Farther down the road is the famous Blue Bell creamery in Brenham. The tour and ice cream are well worth the trip. On the property are miles of Jeep trails excellent for off road and 4WD vehicles. The cows and pigs are all rescue animals so, where as they are adapted to humans being around them, they are very shy and petting them is not allowed. We also have a hike-and-bike, nature trail that offers a 360 loop around the property. This small lake is one of three lakes in the area called "Cade Lakes". Great for catching crappie, bass and catfish. Kids enjoy watching the turtles push each other off the logs seen around the banks. If you love to fish, the greatest fishing lake in Texas is a few miles away near Somerville, TX called "Lake Somerville". It's a scenic drive to the Overlook Marina and Lake Somerville Dam. Several State Parks surround Lake Somerville, the closest from this location is "Birch Creek State Park" with beautiful hiking trails. Highly recommend the drive to check the Parks out. Also recommend visiting "Washington on the Brazos", the birthplace of Texas and is where the Texas Declaration of Independence was signed. It is also a State Park. The "Aggieland Wild Animal Safari" is outside of Bryan College Station and is a great place to take the kids to interact with all kinds of animals. Offers a drive-thru in which you can drive thru as many times as you want, as well as a petting zoo and gift shop. And, if you like shopping, there are lots of antique shops and wineries at Round Top, another scenic drive about 45 minutes away. And all the ice cream lovers must visit the home of "Blue Bell" in Brenham, TX which is only open to the public during the weekdays, not weekends. While in Brenham, kids love to skate at the historic "Silver Wings Ballroom", known as one of the best skating rinks in Texas!
