Wonderful spot! Secluded, wild, and with spectacular views. We had the place to ourselves and it was awesome. We will definitely be returning and/or staying at Sandy Valley Ranchâthey have yurts, teepees, covered wagons, etc. Timothy was a great host, very responsive, and helpful. Thanks!

We absolutely LOVE staying here. We are repeat campers, and itâs for a reason. 1) Jim and Tina are the best people, theyâre so friendly, helpful, and genuinely are some of the nicest people weâve met. 2) their spot is gorgeous and the campsites are immaculate, the bathroom is...hands down the best weâve ever seen at a campground (weâve been to countless others across the country) 3) itâs a reliably awesome experience, they accommodate with firewood (a TON) and even have pre-cut trees to allow for scavenging of some 18â rounds and plenty of kindling 4) there are beautiful vineyards that are proximal to their land, which they recommended, and we had a BLAST touring them.
We will continue to come back here, to 4000 ft Closer to Heaven, as our primary camping spot in the NorCal area. We are overjoyed to count Jim and his family as friends at this point, yet I would write this review regardless.
This place ROCKS!!
Site 9 - 4,000 Feet Closer to Heaven
in 4,000 Ft Closer to Heaven, CaliforniaBeautiful fall camping
This was, by far, one of the best campsites weâve been to! It blew away expectations. Jim and Tina have a beautiful spot here, and they were super friendly. We bought wood the second night, after running out, and we should have just done that from the get-goâJim hooked it up with a huge pile of wood. Covid-cautious and we felt as safe and secure as if weâd camped in our backyard.
We will be returning ASAP, and probably renting one of the on-site cabins next time, in addition to tent camping again. The cabins are gorgeous. Right on a ridge, overlooking a beautiful valley, with the sunset creating on the opposite ridgeâitâs truly magnificent.
The bathroom/outhouse was clean, straightforward, and seemed almost luxurious compare to other camping bathrooms.
Weâve camped all over, and this exceeds any National/State park camping by a mile. Thank you for sharing your gorgeous property with us (+ our 2 dogs), and everyone else. You guys rock.
See you next time! :)
