We are the Maryland Health Society, one of the oldest clothing optional resorts and campgrounds in the USA.  Established in 1934, we are 100% not-for-profit and 100% volunteer run.  We have 98 secluded acres of wooded beauty, including cabins, RV sites with 50amp service, tent sites, swimming pool, clubhouse with kitchen and full restrooms, BBQ pit, 5 outdoor showers, 7 miles of hiking trails.  Bordering the Patuxent River, we are 10 minutes from Washington, DC. There is also plenty of water for fishing, crabbing and even a small, man-made beach! OUTDOOR POOL AND RAFT USE - The outdoor pool is closed indefinitely. There is a 4-person raft and a 2-person inflatable kayak available, for an additional fee per day. Both require PRIOR APPROVAL and a WAIVER to utilize.

Weekend Trip to Blackwater Tiny Cabin on Snakehead

What a lovely little weekend getaway. Just right for our Valentines Weekend 💝. Loved the extra touches like k cup coffee machine with cups and creamer shower shampoo and body wash, fresh towels and warm blankets. Glad there was a little fridge for dinner leftovers too. We enjoyed meeting the sheep too.

Weekend Trip to Maryland Health Society

The cabin was so comfortable and exactly what I needed. I spent probably half of my weekend enjoying the bug-free front porch, listening to music (and playing!), and just having a totally empty brain. The people, though - they really made the stay! I was welcomed into conversations as though I'd been part of the community for years. There was room to explore! The pool was a welcome surprise - I only say that because I'm not much of a pool guy. This was where folks gathered to talk, read, snack... whatever! What a wonderful community!

1 night at Blackwater Tiny Cabin on Snakehead

This little house was wonderful! It had everything I needed for my overnight stay and more! What a great way to spend time in the area visiting the many interesting sites and biking around. Lisa had everything set up perfectly and was available to answer any questions I had (like what is your goat’s name? And can I just help myself to these kayaks?). So conveniently located, quiet, and well adorned. This cute house exceeded my expectations!

Weekend Trip to Blackwater Tiny Cabin on Snakehead

The Blackwater Tiny Cabin was just what we needed. Although our stay was just overnight, it was perfect. Made an evening campfire outside and the view was beautiful. Very peaceful and relaxing. Highly recommended. The host was extremely helpful.
