Past trip
in Rainbow River "Peek" Vans & Tents, FloridaPaula was a welcoming and extremely helpful host, and this is an excellent place to stay particularly if you have a small RV and are interested in exploring the exquisite Rainbow River. There is a public beach on the river that is easy walking or cycling distance from the campsite, and you can purchase an add on to get dropped off at a river lunch site and get picked up again later in the day, and it is an extraordinarily good value at $30 per couple (including kayak and all the other equipment you'll need and your wristband for utilizing the river for the day).
Definitely take Paula up on her recommendation to peddle upstream a little bit from your launching point, and explore the shallow stream off to the right. The white sand below you is so beautiful, and you can see all sorts of fishes in the super clear water.
We saw a Brazilian turtles, and all manner of birds but we didn't end up spotting any alligators, nor the otters we've heard are often frolicking near swampy's, which is a bar and restaurant right along the river.
This is a relatively no frills campsite but definitely has everything you need, including a picnic table that's under a canopy so if you wound up with a rainy day you'd have somewhere to hang out beside your camper, and you can purchase firewood with your booking to use in the fire pit onsite.
Paula plans on adding some extra add-ons, including the opportunity to tow behind her boat and a tube up the river, which we definitely plan to do next time we visit if she's added it at that point.
It sounds like she's pretty excited about adding some glampy options at some point (she talked about adding an outdoor shower, etc.), And it sounds like you might have a decent chance of spotting some wildlife on her property as well.
We had an absolutely magical time here. It was definitely our favorite day of our vacation.
