in Choccolocco Creek Campground, AlabamaWonderful host, beautiful property
Johnâs campground was the first stop on my cross country road trip. When we arrived he rode over on his tractor to greet us. He chopped firewood, turned on the fairy lights that bordered the site, and directed us to a creek spot down the road where we watched the sun set. He was extremely kind and hospitable and let us know he was available if we needed anything at all. He even saw us off when we left early the next morning! His land was very private and as two gals we felt completely safe. The bathrooms, laundry, and shower were great and super clean. It was such a sweet experience and really set our trip off to a great start!

Homesteading Pond Site
in Taste of Homesteading, ArkansasRelaxing & lush camp spot
I arrived late at night after driving through a lightning storm and even in the dark the campsite was very easy to find. I woke up in my tent to the view of a beautiful pond and happy ducks waddling around the yard. John came out in the morning to feed the chickens and told me more about his homesteading projects and was extremely kind and communicative both before and after I arrived. He showed me to the bunny pen before he left for work and told me I could spend as much time as I wanted with them - I proceeded to snuggle every bunny that would let me. It was a great stop on my cross country trip.

in Our Desert Homestead, New MexicoBright stars & a watercolor sunset
Heidi was extremely welcoming and provided an in-depth tour of her beautiful off grid home when I arrived. The camp site looked out at the turkeys, chickens, ducks, and the mountain range and had a complete 360 view of one of the most glorious sunsets I have ever experienced. I got to roast marshmallows with her family before falling asleep. I would love to return some day :-)
Emily hasn't gone on any trips yet.
