Camp Wild & Free
in Be Wild and Free, MichiganSpur of the moment.
Easy to find even though it is far off the beaten path. (Or is it an old well worn path) Great fire pit with lots of seating to watch the meadow and wetlands. Very quiet, but some light pollution from the east. Great for a telescope still. Primitive digs, so pack it in pack it out. Thanks for having me!
Back Country Getaway
in Olds Road Getaway, MichiganLarge fire pit with lots of seating and a great view of the grassy meadow. Quiet and secluded.
Peaceful Getaway on the Deer Ranch
in Taylor M.âs Land, MichiganPeaceful and secluded
The ranch is large, but situated right near town. Taylor is an attentive host who was quick to answer any questions. The dispersed camping is very rustic, but worth the effort. I'll be back!
Wooded Site @ Quiet Horse Farm
in West Wind Stables, OhioDon't pass this listing up!
We had an amazing stay at the wooded site. Picnic table and benches, outhouse, water at the barn, large fire pit, well manicured site..... I could go on for hours about the wildlife and serenity. Suzie is a helpful, attentive host that answered any questions I had.
Grassy Creek Side Main Field
in Our Haven Nature Sanctuary, IndianaBring an open mind!
Our Haven is truly a nature sanctuary. Leave the negative energy at home, and get ready to discover a positive feeling. HOT HOT showers, endless land to explore, and awesome skies for stargazing. The noctournal wildlife is amazing. This site is close to the entrance, pavilion, showers, water, wood shed, and playground. The firewood was well seasoned and reasonably priced. Mony and Mary are the kindest hosts. Their hospitality is unmatched! I missed Alex by mere minutes, but her directions were easy and correct. Be sure to read and follow the rules on the billboard, and pay attention to the signage on the property. No flush toilets, but the port o John's were well maintained. 10 out of 10 place. Was in for the eclipse 4/8/24. However, I plan to check their calendar and stop through on a festival weekend. I would recommend any of their sites, to anyone, anytime.
Peaceful Getaway on the Deer Ranch
in Taylor M.âs Land, MichiganThe wildlife is amazing!
Taylor's accommodations were amazing! Deer everywhere, waterfowl at the pond, butterflies and dragonflies floating all about. Taylor was responsive and helpful when I reached out. I would recommend this to anyone!
Site 5 - Camping with Nature
in Dancing Meadows Homestead, MichiganRustic Farm Camp in Magic City USA
in Stickley Family Farms, MichiganPrivate, quiet, and well shaded
Keith's site is wonderful. The markers and lights made finding it a breeze. Very private, I couldn't see any buildings from our pit and table. From where the road ends it was maybe 100' walk to the clearing. We heard the occasional car in the distance, but overall peaceful. Good stargazing when compared with the city.
Site 3
in Fisher Family Retreat, OhioQuick overnight rest in the hills!
The area was quiet even though it was moments from everything the Hocking Hills had to offer. Exactly as described withregards to toilet, water, etc. Location and site directions were spot on. Ms. Helen in the gift shop was a great source of information, and a pleasure to chat with.
We booked site 3. But when we got there, we drove up the hill to see site 1. It would be perfect for a camper or trailer, or if you wanted clear sky camping. Not much privacy, as there is a private residence just beyond. But big open flat site. After parking where directed, the site was easy to find. The walk down the trail was not bad at all. After 2 quick trips, all our gear for the night was in.
The site footprint for #3 was kind of small. Don't get me wrong, nice location. Couldn't see the road or trail, and you had to walk all the way to the far corner of the hill to see my campsite. But small for my 4 man tent with awning it was a challenge to get it in without melting. PERFECT for a motorcycle site or backpack camp. Truly an ideal place for a hammok camper because of the numerous trees. Being an unusually warm spring, the trees provided amazing shade. Literally 10 to 15 degrees cooler. All in all, 5 out of 5 stars.
Wooded Site @ Quiet Horse Farm
in West Wind Stables, OhioQuiet camping alongside horses.
Suzie and Mikes farm is amazing! The view from the back site was a beautiful dark venue for stargazing. The site was private, and the clean outhouse steps away. Everything was exactly as advertised. Being a horse rescue, we expected some odor. However the site was fragrant with wildflowers and natural plant perfumes. Their bench and table were large enough to accommodate everyone, and the cleared areas afforded many different choices to locate our tent.
Suzie was busy with guests, but Mike gave me a quick tour of the property and showed me where water was. I couldn't have asked for a better time.
