Platypus, water dragons and river rats all live in the river. Be prepared to share the site with wombats who have burrowed their homes into the banks. Road access to site is suitable for 2WD in dry weather. It is a short, steep drop with two tight corners not suitable for large caravans and RVs. The site has a newly constructed long drop toilet, pets are allowed and bring your own firewood to ensure you have enough as it's becoming scarce around the site. Please take all rubbish with you. There is plenty of space for the kids to run around, kick a ball, play some cricket, or go exploring along the creek during the day. In the evenings everyone can sit and relax in the quiet in front of a campfire. We welcome only self-contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower. The campsite is 2WD accessible with plenty of room and flat space to camp on. Not far from our property you can find the Bridle Track, which is very well known by 4WD enthusiasts. It was originally built as the first road between Bathurst and Hill End during the gold rush era, and was given its name due to horsemen having to dismount and guide their horses by the bridle through the very narrow sections. If you visit in November you may be here for the annual Marmalade Festival, with good weather, musicians, stalls and of course jams and marmalades! No pets please.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Wattons Airstrip Camping – Hidden Gem! What an amazing spot! From the moment we arrived, owners Damo and Tammie made us feel so welcome — genuinely lovely people, down to earth, who clearly take pride in their property. The campsite itself is peaceful and full of charm — we loved being able to pat the friendly horses and llamas that wander around. The river is absolutely beautiful, perfect for a quiet stroll, fishing, swimming or just relaxing by the water. And I have to say — the best, most imaginative deep drop toilet we’ve ever used while camping! Clean, well set up, and surprisingly pleasant. This camp ground is also great for kids. If you’re after a relaxing stay with great hosts, stunning views, and a touch of farm life, Wattons Airstrip is a must-visit!

1 night at On the Stone River Retreat

What a truly spectacular place to just stop and sit still. Nice big grassy area to set up camp, drop toilet with a 5 star view, the sound of the birds, the gentle river rapids, everything was just magic. Directions were simple and easy to follow and Marje is a warm and wonderful host. Absolutely perfect.

Absolutely amazing little spot, definitely a hidden gem. Campsites where outstanding, perfect distance apart that you didnt feel like you where intrusive on anyone yet had your own private site all to yourself. Friendly animals and outstanding host, Damo & Tammy are full of knowledge and welcome you like part of the family. Will be back and would highly recommend 👌🏼

Weekend Trip to Rockytop Family Bush Retreat

Wow, this really was a Great way to spend 3 nights away camping, the views we had were incredible, so peaceful too, a lot of wildlife around, emu’s, goats , kangaroos, echidna, wombats. The river is very calming and a great way to cool off,. Our hosts were the best, even offering assistance during a very heavy rainstorm on one of the days. Definitely mark this one as a favourite.

Great hosts..well maintained grounds. Great river campsites. A lot of different bird species. Horse's grazing nearby. Just spent 2 night's there and planning to return and recommended to friends..you will need a 4 wheel drive to get to the river sites.

It was a great place to camp with beautiful scenery. Really cool driving there with a 4wd, just try to get there before it's dark or it gets a bit tricky to find the location. Make sure you get to spend a bit more time as I was in a bit of rush and didn't get to really fully enjoy it as much as I'd love like to but other than that it was really good. Especially if you get up early in the morning is a lot of nature around and it's a very beautiful place.

Weekend Trip to Peronne Adventure Camping

Absolutely loved our stay! The place was beautiful and private which we loved as it was just us girls for this trip. Michael came and said hello and made sure we had everything we needed. We went for a walk to the waterfall unfortunately it was dry with no water at this time of year (October) but was still a beautiful trek. On the last day we had a flat tire, Michael and his son was so helpful with helping us fix it so we were safe for the long drive home. Plenty of fire wood was available which was also a bonus. The creek is lovely, had a little swim and the view from a little up the hill was even more stunning!! Thank you for having us we can’t wait to come again.
