BACKCOUNTRY CAMP AREA
in PTC (Closed), CaliforniaReturn customer! love it here!
This is our second time to this lil slice of heaven. First time we stayed in Mountain View. Now we picked backcountry 1 for a bit more privacy and wow it did not disappoint. The views are amazing. The sky always seems to put on a show when we are here. The drive in is fun (4x4 recommended) but not technical. The only downsides are there is no trash pickup and you can't have a wood fire in your own area (but in California it seems to be the same everywhere).
We love it here and haven't found anything like it in the area. We will be back again!

Past trip
Astro Camp at Liron Ranch
in Liron Mountain Ranch, CaliforniaPerfect stopping point for traveler
Very secluded but also very near town. Felt safe. Would definitely stay again! Art is also very helpful!

Past trip
Hawaiian jungle escape -4WD
in Highway 101 Haven, CaliforniaThis place is super remote. Very private. Amazing lush tropical vegetation surrounding the hut. The road to the bottom is not as scary/difficult as it sounds in the listing but it was pretty dry when we visited. If it was very wet, it could be difficult. We managed in a Subaru Forester AWD.
There are bugs. Spiders and mosquitoes to name a few. There was also a beautiful peacock that hung around the hut while we were there. He was loud but fascinating to watch.
There are no locks on the doors to the hut, so donât expect that to be an option. There are lights hung but they are USB powered and need a battery pack. Bring one (or 4) if you want to use them.

Past trip
Fire-heated jacuzzi #2.
in Stargazer's Paradise, CaliforniaWonderful. relaxing. welcoming
Yuliya is such a wonderful host! We arrived at camp near sunset. Easy to find during the day following simple directions. The host already had the fire going for the hot tub. She gave us a nice quick tour, instructions on how to make the hot tub temp to our liking, and then left us to relax and enjoy. She really is the perfect level of service.
Know before you go:
This is not a remote site. There are other sites near by and within ear shot. This is obviously glamping and with that, we were aware it would feel more like a campground, less like the backwoods. It has a very nice private campground feel with your own private hot tub! The road noise can be heard from this site. It is not a very busy road, but it can be heard.
We would definitely return for another round of relaxation! Or just to say "Hi" to this very special host!
Past trip
DORMANT (Now ValleyView Site 1)
in PTC (Closed), CaliforniaLots to explore. away from it all.
We had a wonderful time at this location. Bob has clearly spent a lot of time setting up this area for hipcampers to have a great experience. We arrived after dark and had some trouble with the GPS taking us the wrong way but Bob was very responsive and quickly guided us back on track. FOLLOW HIS DIRECTIONS. He even helped us with our lack of firewood and gave us a heads up about a meteor shower happening the night we camped!
Know before you go:
The dirt road to enter this property has several ruts and inclines that require careful driving. Passenger cars not recommended. We stayed on a night that the other sites were all empty and this gave us a very secluded and private feel. This may not be the same if other sites were booked as parking spots for your vehicle/trailer are within sight of other campsites. Although tent spots are hidden from sight, they are all within earshot of each other.
Arrive during the daylight to get the most out of this site. There are several fun additions to this camp that are hard to see at night. We discovered everything the next day when we were exploring and wish we had seen them the night before to take full atvantage of Bob's amazing setup.
We wouldnt hesitate to stay here again!

Past trip
in Zion Wright Ranch Eco-Camp, UtahWide open spaces. scenic views.
Such an amazing place. Very close to Zion. Affordable. No frills, but none needed.
Know before you go:
The dirt road the ranch is located on is not that bad, but you must be careful. Go slow and avoid in poor weather. We arrived after dark and the directions were easy to follow. The "driveway" to the property is lit at night so we didn't miss it. Fire rings/camp sites are not marked so they are not easy to find in the dark, but we stayed at the first ring we came to. Arriving before sunset would make this much easier. Plan accordingly
Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Past trip
in Death Valley Stargazing Camp, CaliforniaUnder the stars, away from it all.
This site was more than I could have hoped for. Private, remote, secluded. Amazing placement. Great desert and sunset views. Clean. Wildlife. Safe.
Know before you go:
There was about 7+ miles of dirt road to the site after turning off the highway, but nothing you need a 4x4 vehicle for. The road was well maintained when we drove it but if you are not familiar with dirt roads, go slow. We saw a prius on the road for reference. We arrived at dusk and as always, this site is easier to find during the day vs the night. Plan accordingly.
Things we would change:
Porto potty is pretty far from the bench site, but that is also a plus. A bit closer wouldnt hurt though.
A great option to stay near Death Valley. Would repeat this for sure.
