A little haven of warmth and relaxation.
campround/farmette' is about 2 acres (inside the city limits!), on a creek, kind of woodsy, and next to a pretty vast parkland greenbelt.
Recent flooding made quite a mess but it's still pleasant here.
Several friendly and permanent residents and farm animals.
Creek-side private campground hideaway available. This is a CAMPGROUND: NO RV, ROOM, BED, INVOLVED - BRING A TENT AND GEAR FOR COMFORT (check my other listings for an RV stay). This a "want to camp" campground and not a living solution. If you "need to camp" due to financial or other reasons, Camp EZ will likely not be a good fit for you. 6 nights maximum stay. Not suitable for very young children. Please include your child in your count. Campfires in designated area only with permission (burn ban sometimes). Bring firewood.
Community vibe 'round here; everyone is expected to be quiet and respectful of one another and clean up after themselves "leave no trace" style. Six night maximum stay.
Bring a tent and gear needed to be comfortable. 2 private hot outdoor showers, rustic kitchen and 2 charming flush restrooms included. Wood fired sauna available. Visitors are expected to clean up after themselves especially in the kitchen, showers, restroom and, of course, your campsite. Trash and recycle containers are around or, better yet, pack it out!
We are a 2 acre community on a secret and secluded little street 5 miles due South of the capitol of TX and even closer (2.5) to the very hip SoCo area (Continental Club, Jo's Coffee, Guero's Taco Bar, El Mercado and lots more). I have 3 cats, 11 chickens, 2 little donkeys and sweet 4 mini goats here at my little and funky 'farmette' right on Williamson Creek (sometimes flowing and not really swimmable) and next to a huge wooded greenbelt with a quiet and unused nature trail. This is not a KOA or a state park. This is a home hostel/campground. It's kind of rustic and we like it that way. You may see a roach, ant or cricket and you may also see a deer, fox or coyote. We are busy and not always able to visit for long. Lots of remodeling and flood related cleanup chaos here but also lots of pretty and secluded nature. Short walk to bus stop and historic Sagebrush HonkyTonk and Austin Bergstrom Airport is 9 easy highway miles away. Rustic outdoor shower/kitchen/privy. BYOTent. No wild or excessive partying here please and please remember: no smoking. WE NOW HAVE A COVERED PING-PONG PLAYING AREA !
Other details to note:
Street parking. Camping is a very short walk from parking lot. We have carts to tote your gear if needed. Sorry, this campground is not set up to be able to park next to your site. We do not supply towels, toiletries, tents or bedding.
Camp fire in designated fire pits only with approval. BYO Firewood. NO GENERATORS OR RECORDED MUSIC. Quiet time: 9PM-9AM. Please be mindful and respectful of your neighbors.

CampEZ offers a unique camping experience just outside of the bustling city of Austin. This eclectic campsite combines nature with quirky, rustic charm, making it an ideal spot for those looking to enjoy the outdoors without straying too far from urban conveniences. Guests consistently praise the community spirit fostered by host Jim and the variety of amenities available, including an outdoor kitchen, showers, and a variety of animals like goats and donkeys. While the atmosphere is generally positive and inviting, those who prefer more conventional camping experiences might find the site's eclectic nature a bit overwhelming.
Eclectic camp just outside the city with animals and an outdoor kitchen. Friendly host & tenants. If you want to stay in the city and have nature, this is a great camp!
Very "hip" place to camp... Beautiful spot. Fun eclectic things to look at.
Loved the goats, chickens and donkeys.
Fun kitchen amenities.
Great location to be close to Austin.
Jim and his crew at CampEZ are living the dream and they're kind enough to share it. Jim was unobtrusively available to guests throughout my stay, kindly (leant me blankets for an unexpectedly cold night... double check that forecast!) and his longer term residents offered friendly company on and off throughout the week. Beautiful place to slow down and recharge amidst the busy sxsw week in Austin.
Wow!! James’s little slice of serenity in the heart of bustling Austin feels like Central Park in the middle of New York City. It’s a breath of fresh air. If you’ve been in the city too long and want to feel that rustic charm, James has the place for you. Including real flushing toilets, choose-your-own-spot tent set up, accommodations like phone charging stations and a community kitchen, and decorations just like an ispy adventure book! My husband and I loved this quiet get away.
A wonderful location. Absolutely great host! Awesome people that live there. A lot of attention to detail on the design of the property. Very unique in every way. Such a cool place a lot of little things everywhere I can see why he might not want small kids for what they could get into. Love the 2 donkeys, 4 goats, few cats, few chickens, bunnies …fresh eggs 4 sale, outdoor kitchen, several bathrooms and showers…ping pong table..little house to do computer work and wifi. Path that walks along the creek off property in the back you could use for walks …This place is unforgettable! Would stay here again! Also would like to mention as a single female traveling I felt very safe and comfortable. Cameras on our cars outside the gate and no riff raff around for it being in the middle of a big city.
I had a wonderful time staying at Jim's campground. As many other reviewers mentioned – it's Ausint's hidden gem. The place is truly unique in its atmosphere, style, and, so to say, architecture 🙂 I highly recommend everyone who's not afraid of outdoor showers to give it a try and spend several days there.
I’ve stayed at Camp EZ multiple times and I will definitely be back when in Austin. It’s close to everything and the people are friendly. James is a great host and I like the feel of the property.
I absolutely loved this camping destination . I feel like the experience is one i will never forget. The place is a work of folk art. Its a mix of farm life and groovy Americana. I highly recommend!!!
Very cool, hippie friendly place. Wish I was able to spend more time there. I just needed a place to spend the night. Very eclectic. When I came in late there were multicolored lamp shades lighting the way. Might stay the night in one of the campers next time.
Truly magical property with a thriving community of artists, travelers, and free-spirited folks. Highly recommend for those looking for a unique, quirky, Austin experience :)
The place is great. People are nice and James was very accommodating. The private showers bathrooms and outdoor kitchen with microwave, refrigerator, toaster oven and full kitchen utensils are a great amenity for those looking to do the outdoors but still have a good home cooked meal. Stores restaurants and taco trucks are very close by for looking to dine out at the local spots. Very nice!
Very cool place. We enjoyed seeing all the little pockets of the property with antiques and animals. Lots of wildlife walking through the dry creek bed, but nothing really bothered us. We saw a coyote one night, and then woke up to a field full of deer. We loved how easy it was to hop on S Congress avenue when we needed to make a quick run to the gas station or to grab food.
Awesome place. 10 years of travelling the world and one of the coolest campsites I’ve stayed at. Trippy and wholesome vibes, host very welcoming and fantastic facilities. Beautifully lit up at night time. Highly recommended if you are looking fir a secret spot near the city ✌️
I loved camping here. The area has a lot of amenities that I didn’t expect. Loved all the cats around. I even saw a young buck in the morning. There’s a sauna, hot showers (with shampoo, conditioners and soap) there’s wash basins (with soap) some of the restrooms are flushable and all have toilet paper. The kitchen has most spices, pots, pans and plates you can use just be a good camper and clean after yourself. There a night view room with beautiful lights. I’ll definitely be back!
CampEZ was wonderful! We had the best quick little overnight trip here. Charming site, great facilities, and each person we interacted with was so so helpful and kind. We can’t wait to come back!
I had an exceptional time here. If you are mature enough for living in a community based environment outside, and meeting kind people, you will like this spot.
Unlike any Hipcamp or campgrounds we’ve ever been to! Super cool vibes and worth the money for the amenities (kitchen, showers, wifi, etc.). Would definitely recommend
My favourite spot to stay abroad so far. I love being outdoors, and this space is a perfect spot to balance both comfortable living with quality amenities and a sunny outdoor space. I'm looking forward to coming back!
