This little tin shack is like going back in time to stay in a timber-getter's lodge. It is full of rustic charm and nestled at the foot of hills, beside and (importantly) in the shade of a stand of large beautiful camphor laurels, with a small creek running below. It really is camping without the tent, but has everything you need in the way of a solar shower, long-drop loo, tanks of water, solar lights and a small fan, gas cooker and large bbq, outdoor firepit, and even a fire-heated outdoor bath to enjoy under the stars, or in our case, a full moon. The deck is large and comfortable with chairs and a hammock which we spent a lot of time in, and the solar nights that come on at night make for a lovely vibe. The wind in the trees and the sound of the wind chime was so lovely to hear and fall asleep to at night, and the cool night's in the comfortable beds made for great sleeps. Being a tin shack, it does get quite hot especially late morning/midday, but we found shade under the camphor's and loved watching the cows come up close. The creek was really low when we were there as there hasn't been much rain, but it would be so beautiful when flowing in rainy months. Whian Whian Falls is less than 10 minutes away for a lovely swim to cool of, and we dined at the Channon Pub too which is recommended. The kids (3 and 1) loved the space to explore, cows to watch, creek and bath to splash in, and fireside hangs. Peter was such an amazing, responsive, friendly, and kind host.

My husband and I along with our 2 dogs had the most peaceful, relaxing stay on Peter and Tania's property. Relaxing on the deck and watching the cows graize in the lush, rolling hills was so serene. Cooling off in the nearby creek, watching our dogs play was so special. Thank you to Peter for meeting us and showing us the way. Definitely need a 4wd. We would love to come back again.

Barachi by the creek is an absolutely magical place. Peaceful, secluded and surrounded by natural beauty while giving you everything you need for a trip away without all the mod cons. We had the most incredible night at Peter and Tania's cabin! The cabin was so decked out with everything we needed and the beds were comfier than the ones at home! The dog and the kids loved the creek, we hiked and explored the paddocks :) A big storm rolled in and we all watched the lighting from the porch and all slept so cozy with rain on the tin roof! Solar shower was perfect to give everyone a wash! Beautiful property and very private, we will most certainly come back again! Peter was so easy to communicate with and made sure we were all set. Great experience thanks so much 🙏🏼

This was a great place to stay for our family, which included our dog who could roam around and was really happy. We loved the serenity, exploring the creek/surrounds and unplugging from technology - cards and Yahtzee are a must! The barbecue was great for cooking and I recommend doing a fire at night. The accommodation is as described and I would definitely recommend the buggy ride down/back for luggage. If you do want to go back to your car and do some exploring around Modenville, it is a fair walk (30-35 mins) from the shack so be aware of that if you have younger kids or are not that mobile you probably just want to hang out down at the shack. Only small negative was the shower was pretty basic. Peter and Tania were great as well, make sure you have a chat and ask any questions. Overall - highly recommended.

Absolute perfection. Peaceful, abundance of wildlife, beautiful creek and the shack is the ultimate rustic cabin experience. I couldn't stop smiling. It felt like we were in a scene from Man from Snowy River. Absolutely beautiful! Tania and Peter are such a lovely couple who have thought about everything you may need. They know the terraine better then anyone and ensured we got to the cabin and home from the cabin safely. This is definitely a place that we will be coming back to again and again and would recommend this to anyone who wants to step away from everything and do nothing but relax. Our 10 & 12 yo kids can not wait to come back and neither can we. Thanks again Peter and Tania. Was so perfect!

Our favourite part of living at Soulhaven is the daily orchestra of birds! Although you will feel like you’re completely secluded from busy town-life, we are only 15 minutes from the nearest shops. Enjoy a toasty campfire in the evenings where you can sit back and gaze at the stars. There are trail bikes tracks nearby and the iconic Border Ranges is just past Kyogle. This campsite is 2WD friendly and caravans are welcome. You may need to level your caravan for a good night's rest. Your pet, on a lead, is welcome to camp with you. We love animals, but one of the reasons we left suburbia was to get away from barking dogs. If your dog barks at night, or is not we’ll socialised, you’re best to leave pooch at home! Our place is family friendly and we ask that you keep music and noise to a minimum after 10pm.

Built circa 1924, Blue Hills Cottage is a modest federation timber farmers cottage that has been lovingly restored by Pamela and her late Mother Opal. Blue Hills is home to many native birds, animals, reptiles, and insects. It's an inspiring location for artists, photographers, bird watchers, bushwalkers, recreational horse riders, and those simply seeking a reprieve from the hectic pace of city life. For your comfort during Summer, the cottage has 2 air conditioning units and ceiling fans in the 2 main bedrooms and lounge room. There is a wood fire heater plus 2 oil heaters for winter use. LOCATION: The property lies at the foot of the sheer and majestic Lansdowne Escarpment, bordering Coorabakh National Park. Stunning valley views are to be had from the Flat Rock viewing platform located on the rim of the escarpment above the property. This is a popular spot for local bushwalkers, hikers, and visitors to the area. The cottage is 27 km or a 25-minute drive north of Taree Airport, 45 minutes south of Port Macquarie, and 5 minutes from Upper Lansdowne village. There is a distance of 3kms of unsealed road which is regularly maintained to a good standard by our local council. The nearest x street is Muddy Lane. GUEST BOOK Please familiarise yourself with the guest book and observe our house rules contained therein. Information on our house and safety rules, as well as local attractions and tips for getting the most from your rural holiday experience. EXCLUSIONS: No conventional oven. No gourmet kitchen experience. Please use the dual burner butane gas stove and kettle gas barbeque, electric stainless steel cooker, slow cooker/crock pot, and various other electric appliances available to you. No laundry or clothes washing machine. (we are in a rural location so there is no town water. Our water supply is captured rainwater which is in limited supply) There are several laundromat services available in Taree if you need to wash. HOLIDAYING WITH PETS Pets are welcome on the proviso that they do not pose a danger to the wildlife and other animals that reside on and around the property. Blue Hills Property is a reserve for wildlife, all wildlife at Blue Hills is protected. In the Kitchenette you will find: Crockpot/slow cooker, large stainless steel frying pan, toaster, coffee maker, electric kettle, fridge, microwave oven, jaffle maker, various cooking pots, kitchen utensils, crockery, cutlery and glassware. Tea, coffee, salt, pepper, oil, and paper towels for cleaning the barbeque will be located in the pantry. A Kettle oven gas Barbecue and a butane gas dual burner stove top are located on the internal verandah. Bedrooms: There are 2 bedrooms in the cottage which will comfortably sleep 4 adults ( ie 1 couple per room) or a small family. Bedroom One has a queen-size four-poster bed, wardrobes, a dresser, 2 bedside chests and bedside lamps, and a long mirror. Bedroom two has a Queen Anne double four-poster bed, wardrobe, dresser, and bedside lamps. Beds are fitted with electric blankets during the cooler months. Both bedrooms are fitted with a cool cycle air unit and ceiling fans for your Summer comfort. There is a spare room containing a single bed located outside the cottage on the verandah. There is no ceiling fan or air-con available in this room. The cottage will comfortably accommodate two couples or a small family or up to four single adults (who prefer not to share) All bed linen, blankets, doonas, pillows, and towels are provided by your Host. Bathroom: Basic bathroom equipped with shower, toilet, wash basin and cupboard. No bathtub. Due to our limited supply of tank water, there is no washing machine in the cottage. (see exclusions above for more detail) Reservation and cancellation policy: A nonrefundable deposit is required at the time of booking with the balance payable in full one month prior to the booking date. It is a registered conservation property bordering Nymboida River and Nymboi-Binderay National Park. Alastair and I have shared the property for more than 25 years and consider ourselves custodians of this precious place. Visitors enjoy: the pristine river; walking tracks through diverse terrain; starry night skies and campfires. Previous guests recommend staying at least two nights to soak up the atmosphere and explore the area. Choose from the 'Ant Shack' or four adjacent campsites with easy access and views to the Nymboida River. Shared facilities include a hot shower and composting toilets. You can walk, swim and kayak, explore the area or just relax for days. We can’t accommodate domestic animals or allow fishing, not even catch and release, because we protect our wildlife and the endangered Eastern Cod. Black Mountain is remote but just 60 kilometres from Grafton or Coffs (via back way). 2WD access to our house is from Nymboida only. 4WD/AWD from Lowanna or Glenreagh and 4WD/AWD down to the river/campsite area - Not suitable for caravans. All proceeds from Airbnb and Hipcamp are invested in the continuing conservation of Black Mountain.
