The vibe at Gateway Getaway
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
I travel with three small dogs and we were welcomed instantly at Gateway Getaway! This site has everything you could need as a camper. Firewood, a hospitality barn complete with coffee and sodas, a beautifully decorated bathroom, and even a washer and dryer for campers to use (it's a $1.00 a load and TOTALLY worth it)! The hosts live onsite with their dogs, who are super friendly and very well behaved. I had all the privacy I could ask for but thought it was super sweet of them to text me each day and ask me if I needed anything "from town". The campsites are all up front but the back of the property is 6 acres of trails for hiking and if that isn't your thing Beaver's Bend is just 5 miles from there. We had an amazing time and will certainly stop back by on our way through Arkansas next time.
Ashlie is a great hostess and has a lovely property. If you are looking for a place to relax or to use as home base while you explore all the different activities in the area, look no further. Additionally, this place is a puppy haven for you and your pooch where your dog will be treated as a star and not as extra baggage to be tolerated. She even has an outdoor kennel you can use when it’s too hot to take your dog out. The property is located right next door to a chocolate candy factory which has a shaded patio so don’t forget to take along some milk and pig out! Ashlie is so kind and generous. She has thought of everything to make your stay wonderful. She has things you might have forgotten in labeled plastic bins, microwave, keurig coffee maker, washer/dryer and luxurious bathroom. This isn’t camping–it’s glamping!
We loved our stay at Gateway Getaway. The sites are a little closer to the highway than I expected, but other than that the property and facilities are wonderful. Ashlie is a very accommodating host and all her little warming touches made us feel welcome and at home. The shared community space was wonderful for chilly times, and the trees were a beautiful backdrop. The swing was fun, and the sites well maintained. She had a stash of dry firewood ready for us. The bathroom was clean and warm and stocked with supplies. Ashlie was available if we needed anything. Would definitely stay again.
This was our second time at Gateway Getaway! We planned it just right for the last weekend of October to hit the peak of the fall foliage season. I've attached a photo of the spectacular golden canopy above our campsite! Ashley added an oil heater to the deluxe bathroom which was so comforting as the weather was a lot colder! We had a great time: we hired Mike as a trout fishing guide providing everything we needed to kayak to our fishing spot including waders and poles! And we went to the Zombie walk in Eureka Springs! Ashley is familiar with all the local trails and she recommended the best one for our friend who is a breast cancer survivor-had lots of benches and scenic waterfalls!
