Description

Nestle into the Columbia Gorge rhythm--both unabashed and humble. This area is immediately photogenic, yet still covets a million hidden portraits. At Ainsworth you’ll find 40 full hook-up sites under the sweet-smelling shade of coniferous forest. Campsites are close together, but the scenery is lush. You can expect flush toilets, firewood and showers, but you can’t expect seclusion--Ainsworth State Park campground is well known. However, the quantity of secluded and easy to get to natural wonderlands in the scenic gorge area make Ainsworth a good place to hang your hat as you enjoy the surrounding gorge enchantment. For those that prefer more distance from urban habits, six walk-in sites and a designated bike-in camp area can also be found at Ainsworth. This first-come first-served campground is most frequented in the summer, due to its city proximity, so arrive early, with a back-up plan if you intend to go on a holiday weekend.

This is a lovely campground, but some of the sites are rather close to passing trains and passing cars on the highway. You can't see them, it feels very rustic, but it can be hard to sleep at night when a train whistles or a semi truck goes by. However, the forested greenery and closeness to Multnomah Falls are a plus.

Beautifully green and near many hiking spots. It is a tad close to a railroad track, though.

very close to the train tracks, lots of trains with whistles go by. It seems to lessen at night, but not entirely.
