If you are planning on visiting Joshua Tree National Park, I 100% recommend staying on Davidâs property! With the wildflower super blooms and the year-round pull for astrophotographers, Joshua Tree campsites were completely full (including walk-ups) when I was searching for a place to stay. With no luck getting a site in the park, my boyfriend and I booked a site on Davidâs property just a few hours before arriving. The fact that he offers instant booking was EXTREMELY helpful as we needed a confirmed site for that night. Since we were going to arrive late, we were worried about keeping our host waiting. As soon as we pulled into the driveway, David was super warm, friendly, funny, and welcoming. He immediately led us to our site, offered a couple of short pointers on where things were, and gave us our privacy for the rest of the night. Our site had a fire pit, a picnic table, and more than enough space to set up a tent. One thing that really stood out to me was how well David did at organizing sites on his property. Though other campers were present, we only saw them on the way to the restroom. Outside of that, it basically felt like we had the whole place to ourselves!
One recommendation I give to future campers is to pay attention to your map when youâre about ten minutes away from his house. The directions you get from Google/Apple Maps are totally accurate, but we did not see a clear street sign before pulling onto his property. Basically we read â400 feet until turnâ and came upon an unmarked dirt road. (Important to note, we got to his property when it was dark, so we may have just missed the sign)
You will follow the road back towards the hills which may be off-putting at night, but I promise itâs an excellent location! Overall, we had a WONDERFUL time staying here and we canât offer anything but positive reviews!
