Past trip
Site 1 Tent or Car camper
in Solace Farm, South DakotaThereâs a reason why Solace Farm is top-rated in South Dakota: itâs a fantastic set-up with wonderful folks running the show.
Partner & I stopped for a night on our way to the Badlands from Minneapolis. The farm was easy to find, Cinda was very responsive and helpful on our way in and we were immediately greeted on arrival with a gift. Cinda & Popeye showed us around the farm, the campsites, the chicken coop and goat pen, plentiful firewood and communal space. We set up shop, started a fire and weathered a thunderstorm that was passing through overnight.
Wouldnât change a thing and will be back.
Past trip
in Sierra Foothills Ranch -722 acres, CaliforniaRiver Ridge is a magical place. End of story.
Brought 15 friends out, rented the whole place for the night, Gary had extra firewood stocked for us and was extremely responsive regarding a late checkout and making it work for our group. The pasture and pond are perfect.
Everyone in the group's already talking about making it annual trip. That good.

Bisbee Room in the desert oasis.
in Richcrest Farms, Desert Oasis, ArizonaDefinitely staying here again if I'm ever in southeastern Arizona. Jim and Diego were very friendly, gave me a quick tour and it was perfectly peaceful and quiet. There's a small town about 10 miles away called Sunsites for groceries and a bar. Outdoor shower and restrooms in the adobe structure was ace and the small converted store was fantastic.
Freedom - #1 HipCamp NM
in Shanti Community and Retreat, New MexicoExactly what I wanted: open skies, quiet, adventure, will absolutely stay again when I'm in the area. The road to get back to Kerouac is rocky (especially for a Scion like mine) but Shelly and Dan were both wonderful in offering to give me a lift out to the property. Tip: wake up early for sunrise. Majorly worth it.
