There are a few car camping sites here that are fairly secluded . The campground is located on the St Croix River . The hiking trails are nice . The pothole exhibit is full of tourists but the trails deeper in the park offer more privacy .

The hiking was peaceful in this park . Most of the tourists preferred the pot hole exhibit and short hikes near the riverboat tours , leaving the trails deeper into the park , more secluded and quiet . This park has secluded trails like this one , if you stay away from the pothole and riverboat exhibits . ( even those heavily populated areas are worth spending a few minutes at though ) I called this river , the Lake Minnetonka of rivers . So many people ,canoes and kayaks . I prefer BWCA type of canoe trips so I didn't even venture out into this party on the water but it was interesting to observe . I usually don't car camp but made an exception with this park . To my surprise , my site was quite nice with the tent pad nestled up in the woods . There were some great sites along the river too .
