The Back Road Van is a 22 foot Viscount Supreme caravan, circa 1970's, in fairly original condition. Sitting on a 7 acre property in the beautiful Markwell Valley, and only a 7 minute drive from the village of Bulahdelah. (Note : 5kms of sealed road and 2kms of unsealed gravel road from town - suitable for all vehicles.)  The van is decorated to reflect the retro 70s style. Inside it features a ‘cosy’ double bed, with linen provided; a lounge area; plus a small galley kitchen, that includes a toaster, kettle, bar fridge, microwave and a 2 burner electric stove top. There are also added extras such as a selection of teas, coffee with plunger, milk and local free range eggs. (Note : the van does not have a plumbed water supply, but plenty of fresh water is provided. ) The van is covered by a large shelter - including an open seating area with lounge; table and chairs, a breakfast bar; and small gas BBQ. There is a fire pit which can be used in Winter and Autumn and when fire restrictions allow. We supply all wood for the fire. It also has its own separate bathroom, with shower, toilet and wash basin. Towels are supplied.  Our Pet Policy. Your pet is more than welcome at the Back Road Van. Please keep on leash around the property to protect local wildlife. The space inside the van is NOT suitable for two or more dogs (unless they are a tiny breed). We had such a relaxing time! A hidden oasis amongst the trees & wildlife. We had everything we needed. So many little touches that wouldn’t even be expected, but were greatly appreciated- Pete & Margot clearly care about the experience of their guests which is so refreshing & we were very grateful. We will look to stay again, and would recommend to couples or an individual who want to relax and use it as a base to explore some of the fantastic beaches nearby (Seals Rock was a great recommendation from Pete).

I had the most amazing stay at The Back Road Van. Pete and Margot are generous and thoughtful, but distant hosts. This is one of those finds that you want to keep your own secret, yet tell everyone about. Highlights for me were stargazing at night by the firepit and my morning cuppas looking out at the wildlife. Weekend Trip to The Back Road Van

Pete & Margot were absolutely amazing hosts! It was honestly the best get away my husband and I have had in a very long time. The caravan was decorated in the cutest 70's retro style and provided great comforts during a very wet weekend. Their property is absolutely stunning! The sounds and views of the birds and the native wildlife was an absolute treat to experience. The rain slowed down with enough time for us enjoy beautiful relaxation by the campfire. There was milk, bread, tea, coffee and many other great little comforts around the place that made us feel so welcomed and looked after. Very kind and generous hosts, we will definitely be returning for more Bulahdelah adventures at The Back Road Van :) Thanks again Pete & Margot! See you next time!

Hunter Valley

Just north of Sydney and Newcastle, the Hunter Valley is one of Australia’s most renowned wine regions. Sip semillon and shiraz at cellar door tastings, visit family-run boutique wineries, then pitch your tent or park your RV amid the vineyards or along the Hunter River. Just to the north, the World Heritage-listed Gondwana Rainforests of Barrington Tops National Park afford endless options for bushwalking, fishing, and camping.

South North Coast

Beautiful beaches and wild bushlands await along the southern stretch of the North Coast between Newcastle and Port Macquarie. Go sandboarding at the Stockton Bight Sand Dunes, take a dolphin-watching cruise from Port Stephens, or enjoy kayaking, fishing, and camping at Myall Lakes National Park. Further north, Port Macquarie is the gateway to numerous lakes, lagoons, and wildlife reserves.

Central North Coast
