We are happy to make suggestions for local hiking areas, like the Devil's Slide "Gorge" only a 15 minute drive but like a trip to mini Yosemite. The Caldor Fire was VERY close to our property and a back burn was initiated nearby the our house (literally 200' away!). Our property became a pivotal point of fighting the fire in our community known as the “Ant Hill Army”. Ask us about the story!

In winter, there is no car access—expect a challenging ~5.2-mile approach on skis or snowshoes, with approximately 1,100 ft of elevation gain from the Rubicon–McKinney trailhead area. The traditional winter route follows the summer road along McKinney Creek past Miller Lake toward Richardson Lakes. Set back from the lake and blended into the snow and trees, the hut can be difficult to spot in winter. Once you arrive, you’ll have a simple, communal base for exploring the surrounding terrain—whether you’re heading out for winter touring and snow travel or summer hiking in the high country. This is serious mountain terrain. Please use extra caution: surrounding slopes are steep, avalanche hazard can be frequent, and conditions can become dangerous quickly when weather turns. Inside the hut you’ll find: • Upstairs sleeping loft accommodating up to 15 people. • Main room with a wood-burning stove, tables, and a kitchen area. • A two-story outhouse is approximately 100 ft southeast of the hut. The hut sits near Silver Peak in the Pole Creek area (north of Olympic Valley/Palisades Tahoe). The approach is a steady climb, with roughly 1,600 ft of elevation gain from the Pole Creek trailhead area. This is serious mountain terrain. Please use extra caution: surrounding slopes are steep, avalanche hazard can be significant, and conditions can become dangerous quickly when weather turns. Inside the hut: • Upstairs loft accommodating up to 15 people • Main room with wood-burning stove, tables, and kitchen area • Two small side rooms used for firewood and limited maintenance supplies • A two-story outhouse is approximately 40 ft north of the hut. Adam has a very nice piece of land, it is a perfect setting for what he has done with it. You get a bit of everything the deep forest to open prairies. The cabins are very rustic, I only saw inside of the Geronimo, however the others appear to be equal in quality. I absolutely loved the group cabins beautiful! ( from the outside of course) If you enjoy just unplugging and being in nature this is where to go. Make sure you do bring bug repellent. Thank you, Adam for sharing your land, with individuals like myself who just need a break from the hustle and bustle.

We loved our cabin stay and restorative time at the river! The cabin stayed nicely cool for the first half of the day. We brought an extra tent with us for the included tent site, and it was a nice retreat in the later afternoon. Noleen was friendly and helpful. We'd love to return one day! Thank you!

Stop looking! This is your sign to book this place! We stayed at Cabin 2 to celebrate my hubby’s birthday with our dogs! It has everything that we need! We would definitely back!Cabin 2 has electricity and has privacy even if it’s close to Cabin 1 but just FYI, it is beside the chicken coop and chickens do come out few times daily if you are bringing pets!We brought leash and leash line for our dogs and it worked out perfectly! It is close to the toilet and water source and they are also always clean. The cabin is kinda of in a higher level so make sure to bring a wagon that you can wheel down to the river. It is not too far but if you are bringing stuff and food, it will be nice to have a wagon. All of these notes and tips are given by the owners anyways so make sure to read! Lol! The river and swimming hole are amazing! This is a paradise! We stayed by the river most of the time and me, my hubby and our dogs had so much fun and had a blast just swimming, paddleboarding and being under the sun and the cool water! The river is not too deep or there are lots of spots that are not deep so it will be great if u have kids and/or dogs. The owners are also nice and they have the sweetest kids and the sweetest dog! They are always so respectful, friendly and cheerful. The owner even gave us some fruits from their trees. It’s such a quiet, clean, beautiful and perfect place for a quiet, private getaway. Please don’t ruin it and clean up after yourself if you will be visiting! Lol!

The Honeycomb Hut was amazing! My husband and I had a nice and relaxing anniversary weekend. The cabin is beautiful, you can see the thought and detail that went into creating it. The skylights, large window, and twinkly lights made everything cozy and peaceful. We enjoyed stargazing at night, doing puzzles, reading, finding cute little frogs hopping outside the cabin, and exploring Nevada city. Thank you Elena and Catherine!

I ended up going with the cabin. I’ll have to say… I really enjoyed my experience. Just a warning about the road. The roads are very narrow, no sidewalk, just cliff, and a lot of beautiful trees and gorgeous sightings. There are a few public lakes. Make sure to bring crocs or swim shoes. Dogs are allowed, but they’re just not allowed in the beach area, go towards the right side or the left side. If you have the privilege of getting this cabin, please make sure you do it on the weekends. There is more things to do highly recommend this for anyone wanting to decompress. The host is very respectful, patient and amazing response time. the great response time helped me feel comfortable.

As my first Hipcamp stay, it was perfect. Perfect location, easy to find. The surrounding forest was beautiful. The cabin itself set was very nice and cozy. We did our best to keep it the way we found everything. We couldn’t find a sponge so we weren’t able to the dishes but not many were left. It was a great experience.

We had a great time at the Serenity Cabin. It was beautiful and secluded in the woods with everything we needed. We brought a cast iron pan with us to cook outside on the fire which I would recommend to anyone in the future! The bathroom was a short walk across the meadow. The mosquitos were around but once we lit a citronella candle and started a fire they did not bug us at all (haha). We enjoyed activities nearby Nevada City, Scotts Flat Reservoir, and the Yuba River at Edwards Crossing Bridge as well. Adam has created a beautiful property that is very lovely and relaxing.

This is my second time staying here, in a different cabin. The property is beautiful and Adam is really helpful if anything is needed. Good walking and hiking and close to swimming holes. There is an outhouse + a proper toilet attached to Adam’s house for campers to use. Would come back!
