Past trip
in Glamping Tent Overlooking Waterfall, New YorkSamâs Yurt by the waterfall is INCREDIBLE! The campsite is quaint and perfect for a quick weekend escape. At night time the lights in and around the Yurt make for a romantic view. Sam is a fantastic host and responded to all of our questions within a few minutes. He had ample firewood that he let us use throughout our stay. A couple of things you should know if you go during the winter time:
- Make sure to bring warm blankets as it can get cold. Sam left sleeping bags and a couple of blankets in the Yurt before we arrived, but itâs nice to have that extra warmth.
- There is a wood burning stove in the Yurt which will help keep you warm, but needs to be refilled with wood every hour or two.
- Alternatively Sam left us with an unfilled 15 lbs propane tank and it connects to a heater in the tent. You can fill it with propane at a gas station nearby, but you may want to bring your own propane in case the station is out of stock nearby.
- we ended up not using the propane tank and instead maintained a fire in the wood burning stove for a few hours before falling asleep. This kept us decently warm so we could fall asleep.
- If there is any possibility of snow or ice on the road I would use a car with 4WD or AWD. It can get hilly around the area. In better weather you can manage without these.
- Bring a bundle or two of your own wood in case there is snow/rain.
Thanks for everything Sam. We hope to come back soon!

Past trip
in Dreamweaver Pond, New YorkWe had an excellent stay at Dreamweaver Pond. Jo was an excellent host and provided a porta potty, table, and some firewood from the previous campsite guests. The site by the pond is perfect for 1-2 tents, but it can be difficult to get your stakes in the ground as there are a lot of rocks/gravel. Make sure to bring bug spray. There is plenty to do in the area and if you forget any supplies you can go to a grocery store within 10 minutes. I recommend checking out Woodstock and Saugerties for shopping/food. Also the kaaterskill falls are a short drive away and definitely worth the visit.

Michael hasn't gone on any trips yet.
