The swimming is awesome and the stars at night will put you into a state of awe! In the area there are many family owned wineries in the area, most of them offering free tasting! It’s a short drive to Tahoe and the Marshall gold discovery site as well as the historic hangtown Placerville. We are happy to make suggestions for local hiking areas, like the Devil's Slide "Gorge" only a 15 minute drive but like a trip to mini Yosemite. The Caldor Fire was VERY close to our property and a back burn was initiated nearby the our house (literally 200' away!). Our property became a pivotal point of fighting the fire in our community known as the “Ant Hill Army”. Ask us about the story!

We have owned our 20 acre ranch for 12 years. We enjoy the peace and quiet and beautiful views surrounded by oak trees. We love hiking down to the river. Very private; seldom do you come across other people. Amador brewing, Solid Ground brewing and the world famous Poor Reds are about 30 minutes away. Learn more about this land: Renovated guesthouse on 20 acres in the gold country. 1900 feet elevation. 30 minute hike to the Consumnes River, with beaches and swimming. Great sunrises, sunsets and stars. Mountain biking available. Rock outcroppings for climbers. About a 30 minute drive to numerous wineries and the foothill towns of Plymouth and Placerville. The kitchen has a vintage stove with four burners and two ovens, microwave, toaster oven, and sink.  You will also have access to a full size refrigerator. Outside is a propane bbq with two side burners for your use. There is one bedroom with a full bed and in the living room is a trundle bed that converts to two twins. We have installed hardwood laminate flooring throughout guesthouse; some of the pictures show the prior cement floor. There is wifi, Verizon and At&t get good reception.  We use our phones for internet and streaming.  There is a 50 inch TV and dvd player. Bring your own hardware/cords if you want to stream from your phone.   We have goats  if you would like to feed or with. My wife and I live on the property in a house about 200 feet away. You will have as much privacy/interaction as you desire.  Our garage is attached to the guesthouse,  so I may need to access it occasionally during your stay.  We also travel so you may have the property to yourself. We do have two dogs on the property. The Australian healeris very friendly. The Anatolian shepherd is a watch dog so he will bark at you upon arrival and then settle down and leave you alone. You may hear him barking at night at any moving wildlife (deer, turkey, etc.). The last 4.5 miles of the drive to the property is on a winding road.  Please drive carefully.

Also the American River is another nearby beauty worth exploring. There is so much nature and beauty around our area. Frolic (property name) is a wild place with nature running the show. It is quiet and beautiful. Usually cooler because it is right on the water. The dock goes out to the 4 acre pond which is stocked with Bass. You will need to keep food inside of the Cabin/Sauna because we share the space with the animals that live here. The pond is shared with one other neighbor, so you may see other people playing on the pond or hear nearby activity through the trees. It's a great place to hang your hammock and bring a good book or birdwatch. Frolic has been an adventure for me in Saying Yes to life and the rewarding challenges it brings. I fell in love with the huge grama oaks, the pristine pond and the feral overgrown everything. It has been a workin' progress and lots of time to sweat, craft, pause and listen. The property is shaped like a pint glass, running north to south, with a lovely bowl the pond sits in and an ancient meadow up behind the cabin full of apples 🍎 and pears 🍐. Up the hill, a hotter zone, more exposed with its own beauty, where we live. On the occasion, one of us may come down to the pond for a swim, especially when it's too hot up top. We will be respectful but likely just need to cool down. Frolic has been a great teacher in reminding me to PLAY, relax and go with the flow. I hope you can find the same joy and rejuvenation here.

We loved our cabin stay and restorative time at the river! The cabin stayed nicely cool for the first half of the day. 2 nights at Coldstream Ice Haus

Such a great place to get away from the world without being that far from it! Fun little cabin that's well stocked and still has all the creature comforts. It provided me the perfect balance of a "camping" feel but with the necessities for the folks in my party that aren't great campers. We came in the summer but this is one of those places that I'd love to be hunkered down in during a big Truckee snow storm.

My three young boys, our dog, and I just got back from a truly unforgettable trip! This spot is an absolute gem, nestled in a really pretty valley that feels secluded and peaceful. It’s an incredible spot that you simply cannot miss. We had an amazing time playing in the creek, and the boys spent hours splashing around, racing their homemade boats, and playing hide-and-go seek in the surrounding woods. There are great hiking trails right nearby that were perfect for exploring together. In the evenings, we had the best time cooking dinner in the well-appointed cabin, and of course, roasting marshmallows under the stars. It's really nice having the option to either camp outside in a tent, or enjoy the comfortable and cozy cabin. The boys are already asking when we can go back. This was the perfect escape. If you’re looking for a beautiful and family-friendly outdoor adventure, this is it!

2 nights at Cosumnes River Somerset Camp

Stop looking! This is your sign to book this place! We stayed at Cabin 2 to celebrate my hubby’s birthday with our dogs! It has everything that we need! We would definitely back!Cabin 2 has electricity and has privacy even if it’s close to Cabin 1 but just FYI, it is beside the chicken coop and chickens do come out few times daily if you are bringing pets!We brought leash and leash line for our dogs and it worked out perfectly! It is close to the toilet and water source and they are also always clean. The cabin is kinda of in a higher level so make sure to bring a wagon that you can wheel down to the river. It is not too far but if you are bringing stuff and food, it will be nice to have a wagon. All of these notes and tips are given by the owners anyways so make sure to read! Lol! The river and swimming hole are amazing! This is a paradise! We stayed by the river most of the time and me, my hubby and our dogs had so much fun and had a blast just swimming, paddleboarding and being under the sun and the cool water! The river is not too deep or there are lots of spots that are not deep so it will be great if u have kids and/or dogs. The owners are also nice and they have the sweetest kids and the sweetest dog! They are always so respectful, friendly and cheerful. The owner even gave us some fruits from their trees. It’s such a quiet, clean, beautiful and perfect place for a quiet, private getaway. Please don’t ruin it and clean up after yourself if you will be visiting! Lol!

Weekend Trip to Boondok Farms

As someone who goes between camping, cabins and hostels to luxury hotels this place was a dream setup for me. Steffany the property owner was easy to communicate with and responded quickly. The cabin was ready to go when I arrived, bathroom onsite with a light at night time, no check in issues. The view in the morning was beautiful and had me feeling like I was waking up in a mini oasis away from the world. The drive from Sacramento area to the property was easy to find with the Boondok Farm sign leading the path up to the property. As long as you have good tires and your car isn't lowered you'll be able to drive straight up to your cabin.

As my first Hipcamp stay, it was perfect. Perfect location, easy to find. The surrounding forest was beautiful. The cabin itself set was very nice and cozy. We did our best to keep it the way we found everything. We couldn’t find a sponge so we weren’t able to the dishes but not many were left. It was a great experience.

Weekend Trip to Village Camp Truckee

Absolutely best family experience I’ve ever had!! This was glamping to the max! We stayed in the modern “cabin” tiny home and honestly, the highlight was the high thread count of the sheets and bedding! So luxurious! And they said pet friendly they meant it. Our little pug was welcomed with open arms and we had such a good experience. Some places will say a pet friendly, but then add all these hidden fees and rules. Not this place. Straight forward pet deposit and rules. We stayed for Memorial Day weekend and they had so many family fun events for free! Bbq, live music, bounce house. Truly a wonderful community and paradise. We are even looking to buy into the cabin for the summer. Now let’s get into location. Perfectly located in the summer or winter months whether you are heading to Reno to scooter along the river walk, hit up the waterpark in sparks, or head to kings beach to winter wonderland proximity to snow parks and resorts. 10/10 experience! Highly recommend!! Oh and let’s not forget about the coffee pods and fire pit and free books to relax….truly amazing!!!

The cabin is perfect size for a couple and had all the creature comforts you need. We brought our two dogs and they loved being outside and exploring in the woods while we enjoyed some porch reading. Host was responsive and friendly.

Lake Tahoe is the greatest lake anywhere! Giant rocks in this campground and the kids have climbed many of them. Beautiful trails and gorgeous beach. And that emerald colored water is clear and cold!

Highly recommend this campground. While we didn't score one of the coveted beach camp site - we enjoyed our site which was right near the Rubicon Trailhead. The beach was a quick drive down which was perfect for all our beach gear. Hike early in the morning as the sun hits the trails hard. Beautiful hiking, camp ground and super friendly staff and camp host.

Coincidentally also stayed at sites 37 + 38 with a larger group! Together, they were HUGE and very flat; we easily could have accommodated three+ tents at each site. Tons of space, and a water spigot right at our cars!

Love this camp, go early down to beach to ensure a spot to park. Kids love the crawfish hunting or just floating on the blowups great trails for hiking. Bring solar shower. Awesome

DL Bliss has several campground loops. The Beach Loop is by far the best, as you just walk down the stairs to the beach - no driving required. But, be warned - you have to be ON IT to nab a campsite in the Beach Loop - good luck!

Stayed at Upper Pine #37 and #38. Enough distance between camps for privacy. Drive to beach - walk down/up is too far to carry stuff/small kids. #37 was hot and dusty - #38 more shaded and less dusty.

All the campsites are beautiful, but lot 113 is slung between two boulders, providing the perfect space to sling a hammock or nestle a tent

Bears definitely enjoy people food more than bear food, and will raid open coolers or cars if they think they can snag some hot dogs. But don’t worry, follow the rules and stash your camping snacks in the bins provided and you will be fine.
