Bandelier National Monument is a picturesque, water color like painting of canyons and mesas where ancient civilizations both lived and thrived. Visiting the 33,000 acre monument is like a step back in time; climb the ladders through the ancient village of Tsankawi or head out into the backcountry for multi-day adventures in the canyon. If time is of the essence try the Falls Trail to see a stunning cascade from the Rio Grande, or take a ranger tour in Frijoles Canyon. Those staying a night or more can set up camp in several campgrounds at Bandelier. This allows you to experience the completely unique and totally awesome Nightwalk, a silent walk through the canyon under starry skies. What a magical and unique way to honor the history and beauty youโ€™re sure to find at Bandelier.
