Peaceful Hills Retreat, a family owned business, started in May of 2017. It all began when Jennifer’s brilliant brother booked a two-story home through Airbnb for Jennifer and the family for a week in the Carolinas. Their Airbnb vacation was a great experience, and she loved having a kitchen to cook in, while traveling with her large family. She gladly said goodbye to tiny hotel rooms. Linda and her daughter, Jennifer realized they desired to run a BnB, and watched the scattered pieces beautifully fall into place.

Situated just outside of Columbia, TN (one of the state's most up-and-coming cities) and right on the same road as our 11th President, James K. Polk, once lived - Peekaboo Meadows & The Big Red Barn are waiting to welcome you! Pull in, drive down the grass road and over the small creek, put it in park at the barn and go stretch your legs on the 4o+ acres surrounding. During the day, feel welcome to walk the serene meadows or take a cleared trail up the ridge to the treehouse! Don't be surprised to be greeted by all kinds of wildlife including deer, turkey, foxes, or our goofy, fun-loving Golden Doodle named "Shme." If walking isn't your thing, you are welcome to drive around (4wd recommended) to go scout out where you'd like to set up camp for the night. If you prefer more peace and privacy, there are two beautiful meadows to choose from which both reach deeper into the property. If you'd prefer the comfort of additional shelter, you are welcome to park and/or set yourself up at the barn instead (which is a little closer to the main road). There is power to the barn - providing light, 30AMP power for RV hookup, as well as an electrical receptacle that you can run your extension chords from. For the extra adventurous - you may want to take a hike up "Thornbush Trail," which follows the ridge right up the middle of the property and has beautiful views of both meadows to either side. Or, for a more direct route, take a walk right up our dirt access road to the upper ridge, where you can peek through the treeline for beautiful elevated views eastward toward Columbia. Our treehouse (in progress) is located right at the top of the access road. Though the treehouse has not yet been completed, feel free to climb the 20' ladder up the inside of the hollowed out trunk and pop your head out the top! It sure makes a great photo! Come back to the barn area in the evening to lounge in the hammock, hang out around the picnic table, or cook dinner and roast some marshmallows over the wood burning fire pit with cooking grill attachment (fireside tools & 1 bundle of firewood provided). One filtered and cooled 5 gallon portable Igloo water cooler will also be provided and placed on the picnic table outside the barn. One rolling 96 gallon covered trash bin will be placed inside the barn (please bag your trash). "Luggable Loo" portable compost toilet is also available for use inside the barn. Tho cell & wifi are spotty here on the farm, we will provide one walkie talkie during your stay for direct communication with the main residence, should there be any issues or needs that arise. On the flip side, privacy is respected and use of the electronics is completely at your discretion!

Thirteen years ago my best friend and I started a canoe and kayak company to allow people to experience the same things that we experienced as children.
We have met thousands of people and had opportunities to become friends with many of them.

Six years ago we were able to purchase this piece of property for the kayak company and watch it grow into more than we ever thought it would be.

40 acres Located in beautiful Dover TN 5 miles from Lake Barkley & the Cumberland River. Conveniently located a few miles from town, far enough that it is quiet, but close enough that it is not a long trip to town.
The property features a variety of thriving wildlife due to our fresh water stream that gently flows through the property year round. The stream is roughly ankle to hip deep depending on the area. The water is crystal clear and safe to play in if you have little ones. Walk along the stream and discover all kinds of fish, turtles, beautiful river stones and possibly see a beaver or 2. If you have Archery equipment, you can use our Archery Range.
The property is split by a 2 lane road. 7 acres to the North and 33 acres to the South. The smaller side is flat with many trails, fresh water stream and a gravel road. It features relatively junior trees and is home to a family of Whitetail Deer. The Southern side of the property features a mature hardwood forest full of giant white oak trees. Be sure to put on your hiking boots though, because there's a few Hills to climb. Three hills that form a beautiful valley in the center, with another fresh waterstream. The valley was once home to a 1700s settlement, so you may find some artifacts. (We just ask that you leave them where you find them.) Main trails are marked clearly with large reflectors for safety. We have large steel firepits in every campsite. So feel free to bring your own firewood! Enjoy a good book or nap while relaxing in a hammock. Swing with a loved one while over looking the fresh water stream. Walk down along the stream and collect rocks, feed the fish, or go for a dip! Currently our property is very Primative, whichever there is no electricity or plumbing. We do offer clean composting toilets & a locking gate at night for your security.
**Cellular service is limited in some areas. Signal can be found by the road, or cross the road and take the trail up the 1st hill**

Drive to camping location. First arrive / first choice of favorite of available spaces upon arrival. Spaces are not numbered or pre-assigned. Camping guests supply camping gear. No gear rental available.
Amenities: 2 community water hydrants, community vault toilet, fire pit at each site.
Outdoor shower - water heater setup summers after & before last forecasted freezing temperatures. Kid friendly. No extra charge for children. (verify not charged for children if selected.)
Camping location north of downtown Nashville on a ridge at a higher elevation overlooking Nashville. Camp away from noisy highways, convenient to I65 near multiple amenities, grocery stores, restaurants, coffee shops . 5 miles from three I65 exits. 14 miles from I24. 18 miles from I40. 18 miles from Nashville downtown riverfront. Uber or Lyft to Nashville available.
Check in & out times are flexible. Quiet hours after 10PM. If you're hanging out or arriving after 10PM.... keep it quiet for other guests.
Pets permitted under owner supervision. Clean up after pets, and do not allow pets to interfere with other guests.
Please be sure all guests know camping rules!
Do Not Leave Trash!! Trash policy is carry in / carry out with you for disposal somewhere else. Trash service is not provided as part of camping fees.
$50 trash disposal will be requested if trash left on property.
Vault toilet works on a septic system and is not pumped. Only place toilet paper in toilet. Wipes, feminine products, excess tp should be placed in trash can outside vault toilet (only trash exception).
Do not burn noncombustible items. materials or cigarettes in fire pits or leave trash in firepits. Only firewood or ashes should remain in firepit.
Do not use knives, hatches, axes, saws on live trees.
This will be considered damaging to property.

We absolutely stumbled onto a hidden gem with this HipCamp stay. The property was peaceful, beautiful, and felt like something straight out of a storybook. Huge wooded trails, wildlife everywhere, quiet campsites, and the sweetest screened-in sitting area with fresh flowers waiting for us when we arrived.
But what truly made this place unforgettable was the host, Ditte. She went above and beyond in every possible way. We were welcomed with a thoughtful gift bag that included homemade elderflower jam, fire starters, dog treats for our pup, and a hand-drawn map of the entire 50-acre property with trails marked out. She even brought us fresh eggs for breakfast!
The trails were gorgeous and clearly loved and cared for. We saw peacocks, toads, peaceful forest paths, and little signs throughout the woods that made the whole experience feel magical and personal. It honestly felt less like renting a campsite and more like being welcomed onto someone’s little slice of paradise.

Lovely spot. Communication with Elisabeth was great! It was so nice to have a quiet place to park in a pretty, woodsy setting and still be near the city. It was raining heavily, but it would've been nice to enjoy the fire pit and seating area if the weather were nicer!

We absolutely loved our stay and cannot recommend it highly enough.
From the moment we booked, our host provided clear, easy-to-follow instructions and welcomed us with genuine warmth and kindness. What began as a camping experience quickly became something much more memorable. We enjoyed wine and cheese together, shared wonderful conversation, and had the opportunity to hear stories from his travels around the world.
As a former chef, his passion for food and hospitality shines through in everything he does. He prepared dinner for us, and it was exceptional. The steak was one of the best we've ever had, and the ribs were truly outstanding. Beyond the incredible meal, we appreciated how engaging, knowledgeable, and generous he was with his time and stories.
It's rare to find a host who creates such a thoughtful and personal experience. We left feeling well cared for, well fed, and genuinely grateful for the connection.
We would absolutely book again and look forward to returning.

One of the best HipCamp experiences I have ever had. Property is beautifully situated on a large 3 acre lot in a rural area outside of Franklin. Robert was very gracious as a host, meeting us out front when we arrived and guiding us into the space which was beautifully arranged with a nice table and fire pit. The most memorable part of the experience, however, was the dinner that Robert, a former professional chef, prepare prepared for us! The opted for the Nashville hot chicken, which was absolutely delicious! Thank you, Robert for your hospitality!!

Fabulous location! Chef Robert was very responsive, the spot was really well kept, and it was so nice to have a home cooked meal on our last stop! It was near the main house but felt private. There was a concrete slab, power, picnic table with umbrella and a fire pit with chairs. He had chickens and very friendly goats! We chose the smoked hot chicken and sides from his menu and it was wonderful and worth the extra add on!! The care the hosts give to make you feel welcome is evident. Will definitely be back if we are in the area! Highly recommend.

This spot was super convenient for our event we were attending in Downtown Nashville. Could not be easier to get in and our of. Level spot, next to a stream, fireplace and seating area. We were dry camping, but I think there was power and water. It's close to the road, but we didn't hear any road noise. Couple of bars on both Verizon and ATT.

Very nice place to go and chill. Very easy to get to. The goats are sweet as can be. There is a swing, trampoline and rock wall for the kids to play. We chose to have Robert cook our dinner for us and it was beyond what I expected. The ribeye was so good and the presentation was great. He was super nice and extremely responsive. Even though you are in close quarters you still feel like you have your privacy. I would definitely recommend to others.
