If no camp fire would be a disappointment (and we wouldn't blame you for being disappointed given the camp fire is the main activity!), you are best to book for outside this period. Our 300-acre off-grid property backs onto the Barmah National Park. This forest, together with the adjoining Millewa forest, forms the largest River Red Gum forest in the world - it's majestic to explore. Our property is just 500 meters from the Murray River. From your camp, roughly a 1 kilometre walk through the forest. On our boundary is Backwater Creek, which fills with water when the Murray River is up. NOTE: Creek is often dry. It has water in it after environmental flows of the Murray. This can happen several times a year and the water lasts a few months. If you have any questions about water levels please ask before booking as it might be dry when you're here. We're located just 5kms north-east of Moama, where you can hop aboard a paddle-steamer, visit waterside wineries and soak up rich riverboat heritage. We offer a few large, beautiful, basic bush camping sites (the best kind!) in amongst 50 acres of bushland, with 100's of meters and trees between you and other potential campers. The rest of our property is used for cropping and sheep. Campers must take out what you bring in. Mobile phone service and internet is usually reliable, though with long weekends and summer school holidays the service seems to disappear! Completely. It has water in it after environmental flows of the Murray. This can happen several times a year and the water lasts a few months. If you have any questions about water levels please ask before booking as it might be dry when you're here. We're located just 5kms north-east of Moama, where you can hop aboard a paddle-steamer, visit waterside wineries and soak up rich riverboat heritage. WD Heritage Acres is a place steeped in history and charm, dating back to 1880 when the homestead was first established. Over the years, the property has undergone thoughtful restoration to preserve its timeless beauty. The homestead, originally built in 1880 and expanded in 1904, stands as a testament to a bygone era. Surrounding it, you'll find a traditional garden that reflects the heritage of the property. Our small farm is home to a lovely herd of Angus cattle and a flock of cheerful chooks, as well as numerous other friendly pets. The historic ambiance extends beyond the homestead to our property's unique buildings. These include an 1880 log cabin blacksmith shop, an 1880 log cabin fowl house, a 1904 workers' cottage, and a 1904 shearing shed. As you immerse yourself in the past, we invite you to bring the present with you. Guests should be self-contained with their own toilet and shower facilities. Please be mindful to take all waste with you when you leave. Furry friends are welcome, but we kindly request they remain on a leash. Brooklyn is a 6 generation working farm. We have plenty of space for fully self-contained parking. We also offer glamping and a tiny house available occasionally (view our other listings). This is a very large area in an open paddock with good access for caravans and large vehicles. You may well be the only people here though there’s is room for 10 vans. There is a view of the Broken Creek which is close to the property & easily accessible by a short walk. We’re are a 10 minute drive to Waaia with an excellent pub and the small town of Nathalia which has a supermarket, hotels, fuel, post office, bakery, gift & clothing stores & other businesses. It's a convenient and comfortable base camp location to explore this beautiful region. You'll be only 400 meters walking distance to the town centre and 50 meters from the cycling/walking tracks. Power and town water is available. There is a fire pit, with seating. And we are dog-friendly! We loved how small and private this campsite was, and being so close to Echuca made it super convenient. We had the whole site to ourselves which was excellent and made for a really peaceful stay. There was lots of wildlife and birds around us, and we enjoyed using the great communal firepit in the evenings. The host was very responsive and helpful throughout our stay. It is a little on the pricier side for a small campsite with no toilets, but overall we really enjoyed the experience.

Could I recommend this place? YES. Can I truly put into words how good it is? Probably not… but I’ll try. The family is so passionate about what they do. The care, love, and knowledge they have for their animals is incredible – especially seeing the kids so involved in running the place. The spacing between the sites is great, and the areas are nice and flat too, which made setting up super easy. As an avid photographer, I actually didn’t take many photos because I was so immersed in the experience and in their stories. Getting to handle the Highland cows was something I’ll never forget. An easy 5 stars from me. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Approx 400 acres, mostly open grazing land, 25km north of Bendigo, nearby the Whipstick Forest area. Camp in a restful, private setting, surrounded by a wonderful vista of natural flora and fauna. The property is a working sheep grazing farm, with plenty of wide open space perfect for campers. We have several camping locations dotted around the property. All the vegetation is native to the area, predominately Blue and Green Mallees, with patches of Gray Box and Yellow Gum timber. Eastern Grey Kangaroos are known to graze on the native grasses that grow here. A number of bird species also populate the area, including Galahs, Magpies, Choughs, black and wood ducks etc. Nothing beats waking to birdsong and distant sheeps bleeting in the morning! Whipstick Forest is approximately 3km East of us, and has several beautiful walking trails. Spring, with its wildflower displays, is a particularly spectacular time to explore the area. Campers must be self-contained, with their own camp loo, and take all waste with them. Pets may be accepted on occasion, but please check with the Host prior to booking as there are grazing sheep on the property. Inviting you to relax and re-energize, there are 4 Villas, each with a private garden outlook. Each villa has a verandah overlooking either a garden or a sunset view. The villas have a basic kitchen with cooking facilities, a coffee machine, and a microwave. The open living area includes a lounge and dining. Villas 3 and 4 are pet-friendly. Included are quality linen and bathroom essentials. The open-plan living area has split-system cooling and heating throughout. The lounge folds out to a sofa bed and we can also add a roll-a-way bed to accommodate up to 5 people. Sunset Villas is an ideal location for a family get-together or reunion with the accommodation, grounds, and BBQ area. Private parking is available on-site.
