Past trips
Site 1 - Home on the Range Campground
in Home on the Range Campsite, IdahoPeaceful with lots close by
This spot is peaceful with a lot of access to beautiful rivers and lakes. The hosts are friendly and easy to communicate with, plus they have a pretty cool story about riding their horses across the country over 2 years (and I thought 10 weeks in a car was tough!). They keep the outhouse clean and the spot we stayed was large and quite with a pretty view through the trees. From site 2 you can watch their horses too which we loved.
Uncle B's Farm
in Uncle B's Produce Farm, South DakotaDonât miss this one!
We have been on an eight week road trip and stayed at a number of hipcamps along the way, Uncle Bâs farm really topped them all. The property is easy to find and has clear clean campsite areas that are not too close together. The washrooms were clean, had warm showers, flushing toilets, and lockable doors.
The views were amazing, with such wide open sky you can see a beautiful sunrise and sunset, which you can enjoy while strolling along a precut trail that boarders the property. Our dog had a blast playing with Johnny the resident Australian Shepard and swimming in the pond.
But the thing that really makes this place special is Uncle B himself. From the moment we pulled in he was an excellent host who went above and beyond. He provided one free bundle of wood to get us started and had plenty of more wood for purchase. There was an intro care package with sâmore ingredients, farm fresh eggs and notes about the property. He has a projector and for free plays movies or concerts at night (we saw an Eagles concert one night and Blue Brothers the next). Plus he has sodas and a movie theater popcorn maker that he just requests tips for. His dog Frankie had puppies and Uncle B let us hold them and check out his various peacocks, turkeys and chickens.
We only stayed for two days but by the time we left we felt like we had made a new friend. We hope to come back again!
Site 1 The Meadow
in Dwyer Family Farm, New YorkFireflies and peace and quiet
The spot was a nice break in our trip and the fireflies were outstanding! It was very peaceful and the owners were very friendly and helpful. The free firewood was a great bonus.
Eagle View Coastal Campground
in Eagle View Coastal Campground, MaineJust perfect!
Eagle View was an awesome campground. Very private and a lovely view. The outhouse was clean and the outdoor shower had hot water and amazing pressure (I never wanted to get out). They have a huge fire pit and beach access. Our dog loved swimming and running around the yard. We have been camping for the past 7 weeks and this is one of our favorite palaces we have been.
