The Secret Sanctuary Farm is a co/op located on a portion of Prince George Creek that has a double Oxbow or hairpin turns in the creek. This unique feature prevented loggers from logging the property. As a result, there are many huge old-growth trees on the property as well as a variety of fauna and flora. A truly unique blend of farmland. Including an assortment of friendly animals to interact with. Woodland, wetlands, and a deep spring fed fresh water creek that connects to the Cape Fear River. This is a working farm. Please do not Open any gates to the animals. The fruits and vegetables on the farm are for the members of the farm. Eggs from our chickens will be provided for you to use for breakfast. If you happen to choose a campsite with a kitchen. There is a coffee pot and all cooking utensils. There are four permanent 4 shelters on the property. Composting toilets. Showers are still in the works. All of the shelters have their own composting toilets. Small propane heaters are available for each shelter. The first 1gallon bottle off propane is free with your stay. it will last 5-7 hrs. each additional bottles will cast $6.00 per bottle. There is also solar, powered lights, usb charging stations, fans, and air coolers. each Conestego hut has a locking front door to keep your belongings safe Campfires, hiking, canoeing and kayaking. Kayaks, canoes and lifejackets are available for you to use free of charge. The only requirement is to have a flotation device on or in the boat. Lifejackets and paddles are provided Firewood is provided Some cooking accessories are on site. All the Wilmington beaches are within 30 minutes. Due to all inclusive camping experience. Our little private campground is a hidden jewel in the making. Each campsite is private. We are not a parking lot like so many campgrounds are these days. We are still currently working on infrastructure but are willing to host campers that are self sufficient at a reduced rate for now. We do have a fun play ground, hiking trails, a steam we lovingly named Alligator Gore (to keep the little ones out of the mud). We are pet friendly. Each site has a fire ring or fire pit. We have a full bathroom available. We have a small camp store. We have group camp sites, pull through RV / Camper sites and a few glamping cabins. Located only 40 minutes from the NC coast and much more affordable and less crowded. We are still growing so we do not have a pool yet but will have one in the future. We do have a kids and youth program with weekly crafts and other activities. Picnic tables are available on some sites. Almost across the street is a wonderful boat ramp and fishing spot on the Cape Fear River. Canoe down to a sand bank about a mile down river and have a romantic picnic. A Celtic themed restaurant, the Mad Boar, is just a 10 minute drive if you are looking for a unique farm to table experience. And Duplin Winery is just 15 minutes away with tastings and tours. Located just 10 minutes from I-40 off US 41 we are easily found. A diamond in the rough.

We carved our 43 acre horse farm out of wild swampy land in 2007 and finished the barndeminium in 2008. We started with Hipcamp 6 years ago and enjoy meeting new people. My husband is retired from the Air Force and works full time doing the chores. I retired May 2024 from being a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner at Womack Army Medical Center. I have a side hobby making homemade jams, pickles and flavored goat cheese spreads. We love the peacefulness of where we live...although the weather chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, guinea fowl, peacocks, goats and horses do get a little loud come feeding time. We have different sites, please read each description or message me before you book a stay. All the sites have an 8pm latest check in unless you've stayed with us before. With the cold snap we have been experiencing the RV water source will freeze up over night. Please message me before booking the RV. We are constantly looking for ways to upgrade or make our farm more fun to visit.

Weekend Trip to The Fern Getaway

We had a wonderful stay! Everything felt thoughtfully planned and genuinely welcoming. The hosts were warm and attentive, and we loved meeting the animals on the property, including a momma cow and calf and several goats. It added to the charm of the stay. A wagon was provided at the parking area to help move our gear. Incredibly helpful! Clearly marked light paths through the woods made navigating after dark easy. The fire ring was set with enough wood for our first night, and the welcome note, trail mix, water, coffee, and kitchen items were generous, hospitable touches. The tent itself was beautifully done—tastefully decorated, cozy, and well equipped with everything we needed. The king-size bed was very comfortable, as were the feather pillows. A heater kept the tent warm despite nighttime temperatures in the 20s, though winter guests may want to bring an extra blanket (we were glad we did). We traveled with our two dogs. The off-leash freedom was especially appreciated—it made the experience even more relaxing for all of us. We highly recommend the breakfast option. Alissa prepared a healthy, delicious meal of bacon, eggs, bread with butter and jam, yogurt with fresh berries and toppings, and the best oats we’ve ever tasted. The only minor issue was the distance to the loo in the middle of the night, but it didn’t detract from an otherwise excellent stay. We highly recommend The Fern to anyone looking for a peaceful, well-hosted glamping experience.

We had another great stay in the cabins here! We were able to walk some of the trails on the property and were very happy with all the amenities in our cabin. This is a perfect spot for when we travel to the Wilmington area, but want to be out of the city. Love that the cabins are dog friendly too!

We had a great stay in cabin 8! It was nice and warm on a chilly day, and had everything we needed. Beds were very comfortable and the space was very clean and decorated beautifully. This was a short trip, so we weren’t able to explore the property and amenities, but hope to return again soon and bring our dog!

Weekend Trip to JCO Campground at Lee Baysden Pond

Wonderful stay from pre-checkin to checkin to checkout! I wanted a quite relaxing but comfy stay surrounded by nature w a few creature comforts and the Cabin gave me just that. The view from the cabin is so serene. I enjoyed exploring the campgrounds w my pup and meeting some of the fellow campers. The Cabin is clean, well appointed, comfy bed w a splash of holiday cheer (based on when I stayed). Contessa is an outstanding host! I stayed on the grounds for my entire wkend stay but will checkout local attractions Contessa recommended during a future stay. JCO is a special place that’s easy to get to and not easy to forget; I’ll be back to get my overlanding on w my partner (he’s a frequent camper here). The JCO hype is legit!

Weekend Trip to The Secret Sanctuary Farm

Our time at The Secret Sanctuary was amazing. James and Sola were very accommodating for our short visit, making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed and more. They let us spend time with them on the farm and interact with the animals. We learned so much about the animals and how a farm works: James and Sola also taught us about plants that grew wild on the property and about their greenhouses. The camping area was awesome, a short hike from the farm it is almost a completely different world. The cabin was cozy and had everything we needed to sleep comfortably. James started a fire for us, brought all of our things from our car via four wheeler and made sure we had what we needed. This was one of the best experiences we have had camping like this, our only regret is not staying longer! Thank you James and Sola for an amazing visit, we will be back to see you soon!

Weekend Trip to In the Pines RV and Cabin Village

The cabin was in perfect condition and the amenities were super fun. My family and I (husband, 15 year old son, 3 month old, and two dogs) had such a great time. We need a local escape where we could "glamp", get away from technology, and make hot dogs + roast marshmallows over the fire. Pines RV & Cabin Village has everything we needed. My husband is not a traditional camper, and I grew up camping quite often-- & "camped" in the Marine Corps-- so we settled for a glamping cabin. I booked the Deluxe Loft Cabin; #6 and we comfortably fit all four of us plus the Great Dane and pit bull mix. The pool, dog park, front office store, and amenities had him sold. The place is pretty new. Quite a few lots were booked though. Many upscale RVs, some cabins were booked (but not all), and everyone adhering to the policies. Seems like a very polite and respectful place. I would 100% book again.

Weekend Trip to The Secret Sanctuary Farm

Words can’t express how wonderful their campsite is! The cabins have comfortable beds, there is everything and anything you would need to stay for a weekend or longer. All you need to bring is food , whatever comfort items you personally want. They have everything! They have grills, fishing equipment, kayaks, life vest, firewood, power to charge phones, bug spray, fans, grilling/ cooking equipment. This is a once in a lifetime place. It is such an amazing special place, tucked back in the woods next to a creek with plenty of shade, chairs , fire rings , shower , camp toilets, dock to fish off of. Plenty of catfish, bowfin, bluegill, bass to find. Each cabin is slightly bigger than the bed , it has solar powered lights that also can charge your phone. Private camp toilets, shower that is from the creek water , and the peace and quiet is unimaginable. James and Sola are amazing people, the nicest people you will find. Anything you need they are there to help. Their farm is a sanctuary that they tend to with animals that are kid safe , chickens, horses, goats and many more. The pride and love they have for their property for your camping adventure is worth every second you are there and every penny. Perfect for romantic spot, a getaway, mental health, whatever your reason is this is the place for you. HIGHLY recommend. The solitude and experience is unbelievable. Beautiful location and setting, fantastic host, gorgeous cabin. Peaceful and perfect. Went for stargazing, but it rained so sat under an umbrella in front of the open fire place, serenaded by singing frogs. It was surreal and perfect.

2 nights at Boho Hideaway

This was a great experience! The yurt was awesome and the hosts had everything you would need to enjoy yourself. It rained for the 2 days we were there, but the yurt stood strong with no leaks. I loved listening to the rain on the tent at night. The short walk to separate cottage had a fully equipped kitchenette, washer/dryer, and the bathroom was huge with a fantastic waterfall shower head. We had a small issue with the washer that just a phone call to the hosts was made, and they were there in minutes to fix it. It is located within 5 miles to the beach and was just a short drive to great waterfront restaurants! We will definitely be back! I highly recommend The Boho Hideaway!

Weekend Trip to Nick’s Nook

Nick's Nook was exactly what we needed - a safe place for my kids to play and explore and a comfortable, reliable place to camp for the weekend. After booking, I was immediately contacted by Ela, letting me know of additional amenities available by the date of our stay and important info to know. The campground was easy to find and located in a quiet area. Nick promptly greeted us upon check-in and showed us to our cabin. The cabin definitely allowed for the glamping experience with A/C, mini fridge, a light and lots of plug ins for my electrical devices, lock + key. The bed was comfy and place was free of bugs/issues Our site was rather spacious, with our own fire pit and firewood, canopy with picnic table. For my younger kids, there was a pool, new swingset, zip line, obstacle course, playground and lots of room to explore. They also had an onsite shower and bathroom + are 45 min from the beach. The neighbors at the campsite were adequately spaced from each other and we met some really nice folks, especially Nick and Ela's grandchildren. This whole family is so respectful and kind and easygoing. Also, there was a friendly dog and a few cats on site that my kids loved to play with. We also had record breaking temps and Nick brought us over a fan in addition to the a/c and ice pops. I highly recommend this site and we will absolutely be back again!

We usually tent camp at JCO Campground but chose the A frame for this trip. It was well worth it. The AC was blowing cold and the outdoor shower was amazing. Perfect for a couples getaway. We would highly recommend. And the the host were great as always.

I have to say, I was coming to stay alone with my 4 yr old, and I was so scared and nervous on my way there. Im from South Florida, so this isnt normal roads to me. Anyways all the bad was going thru my head, I arrived all overwelmed exhausted, and anxious. As soon as I met Liz, I felt a weight off my chest, and I knew I would be fine. Tom and Liz were amazing, I felt like I was with my grandparents after a few days. <3 My little one was petting the horses everyday, she would go up to them freely. Amazing place to be surrounded by animals. I look forward to returning again.

James and Sola were very nice and welcoming! We stayed at Lokis lookout and enjoyed the serenity! Feeding the animals was a nice welcome to the property, and a great way to start off a quiet camping weekend. We found it super convenient that there was lots of camping equipment for cooking that was made available!

4 nights at Cabin: Blue Moon Lake House NC 🏕️

We loved this cabin! The directions were clear- the exterior was so cool- so many places to sit and enjoy relaxation time or conversation. A double kayak was provided for fun exploring. Inside, the place was immaculate! So welcoming and so well presented. Cozy bedrooms, clean and well stocked kitchen. The upstairs loft bedroom was so comfortable- with a comfy chair to put your feet up and read in by big sliding glass doors overlooking a porch. Coffee out on the porch in the mornings was to die for. There were even robes with sleeping masks! My kids and I had an amazing time. Thank you to Anna for a great experience!

I had such a wonderful overnight “glamping” in this precious little house! I had some time outside in the hammock and also enjoyed a fire in the pit (with all things needed provided) after dinner. Anything I may have needed during my stay was provided, so no worries on this trip! The only negative were the loud vehicles kinda racing from the 🛑 very close by, but that’s all.
