The Back Road Van is a classic 1970’s Viscount caravan that sits on a 7 acre property in the beautiful Markwell Valley. It is nestled between the Bulahdelah State Forest and rolling green pastures. (Note - from Bulahdelah township we are 5kms of sealed road, then 2kms of unsealed gravel road, the road is suitable for all vehicles.) We are a 7 minute drive from Bulahdelah village, 3 hours from Sydney, 1 hour from Newcastle, and 40 minutes to beautiful beaches like Hawks Nest, Seal Rocks, Boomerang and Blueys, so it’s an ideal getaway for couples. The caravan sits privately in the front paddock of our property. It is separate from the main house and is covered by a large shelter that includes an open seating area, with a small gas BBQ provided. There is also an outdoor bar table that’s perfect to enjoy a coffee or cocktail. The van is a 22 foot 1978 Viscount Supreme decorated to reflect the retro 70s style. It features a ‘cosy’ double bed, with linen provided, a lounge area plus a small galley kitchen, that includes a toaster, kettle, bar fridge, microwave and a 2 burner electric stove top. There are also added extras provided such as a selection of teas, coffee with plunger, milk and local free range eggs. The van does not have a plumbed water supply, but plenty of fresh water is provided. Just behind the van you have your own separate bathroom, with shower, toilet and wash basin. Towels are supplied. Your pet is welcome if it is well behaved and on a leash. When booking - PLEASE ensure you tick the appropriate box regarding pets so we know if you are bringing one. You are welcome to enjoy the entire property which includes a veggie garden, dam and an arbour to sit and enjoy the view. The Back Road Van

Quiet, peacful and perfect!

This is 100% the best place to stay EVER! It feels like you are the only people there, there is wildlife to see and you can make a fire and look up at the stars at night! We went in the pouring rain and it was still perfect. The van is under a shelter which meant we could still cook on the BBQ and sit outside all night! The only thing you need is some boots to keep the mud away. What do you need to bring.....NOTHING!! Everything you could possibly need is already there!! The best hospitality of anywhere I have ever stayed!! Thank you for such a magical weekend, we cant wait to come back!

The Back Road Van

A hidden, slice of heaven!

Wow! We just had the most amazing stay at the Back Road Van over the Easter long weekend. Pete and Margot's property is beautiful & spacious with lots of wildlife and you feel really in nature. It was so nice cooking on the BBQ provided (breakfast and dinner) and making fires in the evening with a beer. The Van also has absolutely everything you need as well. Bed was comfy and you have your own bathroom to use. Being pet friendly is a huge plus, our dog absolutely loved it. It is also not too far from some coastal destinations like seal rocks and Forster where you can easily go for day trips. Pete and Margot were so hospitable also giving you some extra treats which were really enjoyed local eggs, milk, pickles etc. Thank you so much, we will be back!

The Back Road Van

My stay at The Back Road Van was amazing! Even though the weather wasn't really good and it was raining most of the time I was there, it was still really nice! Peter was such a nice and warm host and made me feel very welcome there. The van is located next to their house but still has a lot of privacy. The van interior makes you travel straight back to the 70's and it's beautiful and super clean. Their property is beautiful and they have a great pool, pond and gazebo to watch the views. I highly recommend their place :)

A must in the area!

We loved spending a weekend at Pete and Margot’s caravan! The place is gorgeous and the van is beautifully decorated. Equipped with everything you need (and more) to enjoy your stay! Our dog had the best time too! We will def. be back!
