Past trips
McCrady Acres
in McCrady Acres, MissouriWe visited for the 2024 eclipse and it was a fun experience. The camping is dispersed and primitive. We did find a car trail to pull off on and cleared our own site and built a firepit. If you're prepared, it's a nice and secluded time.
Beaver Lakes Campground
in Beaver Lakes Campground LLC., West VirginiaA perfect nature escape
John owns a little piece of heaven in a cozy small town. It was private and absolutely beautiful. John was kind enough to meet us when we arrived and show us several tent sites to choose from. All of the sites were accessible by car (though some need 4 wheel drive) and clearly marked. We ended up staying as high up as we could which made for an amazing view. We always had firewood, and we weren't bothered by any other campers the whole time! The bathroom and hot water shower were a total blessing as well.
The campground is centrally located so its easy access to the New River Gorge Bridge and Summersville lake, an hour and a half from Charleston, and only 2-3 hours from other attractions in the state like Spruce Knob Mountain and Huntington.
I can't wait to see what else John adds to his campground and we will definitely stay here again next time we come to Wild & Wonderful West Virginia. đĽ°
