This place was fantastic. The sites were big and open, the host was friendly and accommodating, and the campsite itself was a blast. The kids were given a scavenger hunt to take them around the property. It was one of the most fun camping experiences we've ever had.

I wanted to love this site, and it was lovely. I was really excited based on the reviews I had read and its status as one of the top HipCamp sites. Prior to the trip we were told that the weather had prevented mowing of the sites around the pond, and I understand that there was nothing that can be done about the weather, and we were told a few days prior to arrival that we could stay behind the barn. On the day of arrival we tried reaching out to let them know we were on our way, we tried checking in and calling on arrival which were not returned. It is entirely possible that this lack of interaction is standard for HipCamp, and that it's just something we are unaccustomed to being new to the platform. We had also paid in advance for firewood that we were not able to use.

When Mary describes Marick Acres as her own little slice of heaven on Earth she has it exactly right. Their plot is absolutely beautiful, and it could not be cared for by nicer people. This was our first Hipcamp experiemce, and the bar has most definitely been set. Unbelievably friendly hosts, all sorts of room for the kids to run around in (we described it to family as having our own private meadow). If you are anywhere near central Indiana this is the place you need to stay. My only regret is that we were just passing through and couldn't stay longer.
Past trip
in Badlands National Park, South DakotaGreat if you are okay with primitive camping. The sunrise is absolutely awesome to watch from the hill on the west side of the site, it comes right up over the Badlands. Nothing quite like it.
Past trip
in Watkins Mill State Park, MissouriProbably my wife's favorite campground we've been to. Nestled in the trees, clean, easy trails to the swim beach. Lots of fun.
Corey hasn't gone on any trips yet.
Hipcamp Hosts can leave an optional review of their Hipcampers after the trip is completed. This is where those reviews from Hipcamp Hosts will appear.

in Table Rock State Park MO, Missouri
Seems to be more RV-friendly. Camping pads are very gravelly.
in Lake of the Ozarks State Park, Missouri
Great site, easy access to the swimming beach.
in Cheney State Park, Kansas
Pretty average for a state park, clean, easy to find.
in Fort Robinson State Park, Nebraska
It's a really neat site, but the flies are absolutely brutal.
