Lizardsniffer is a working horse farm with a variety of rental cabins and RV slips. We DO allow tent camping. Each RV slip has water, septic, 50 amp service and Wifi. An Amenities Cabin is provided for use by all RV site guests. The cabin includes a full-sized washer/dryer, a full bathroom with bidet, and an oversized jacuzzi tub. Guests must sign-up for a 4-hour timeslot. The cabin is available for use between the hours of 8am-8pm. Many of our RV sites feature private fenced paddocks for people bringing their horses or dogs. Horse visitors require all current paperwork (Coggins, etc.). Dog visitors must be social and friendly and thus are allowed to explore the farm with their owners off-leash if desired. The property includes miles of trails for hiking, biking, or horseback riding. Bring your own horse or experienced riders may be able to ride one of ours (subject to weight/experience matching with a horse). There is a small private stocked lake open to all guests of Lizardsniffer for fishing and swimming. At the lake you will find an amenities cabin called Glowy Bobber that has a full bathroom and outdoor shower as well as Kayaks and floats for guest use.

A beautiful small farm where we homestead. We have a large garden, including raised beds, and raise everything organically. No pesticides. We raise miniature horses, miniature Highland and Highland cross cattle, Kune Kune and Kune Kune cross pigs, as well as chickens and geese. We have a lovely 1+ acre pond in front of the main house, which is fully stocked with Brim, Channel Catfish and Largemouth Bass. This pond has a wonderful ecosystem and is home to Kingfishers, wood ducks, Storks, herons, egrets, and is a place where a nesting pair of Bald Eagles come for water, and an occasional fish. We have an in-ground swimming pool, and a paddle boat to take out on the pond. Whether you are looking for a quiet weekend get away, or a chance to experience farm life on a small homestead, this place has a lot to offer. We offer a canning class, making artisan bread, and a hayride (tractor pulled) around the property. Breakfast and lunch or breakfast and Dinner can be included in the stay at an additional charge. We have 2 large horses that can be fed carrots, loved on, petted, and the possibility of some riding. Gathering eggs, feeding the hens and pigs, playing with Titan the farm mascot (our Great Dane dog), or just relaxing around the pool, or around a fire pit, there is always something happening on our little farm. The lady of the house has her Serv Safe certification for preparing and serving food and has been a home chef for parties and catering for several years. We have been to Deerfield a few times now and we have always enjoyed our stay. Thomas is an excellent host and it is always nice to chat with him while we are there. The location cannot be beat, giant pond, great screened in game area/hangout area to cook in, eat in or just enjoy hanging out together. There is a outside bathroom which is great to have access to along with an outdoor shower. You have all the hookups for rving as well. You are in a beautiful area with open areas to spread out, let the kids run around, let your pets to stretch their legs. You are in the peaceful countryside where you can see all the stars put in a spectacular show, if there are no clouds. You will never want to leave! Thank you Thomas for sharing your beautiful property with us.

Very nice spot for campers. More for retired or working people instead of kids. We had a gazebo with fans and a fire pit. Our second time staying there and we will go back. First time we stayed on site 9 and this time 10. Only saw 2 other people out the whole time we were there. About 8 campers total there when we visited.

James has built an excellent rustic campground. The sites were close together, but not intrusive. The shower house and restroom were separate buildings with camp sites in between. Both were very clean and were heated rooms. The directions were spot on and James was an excellent host.

We loved camping here! We took our dog camping for the first time, and he was so sad to leave. He really enjoyed it and even learned to swim. We caught about seven fish in one day. Mr. Vic was very nice and helpful throughout our stay. There’s also a drive in movie theater about 20 minutes away that we definitely recommend.(the big mo) a fun thing to do while camping. We can’t wait to come back!

On the shores of one of Georgia’s largest lakes, life’s a (lakeside) beach at Mistletoe State Park. Head down to the sandy beach to cool off with a swim, bring your own boat to cruise the lake, or cast a line from the shore—the lake has some of the best bass fishing in the state. If you need a break from the water, hiking and biking trails lead the way through the surrounding forests, where you can join a guided wildlife walk or follow a geocaching trail. Campers have options, too, from quiet backcountry campsites to cozy cottages and log cabins.

Notable campgrounds

Best for RVs: The main Mistletoe State Campground has 93 tent, trailer, and RV sites with electric hookups.
Best for tent campers: The four Walk-In Campsites provide tent-only sites a short walk from the main campgrounds with magnificent lake views.
Best for glampers: The 11 cottages sit in shaded lakeside spots and have air-conditioning/heating, kitchenettes, and space for up to eight people.

Tips for snagging a campsite

You can reserve campsites and cottages at Mistletoe State Park via the Reserve America website.
Online reservations open up to 13 months in advance and can also be made for same-day arrivals.
Campsites can book up fast for summer and holiday weekends, so book at least three months in advance.

Summer brings the crowds to Mistletoe State Park, and this is the liveliest—and hottest—time to visit, with seasonal swimming at the beach and concerts, guided walks, and other entertainment held each weekend. Peak season runs from April through November, but the campground stays open year-round.

Mistletoe State Park sits 31 miles northwest of Augusta, about a 50-minute drive away.
A ParkPass is required for entry to all Georgia State Parks, and campsite booking fees also apply.
Pets are permitted at Georgia State Parks, including on most trails and campsites, but should be kept on a maximum six-foot-long leash at all times. Dogs are not allowed in swimming areas.

Mistletoe State Park Campground

Camped here in May 2018. We camped at Primitive Site 1. It is a short hike from the parking lot but well worth it. Site 1 is very shady and room enough for a couple tents. You can set your clock by the birds and definitely don't want to miss the fireflies light show at 9:00 every night. It is like nothing I've seen before. We were the only campers in the primitive area and enjoyed the quiet seclusion. There is an outhouse down the path a bit that was surprisingly decent as outhouses go. There is also a shower house and flushing toilet in the main campground which is a stone's throw from the primitive camping parking. Would camp here again.
