Past trip
in La Hacienda Chuparosa, ArizonaWe had a short visit, but greatly enjoyed our time and appreciated the privacy and tranquility of La Hacienda. Both Julie and Mark were very welcoming, accommodating hosts and full of useful information. This location is convenient to attractions like Saguaro National Park and shopping/restaurants, but still feels secluded and one could easily spend most of their time at the spot âaway from it allâ of they so desire. We enjoyed being close to the horse and other wildlife of the area and took advantage of the abundant firewood and awesome fire pit! We also loved the short hike from the property to a nearby creek. We wish we could have stayed longer to take advantage of other amenities like the bbq grill! We canât recommend La Hacienda Chuparosa enough.

(Dispersed site)
We ended up at SunShine Ranch because nearby state park sites were all booked. Iâm so happy we did because we had a truly unique experience at the ranch. Luba and Devitt were excellent hosts and gave us great advice on what to do nearby. We had a wide range of places to choose from depending on how much privacy we wanted. We chose a spot in the back of the property, far from the main circle, near a pond. It was secluded enough, but still an easy stroll to the common areas. We enjoyed being close to the animals and witnessing a bit of the ranch life, especially at feeding time and appreciated the bathing facilities and communal kitchen, equipped with everything needed to store and prepare meals. The ranch was within a 15 minute drive from Blue Springs State Park which was our reason for visiting. Unfortunately, it was a rainy day so we couldnât take advantage of the bike trail one can also use to access the park, but we would have loved to using the bikes available for people staying at the ranch! SunShine Ranch is a great place to get closer to nature without being too far out of the way!
Past trip
in Historic Cedar Dam, VirginiaThis was my second time at Kimâs place and once again, it was wonderful! The grounds are beautiful and the Fish House is a great place to hang out. My friends and I were equipped with camping kitchen gear but ended up taking advantage of the well stocked kitchen! Doing so made making our meals and breeze and allowed for even more relaxation time. Cedar Dam is a little slice of heaven on earth and I canât wait to go back again and again!
Past trip
in Historic Cedar Dam, VirginiaThis place was so special! This review won't do it justice! My friend and I went for one night to celebrate her birthday and we had the most relaxing time. Kim is an awesome host and helped us pick out a spot when we first arrived. Every spot was beautiful, but we decided to camp in the "bunny patch" in a shady spot next to the pond. There were a few other guests but we felt like we had the whole place to ourselves! The views at sunset were terrific on both the pond and in the meadow. The pond was great for swimming and floating - there was a row boat and a paddle board available for use as well. My advice - save some space and leave your cooking gear at home! The communal fire pit was equipped for grilling and the fish house had all the pots, utensils, plates, etc required for cooking a meal.
Katie hasn't gone on any trips yet.
