Very well maintained. Obvious the owners take great care in presentation and cleanliness. Rick and Cheryl were very friendly but respectful of campers space. The long drops have no foul odour and pleasant to use. Best we’ve seen. We felt welcome from arrival. The kayaks were a welcome addition and being free to use was a fantastic addition.

Absolutely lovely spot! Perfect grassy sites right on the beautiful river with lovely swimming holes. Our dogs also had the best time playing and swimming. We had a lovely paddle up river in the kayaks and our daughter made use of the boogie boards having a float in the river. We will definitely be back!

We loved spending our time swimming in creek, doing a farm tour (along with feeding the animals) and enjoying everything else the farm had to offer such as fire pits, kayaks etc. Perfect for solo's, couples, families or even pets. The property is between two spurs in the Mt Banda Banda ridgeline -its a bowl. The northern section is temperate rainforest, the southern section is cleared with stands of regen and mature trees. Numerous springs, dams and creeks, plenty of pristine water. Wildlife is everywhere, yabbies, eels, frogs, birds, reptiles and marsupials including koalas. There are also horses, poultry and dogs, therefore, no pets permitted. Campsites are varied, depending on your set up and location preferences there, rain forest creek to high peak lookouts. Fire wood is freely available, we are happy to advise our requirements around any fires to be lit on the property. Weather changes considerably across the year. The current winter so far has been damp and cold, its the mountains, we get frosts. I think this is glorious and if you enjoy temperatures below 4 degrees, frosty mornings at the fire, giant sapphire skies, and crystal sunny days, then its prefect.... Possibly spring would be the thing? There are blossoms and blue sky, and the bees start moving. Or summer, forest swimming pools...... There are always dams, creeks, hills, forests, to explore, and also the rare option of doing absolutely nothing on a sunny afternoon when all that happens is one plane flies over, a far away silver streak..... The property has no functional mobile reception. High speed Wi-Fi is available free of charge, along with standard bush internet cafe facilities, (run down caravan, squawking geese, very strong coffee). We have livestock (currently horses) running throughout the property - some can be very friendly but please don't approach or feed them. We prefer no dogs but will allow if dogs remain well controlled, tethered or on a leash - this is for the safety of your pet as well as the livestock and wildlife. You will see and hear all kinds of wildlife, particularly morning and evening when they are most active. There are no amenities, rubbish or water facilities so come prepared, take what you brought and leave it as you found it. There is one only port-a-loo with pop-up-tent available for hire if required. Little Plain Hall grounds - a small rural hall and grounds celebrating their 100th year in 2023 and adjacent to the Ellenborough River with a number of bush campsites available. (If you are after more than a nice piece of grass and a flushing toilet then this property maybe isn't for you!) All sites are reached via dirt tracks that can be rough and slippery. Sites 1 and 2 are adjacent to each other behind the hall and closest to the toilet and the most accessible-more suited to caravans and those without 4 wheel drives. Sites 3, 4 and 5 are adjacent to each other on the banks of the river. Site 6 is separate from the others on the bank of Little Plain Creek but furthest from the toilet. PLEASE NOTE: Access to the river at sites 3, 4 and 5 - the banks are steep and though we have a narrow track down it is slippery. There is access to the river at other spots on the property. This open grassed area of 6 acres is 5 kms further on from the Ellenborough Falls turnoff. (We are not near Ellenborough village but in Elands- this is a somewhat common error when people look us up.) We are a community-run non-profit facility available to campers. All funds raised are used to improve the grounds and hall. Directions to find us: From the Pacific Highway either from Port Macquarie or Taree: Following the Brown tourist signs to Ellenborough Falls turn off/ continue straight ahead on Glenwarrin Road (don't turn into the falls). You will cross over 2 bridges. After the second bridge we are the next property on the right. Larger rigs are not advised. because of the winding dirt roads to get to our village. Enjoy nature while you’re having a shower in the cutest Bush / Bali style shower! The camping area is private, quiet, relaxing and free from large crowds and you will not be packed in like sardines like your typical caravan park! You can relax by the spring fed dam and look for Coy fish, lay under the trees and do a spot of bird and koala watching or go for a bush walk in the many surrounding trails. Dogs - We are happy for you to bring your fury friends (as long as they are supervised, dog and child friendly, well behaved and non destructive in nature) Please keep them out of the vegie gardens!! Please be mindful that the fencing is not dog safe and the property is surrounded by National Parks and Wildlife. Children - Please be mindful that although the dam is gated and fenced, it is not child proof fencing! Power - Each site comes with 240 volt 10 amp power supplied. Our property backs onto a creek with a small swimming hole, and the property surrounded by forest. It’s a very peaceful place, with lots of wildlife. We have lovely views, in the evening you may see some wallabies and their babies on the grass and at night the sky is so big and full of stars. Hardly any cars go past our road so all you hear most of the day and night is the wildlife. Some of these photos are of near by places to see We also live 2 Kms to Elenborough Falls and just 20 min drive to cascades called the Rapids - these are the photos you can see in the listing. Please note, the waterfalls are not on the property. But there is a little one at the bottom of ours with the creek. There is a little local shop in Elands. Or just come over and camp and enjoy the magical surroundings of Elands Although we are pet-friendly, we do have our own free-ranging pets and wildlife, including 3 rescued sheep. You are welcome to bring your well-behaved pet, but they MUST be ok with other animals, including the sheep. All campers must be self-contained, and we kindly ask you take all waste with you However we do have an outside dry toilet you are welcome to use There are allocated fire areas when there is no fire ban and 4 wheel drive is best on this property ... In the hinterland of the Mid North Coast NSW on Biripi Country. The Bulga Plateau is the place to unwind, swim in mountain rivers and enjoy the Old Growth forests (yes we still have a few left Balgarr means mountain in local Gattang language. 600 metres above sea level on clear nights it feels like you are close enough to touch the Milky Way! The cabin is off grid, includes a small kitchenette with 2 burner gas stove, fridge, has double bed and 2 single beds. We have a BBQ and fire pit. This is rustic living, no flash flush here but a practical long drop eco-friendly compost toilet and a fantastic gas hot water shower out in the elements! You will need to bring your own bedding, pillows sheets etc. we are on tank water and at times it is low! Dogs are welcome but please bring their own bedding. The property is also home to local wildlife and filled with lots of old trees, plants and flowers whilst enjoy your morning cuppa on the balcony As we are 45 minutes from the closest town, you will need to fuel up before you head up the mountain. Also bring drinking water and all the food you will require for your stay. The Elands general store carries basic groceries, beer wine and spirits. Loads of walking tracks nearby; the Legendary Ellenborough Falls is 5 mins by car or half hour walk through the Elands Village Hour and half from Port Macquarie and Forster and one hour from Taree in the hinterland from Wingham or Comboyne (coming from Port Macquarie). There is an endless network of gravel roads and fire trails waiting to be explored, taking you through the national parks, state forests and undulating farmlands of the Bulga Plateau. This delightful self contained cabin is a perfect getaway for you to work on your project, (longer stays can be negotiated) be it visual art; a book; a film script; photography or simply forest breathing to clear the mind. Blue Knob (Kaoraoa) at 1014 metres, is one of the highest peaks in the forest with Panoramic Plateau Views of the surrounding country. 40 mins by car. I'm retired now and appreciate even more, living in paradise. The usually good amount of rain, the ever warmer summers when we can swim in the Ellenborough River. Yes after 40 years on the Bulga I can feel the changes in the environment, Come and enjoy!
