If you’re chasing peace, privacy, and that feeling of being completely off-grid without actually roughing it, this place nails it. Super quiet, surrounded by nature, and with plenty of space to spread out and unwind — exactly what we needed.

2 nights at Karoola Station

The Karoola Lagoon quickly shot to the top 3 locations on Hipcamp for our group. The property is easy to find and the camp sites are sign posted so you can make your own way down to the river. The Lagoon has a spacious frontage that could easily accommodate large groups. We had 7 vehicles and everyone had plenty of their own space and access to the water. A rocky hill shields the southerlys and the sun arcs perfectly across the campsite making it perfect for winter camping. Lots of fish were caught and the dogs had the time of their lives. Thank you to the hosts who had great communication and provided what is arguably a perfect campsite.

1 night at Wagga Bundaleer

Was perfect for a couple of days. I was there by myself and dogs could get off leash. The sites are big and divided so I expect you’ll wouldn’t feel on top of eachother. Thanks Emma 🐾

Great spot! I suggest buying some meat and a bottle of red from Ben and his dad Eric. There is nothing better than having fresh meat a good bottle of red sitting right on the river watching a wombat walk past. Definitely going back.

Weekend Trip to Karoola Station

Camping at Sheryl and James's property at The lagoon is a a very special experience. Surrounded by lush land and a beautiful hill that has sacred rocks and a great walk for a stunning view and sunset photos. The camp grounds are immaculate with fire pits, right on the rivers edge. Fishing and a rope swing. It's the perfect overnight stay or a long relaxing few days in nature. You will not be disappointed in any way.

Cass put me in the cottage. It was very comfortable, with a lovely view.

14 nights at Belle Barn tiny home and campsites

This place is great. Beautiful Property the views out to the mountains are top notch and the su sets are incredible! Our two dogs loved it too. Pretty sure our little snag dog thinks she’s a kangaroo now, there’s a heap of them. Our host, Joey is a legend. Left us alone to enjoy the beauty of the place and was always available when we needed anything. It’s in the heart of cool climate wine country too, so pack your bikes and get out on a tasting peddle, we had a ball.

We loved our stay at Bahwidgee. We had a private site where we truely relaxed, enjoyed a fire, reconnected as a family and enjoyed the sound of the birds, the properties cattle and the mysterious playful platypuses. Highly recommend!

A fantastic place to stay. Close to town, peaceful, great wildlife (even a platypus sighting if you’re lucky), lots of space and Wayne (host) was lovely. Seriously one of the best places we’ve ever stayed, highly recommended.

We are located a short 13km drive off the Hume Highway and only 45 minutes from Wagga Wagga the largest inland city in NSW. The Orchard

"The Orchard" is located at Crafty Cider and SMART Animal Sanctuary "The Orchard" is in the beautiful Kunama valley located 10 minutes from Batlow and 30 from the wonderful town of Tumbarumba. Set your camp up in our small Cider Apple orchard over looking the dam and our beautiful 55 acre farm. Get close up to the camels (Houdini, Sadeek and Gobi), Check out our beautiful big highland steer called Jimmy, Roger the donkey always likes a bum scratch, and see the many other animals that live here at Crafty Cider & SMART Animal Sanctuary. Kick back and listen to the quiet around you, enjoy the sounds of the birds and farm animals. "The Orchard" is a beautiful peaceful 5 minute walk down a gravel road with big trees to our Cidery where you can taste and take back to camp some of our cider or sit and have a drink while watching the animals being fed. Maybe book a tour where Tony will show you how we make our cider from the orchard to the bottle and Lorene will show you the amazing animals. You can always jump on your bike and head out on one of the many tracks in the area. You will need to be self sufficient and have your own toilet, water etc. There is no power in The Orchard. Due to people using the orchard as a toilet we are now no longer taking people tenting. You MUST be self sufficient. Head in Batlow to check out the bakery, RSL and Pub and admire the beauty of this small town. Or head upto Tumbarumba where you can visit the Winerys and Ginnery, have lunch at Coroubya wines,The Nest or one of the many cafes. Maybe take the challange of the Tumbarumba rail trail. Check out the water falls, the blowering dam and take in those beautiful mountain views.

We've found our perfect place and finally named it "Creal's Rest" which has two meanings for us. Obviously from our name, but also from "creel" which is a wicker basket usually used for carrying fish. Escape the hustle bustle of life on our 10 acres alpaca life style farm which is nestled between beautiful hills and grazing properties on Walteela Road in Mannus (20 min drive to Tumbarumba). Walteela means "Place of Peace" and that is what you might be looking for. No traffic waking you. Listen to the sounds of nature instead... Enjoy the peacefulness, local wildlife (kookaburras, echidnas, wombats, kangaroos, etc.), small creek, stunning mountain views and dark skies for star gazing. Birdwatchers... you'll love it! Love fishing? Enjoy a chat with Craig, who has been a pro line fisherman for 18 years in the GBR! He loves to explore, show off the local fishing spots and a chat about all things fishing! Mannus Creek is only a couple of min drive away and Mannus Lake 15-20 min drive. Hand feed our friendly alpacas, greet our pet chickens and find some eggs. Ask us for some fresh herbs from our garden if you like cooking with a little extra flavour or use them to enjoy a herbal tea. Heard of "Swedish Torch" yet? An amazing way of having a campfire, that burns for hours. Cook on it or just enjoy the beautiful mess free fire. Book ahead! Caravan parks near Tumut guide

Overview

Tumut River tributaries flow through the Snowy Mountain foothills, creating a valley with a mountainous backdrop that’s home to the town of Tumut. Snowy Valleys Way takes campers through lush wetlands and waterways to caravan sites among rugged landscapes encompassing lots of bushland and forests. Caravanners can also drive to Blowering Reservoir in Kosciuszko National Park. Park at campgrounds close to the water that have boat ramps for easy access to boating, water skiing, and jet skiing. Anglers may want to cast lines for Murray cod, golden perch, and trout from the shores or on boats. For campers seeking alpine adventure, the rest of Kosciuszko is a wilderness playground for hikers and bushwalkers. Marvel at mountain flora and fauna, or try summiting Mount Kosciuszko—mainland Australia’s highest peak. Although summer is popular for caravan camping in the region, Kosciuszko becomes a winter sports wonderland from June to August as its home to Perisher and Thredbo ski resorts as well as year-round campsites with electric hookups for warm heated nights.
