THE AREA: Tucked away under a grove of oak trees, and circled by manzanita trees, sits "Manzanita Cove". A secluded glamping site that contains everything you need, including a private (seasonal pond). This private site is provided with about 1/2 acre of seclusion and equipped with everything needed for an amazing outdoor experience. The total property is about 5 acres, but is shared with our AirBnB: "Julians Red Fox Retreat", which can be booked separately or together with our "Manzanita Cove" glamping site. Because of the shared space, we do limit the number of guests to two, and ask that you be respectful of the space and noise level when booking independently. There are several hammocks around the grounds to relax as well as a few short trails to walk. The property is about a 7 minute drive from downtown Julian and Wynola. WINTER/ SPRING GUESTS: Access to the site is down a bit of a steep dirt road, so we suggest that winter and Spring campers (wet weather) have AWD/4WD or park at the top and walk down. Otherwise is it accessible by most vehicles other parts of the year. Please do not stop on the hill when leaving. You will spin your tires and damage the road.

Weekend Trip to Manzanita Hill Woodland Camping

We stayed for two nights in the Safari tent and loved the entire experience. Diana was extremely communicative from the start. Due to high heat warnings, she even offered to reschedule our trip. Luckily, it was very nice and breezy when we arrived. Most of the property is shady so we rarely felt hot. Diana also put out an umbrella for us at the picnic table. It was very nice to eat dinner and watch sunset each day. We didn’t have a food storage bin so Diana lent us one. The Safari tent itself was very spacious. The bed was so comfortable and fit two adults and one toddler easily. There were many thoughtful touches that made the stay really easy. The private toilet was very clean and right next to the tent. The booking includes a clean bottom sheet. We brought our own blankets and pillows. At night, the temperature was perfect and didn’t feel cold. I’m very happy that I added the propane showers. Water pressure and temperature was just right. Highly recommend bringing a bathrobe since there is a short walk from the shower back to the tent. The location was closer to Santa Ysabel so we were able to enjoy all the famous pie places without the long lines. What made the stay really special was Diana’s hospitality. She was very patient and answered all of our questions since it was our first time camping with a toddler. We loved learning about the land and the habitat. Will definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to Lake Henshaw hideaway

We absoluted loved every minute here! Pulled up and Tom warmly greeted us. Showed us everything we needed to know. Loved our stay and would highly recommend it. Already texted some friends about it. One king bed and two twin mattresses were perfect four our family of four. We also brought our two pups because the property is fenced in. A fun and great escape from the city! We will definitely be back!

The perfect little getaway! Great place to disconnect… but not too much🤣I love being outside, but still enjoy having a shower, stove, AC, and nice bed to sleep in. This was the perfect mix of the great outdoors and comfort! Ken’s place was clean and had everything we needed to hunker down and enjoy the space. We felt so isolated and at peace without being too far off the grid! Would recommend this place to anyone and everyone! Thanks, Ken, for a beautiful stay!

Weekend Trip to Granite Mountain

I really wanted to dip my toes into camping and thought this was a good intro! I brought the essentials- pour over coffee, my fav kitchen utensils and pans; I love to cook so even when I go to Airbnbs I bring half my kitchen 😭. It was my dog and I first night and my mom joined for the second. She fell asleep in the afternoon in the chair she was so relaxed 😭. I would say if someone has difficulty with stairs and mobility issues, this would be a hard stay. I was worried about the heat but AC unit was great and nights cooled nicely. I loved just relaxing with a book and wine away from LA.

1 night at The Happy Camper

Wow, Happy Camper is the one! My partner and I had the most amazing time at Happy Camper. ✨☀️🌈 Davida is the absolute sweetest, so kind, grounded and caring. We miss her already! ✨ Ok now about the Camper itself. Perfect size, AC was amazing, super comfortable and supportive bed and bedding. The bathroom was clean, toilet and shower are great. Hot water when needed, water pressure is fantastic. Always thankful for a microwave haha. There are also lots of little details throughout that make it even more special. I’ll let you discover them for yourselves. 🧡💜✨ The outside area: we loved that it had some green turf, multiple areas to lounge, big fire pit and wood provided which is going the extra mile. The soaking tubs are fantastic! Dipped in multiple times. It was nice after our hikes and walks, and Frisbee and yoga. An amazing additional bathroom if needed. The stars at night are beautiful and the land is so peaceful with the best welcoming energy. And also lots of great wild life. 💙🩷✨ The land: The farm is so well taken care of, everything is so beautiful, the friendly people that take care of and run the place make it even more special. The smells and the fresh air are just amazing.🤩 ✨😊 Make sure to stop by their shop right within walking distance to really enjoy the experience to the fullest. We can’t wait to go back. Leaving more grounded and happier than when we first arrived. Just book it have a blast. 💜🧡💙🩷☀️✌🏽🌈😋

This is SUCH a gem. Absolutely beautiful, the kitchen has everything you’d need, the cabin is clean and cozy, the shower is a dream and easy to control, they even have the compost toilet situation down! The views were fantastic. We went on a hike suggested by Ken close by and it was just what we needed. Ken was such a responsive host, gave us plenty to do near by, and made the trip very relaxing. Will 100% be coming back.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely fantastic stay! Tom and his wife were wonderful hosts, and the property was clean, comfortable, quiet, private, and incredibly peaceful. We felt completely safe and relaxed, and our dog loved being able to run around freely. Everything they provided made our stay even better. This has definitely become one of our favorite camping spots, and we’ll absolutely be back!
