TIPI SPECIFICS:  Come stay in our tipi located at the base of the red rock amphitheater in our peaceful little rustic campground. This tipi comfortably sleeps 6 people. We have 4 hammock cots and space for 2 sleeping on the ground.  You will need to bring your own sleeping bags appropriate for the weather.

ABOUT OUR CAMPGROUND: The Needles District of Canyonlands National Park visitors center is only 1.5 miles away.  We are 1.5 hours from Arches and approximately 2 hours from Island in the Sky.  You DO NOT NEED 4WD to get to our place.  Sleep with a beautiful wide open view of the Needles "hoodoo" rocks with the park only a stone's throw away. There is a bathhouse with warm showers and flush toilets.  There are several hiking trails in the area as well as bicycling & 4 wheel drive trails on BLM (public land).

This IS the Wild, Rustic, Dirty Desert, not for Everyone.  This is Camping & keep in mind this is a rugged camping experience not for the faint at heart. The desert is HOT in the summer and COLD in the winter, the weather is Unpredictable and you May experience our Wild storms...Monsoon season runs from July-August which is amazing if you are into photography. Be sure to bring proper gear for the rain (if we get any).

You may hear coyotes, see spiders, experience the annoying desert gnats at certain times of the day during the hotter summer season. You will want to bring bug spray, but if you forgot we do sell it in our camp store. If you stay with us you will get the experience of desert camping, wild, raw and rugged. It is an amazing experience to be had, with beautiful views and the feeling of freedom that is hard to find in more civilized and populated locations.

The rocks nearby are kid friendly, great for climbing and taking amazing photos of our fantastic views and gorgeous sunsets.

Hipcamp messages are the best way to reach us.  We are OFF THE GRID with POOR CELL PHONE RECEPTION.

We had a great stay in the tipi; you have a nice little spot to yourselves compared to the other sites. Though the cots were somewhat uncomfortable, especially for someone 6'7 with their feet hanging off.

Caleb was really helpful at the store and quickly responded to our messages. The place was super easy to find.

We wish they had a spigot so you could refill your water instead of buying theirs, but Caleb mentioned that you can do this for free just 10 minutes down the road at the Capitol Reef visitor centre.

Super easy to find. The signage was great.

Can't wait for the bathrooms to be upgraded this winter!

We climbed the rocks behind our site and watched the sunset; what more could you ask for?

Thank you, our water is not potable & drying way out in the desert where we are it's just not possible to get. We do however have bottle waters for sale. The free refill station is at the visitors center of Needles District of Canyonlands National Park.

Tipi 2 was absolutely adorable! I looked how it was nestled up next to the rocks. Even though there were other campers, the placement gave us privacy. I was also grateful to have access top toilets and a shower. Tent was very hot during the day, which the day was hot, but it cooled down at night. Also appreciated the picnic table and firepit at our site.

Really cool spot at the base of a rock outcropping just outside the entry to Canyonlands National Park. Beautiful views into the park, pretty sunrise and sunsets, and kids loved climbing around on the rocks. Hosts are very friendly and the little store has firewood and little extras for the stay. Will definitely come back to the Needles Outpost!

My husband, four kids, and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! It was a picturesque setting, with beautiful red rock mountain directly behind the tipi. Our kids were able to climb and play on the rocks. Our favorite part was climbing up and watching the sunset. The kids loved sleeping in the hammock style beds in the tipi. Amber was a great host - she called and texted me to make sure I knew how to get to the location and made sure I had everything I needed. She was very accommodating. I totally recommended this site, if you don't mind the sand. We will never forget this wonderful experience!

First of all you need to think that what will you exactly expect, this place is verygood if you need a view of million stars with the clear sky. Also the a horizon view that will stunninng you.
But what you expect from your place is just the bed, yes, you need to prepare blanket, sleepingbag, bedsheet and whatever you need for yourself. The shop they sell some food and daily supplies that you needed but dont forget to check the expiration date.

Great campground immediately outside of Canyonlands. We always prefer to camp in the national park but if you don't have reservations ahead of time or like a few more amenities, The Needles Outpost is a great option. We stayed in the tipi 2 for the convenience of not having to put up a tent the day before our backpacking trip into the Needles. Very roomy. The adults in our group are not sure if the hammock cots are comfortable enough for a good nights sleep. But our son was super happy. And with the rugs on the ground there is always the option of putting down a camping pad or mattress and sleeping on the ground instead. We would stay here again.

It was late at night, and didn't know our host was waiting for us to check-in (that was our fault and sincerely apologize), we thought it was self check-in. She knew we were on our way that evening. We finally got to our site, walked into our tipi and looked as if no one ever came in to clean and tidy up. I've stayed in my many hipcamps and bnb's and would not recommend this place if you're looking for a glamping experience. If you just need a place to crash somewhere, this place is ideal but just bring your own sleeping bag and you'll be good to go. We we're hoping to have a good night's sleep in a tipi, instead we opened up our rooftop tent and slept there instead.

We loved staying in Tipi 2. It was fun to be right up against the red rocks. My kids spent most of our time at camp climbing around. The hosts were friendly and helpful. It’s also as close to the Needles entrance as you can get. We had a fabulous time and my kids already want to go back.
