Chenango Valley State Park Campground

Yeah, sure, there are warblers, nut hatches, thrushes, and woodpeckers to be spotted along the woodland trails, and heron, ducks, and kingfishers lounging lakeside. And yes, those who enjoy fishing (or just swimming along sealife) may find trout, bass, perch, and bullhead. Golf enthusiasts can take a swing at the onsite 18-hole course, and there's plenty of room for everyone to be a happy camper. But the real star of Chenango Valley State Park is its two kettle lakes, Lily and Chenango, which were created when the last glacier retreated and left behind huge chunks of buried ice which melted to form the lakes and bog. Visiting Chenango may not be a literal trip back to the ice age, but a dip in these glacial lakes will leave you feeling rejuvenated.
