣🤣. We’ll be back.

Fantastic campsite with gorgeous surrounding Bushland. Private and good size spots. We saw a platypus in the river, highlight of the trip! Have stayed before and would definitely come back!

We originally wanted to book Gumnut but Hipcamp was having a glitch. So we booked site3 instead. On arrival, Phil kindly offered Gumnut to us as it was vacant. Awesome site. We got sun rises and late afternoon sun. What a difference it made for a winter weather! Overall very enjoyable stay.

Site was easy to locate, was clean and very large. Quite private also. As always we left the site as clean, or cleaner than how we found it. Love hearing the Kookaburras in the morning.

Platypus, lyre birds, rosella, whip birds etc etc. Shack really well-thought out and well-stocked fireplace kept it warm enough even in middle of winter.

Great spot however if you are looking for privacy this probably isn’t the place for you - other campers are directly across the way and the site is next to the main road through the property. We didn’t mind as everyone was friendly and respectful. Phil’s instructions were clear and he

Lovely bit of property and close to Braidwood. Worth exploring around the campsites. The river was nice but swollen after the rain, I'd like to come back and try and fish again. Phil was very helpful too

Site 1 - Eastern Ridge
I only stayed the one night, even though I booked and paid for two. I had the impression the campsite was fairly secluded but it was in full view of another camper and the campsite was unfortunately, not great. The river was 2-3 hundred metres from my campsite, which is fine, but there was very little access. Nowhere to sit or setup if you had say an inflatable SUP and definitely too hard if you had a young child. Lastly, I received a message from the host one day prior to my booking, that the river was flooded and one access into campsite was cut-off due to rain. I replied asking, that if it was too wet/flooded, should I postpone for another week. Unfortunately no reply, so I left for my weekend camping not knowing what condition the campsite would be in. After my first night I messaged my host letting him know he can rebook the campsite as I wasn't staying the second night, but again, no reply. In my opinion, the campsite along with the poor communication from the host made it not worth the thirty odd dollars per night that I paid 😞
