Learn more about this land: A step up from glamping, the "Shack" is a rustic, bohemian 2-story cabin/ art studio on a property that was formerly a train station. The property has 3 cottages on it and is situated across the street from Cayuga Lake in a secret wild garden, but is a 6 minute drive to downtown Ithaca Commons. This cottage is not for everyone. It is a cheap option in a cute, very bare bones cottage. It is best suited for low maintenance, easy travelers who are looking for an inexpensive place to crash after a long day of exploring. Guests who stay in the Shack share the bathroom in the main house with me - the bathroom has a separate entrance from the one I use in the main house. The cabin consists of 2 rooms - the upstairs has a double sized futon and a single futon mattress that can be used for guests, and the downstairs is a lounge/studio area. Note that the bedroom is accesses via a ladder type staircase. Definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but for the right fit it is the perfect home base to explore Ithaca's many spenders, ideally located across the street from Stewart Park and the trailhead to the Cayuga Waterfront Trail. and a short walk to the Stewart Park/downtown bus line and the East Shore swimming beach. Note, there is a cat who lives on the property and he sometimes comes to visit this studio. I see guests inviting him in occasionally to visit.     Great Place to spend a night while visiting the area. Very cute cabin, comfy bed, had keurig coffee maker and some pods, lots of parking... highly recommend.

    We loved the small rustic cottage and our stay. Wylie has a lovely cat named Blue who was adorable. We enjoyed petting him. It’s a nice property overlooking the lake. The only downside was we didn’t have access to wifi and as we didn’t have our networks, it was a little difficult. Also, a sink in the cottage would be a great addition even if no washroom. Overall a cozy stay!

    Beautiful space! My family and I had a wonderful time. Definitely a step up from “glamping”, highly recommend! Also, we all loved Bleu the cat 😻
