Past trip
in Austin Dam Memorial Park, PennsylvaniaVery nice campsites in remote area
Camp site#2 was really nice. Stream 30 feet from fire pit. 200 yards at least to next camp site (#1) couldnât see it from my site. Nobody there anyway. Had the place to myself. Brand new porta potty 200 feet away. Toilet paper and hand sanitizer! It smelled better than any porta potty I have ever been in. Large well-drained grassy area. Some trees but not enough to block the night sky (which was terrific Thursday and Friday night). Highway noise from occasional traffic, but none at night. Stream noise level was pleasant. Firewood provide was damp. With large amounts of gathered kindling I finally got it to burnâŚand I used a solo stove which is very efficient for fire burningâŚit normally starts right up. At $10 per bundle, they could at least throw some plastic over it to keep it dry.
I was 1 mile upstream from the dam ruins, park headquarters and the rest of the 6 campsites. Road into that area is dirt and gravel with one steep section poorly maintained and very rutted/eroded ⌠dam memorial park hdqrtrs was closed. Never did see anyone there during my stayâŚstopped in twice. Nice large grassy area for concert goers with band at base of dam ruins. Looks like a terrific place for a concert.
The other campsites below the dam are not as large as my site but still spaced way farther than typical campgrounds. Looks like my site (#2) was best overall considering I have a dog who loves to roam.
Past trip
in Sunnybrook Farm, VermontThis campsite is perfect if you want your vehicle near your tent. Mowed, flat area makes it easy to choose your tent layout.
The country road is very close to the site, but there is little to no traffic at night. Dave is right across the yard, yet the yard is spacious so you feel like you have the place to yourself. If you need help (which I did) Dave was available and lent a hand.
I highly recommend this site if you are looking for convenient access.

Geoff hasn't gone on any trips yet.
Hipcamp Hosts can leave an optional review of their Hipcampers after the trip is completed. This is where those reviews from Hipcamp Hosts will appear.
