I brought a backpack with everything I needed, set up camp, first on the hill (awakening to a vibrant sunrise view) and then into the forest by a stream. I spent 3 nights and never left the property. I wandered through old forest with giant white pines and soft needles underneath. I followed a winding stream up into the hills, and even found a small secluded pool of icy water under one of the many small waterfalls. (I couldn’t resist a bracingly cold .immersion.) I got lost in the woods and was thrilled to see my first porcupine scritching its way up a tree! It was a spiritual experience sitting cross legged on the wooded hill and breathing in the peacefulness, listening to the gentle rustle of the leaves. I was craving healing solitude and I feel so grateful to have found it here. Thank you Joseph for sharing your land. I hope that others find their way there and experience their own peace.

Joe's land is truly magical. Rolling hills made full with goldenrod and pollinators; a pond reflecting the sky above fills with fog each morning. Maintained trails traverse both field and forest, allowing for as wild of an experience as one wishes to venture for. The creek bed held very little water during our Labor Day weekend visit, but, even with the waterfall only trickling, the beauty of the mossy stones and small pools wasn't lost. The sauna was a lovely reprieve from the chill of the morning dew ~ we used it twice during our stay! Although there were campers in the cabins adjacent on the land, we were incredibly secluded and felt alone the entire time.

Joseph was so friendly & welcoming. He answered all of our questions in a timely manner & was always willing to help us out. Joseph had told us where all the amenities were & we utilized the outdoor shower, nearby the bathrooms, as well as washing some dishes inside the pavilion. The water was warm & it was such a nice little convenience to have (it is a walk away from the campsite so we just drove down & parked in the lot). After reading past reviews, as well as Joseph’s own words, if you have a 4x4 or an SUV with AWD, it’s not problem going up to the campsite nearby the pond. However, if you don’t, it might be a trek up with your stuff. I would highly recommend the spot bc we had a gorgeous view waking up in the morning & fell asleep under a starlit sky. VERY natural, I love the spot. But my wife and my friend said they feel that spot was too wild for them. We have to move to the site near the bathroom and bulidings. I would like to go to explore there one time in the future.

Beautiful site in the meadow at the top of the hill. A bit of a walk up, I would pack light. But the view is well worth the walk. It is also a good distance from the restrooms. Again, well worth it for the beautiful site. Sauna also works well.

The campsite was beautiful! Listening to the frogs croak while going to bed and seeing all the fireflies all around us was beautiful. However it is difficult to figure out where the amenities are. A simple map would have made our life easier finding the toilets and shower. As the other reviews stated bring a wagon to bring all your stuff up the hill. It is a serious hike up hill to the campsite. You don’t want to be doing more than one trip. I’m sure you can swim in the pond but we noticed a lot of poison ivy in the uncut areas of grass and snakes in the area so we didn’t end up swimming. It’s about 30 minutes from Corning and Watkins Glen which we liked.

Joseph was a phenomenal host and his property is stunning! We loved the upper campsite by the pond very much. We didn’t use the kitchen but the shower was great with plenty of hot water. Net time I’m in the area, I will book Rune Hill again happily!

My partner and I camped by the pond for 3 nights. It was beautiful. Having a fire pit and table was nice. There was also a shared outdoor kitchen and shower which were rustic and clean and super useful. The outhouses were clean as well.
We didn’t use the trails as we spent most of our time exploring Ithaca and Watkins Glenn which were fairly short drives away.
We drove up easily to the site in our small crossover.
I would stay here again and recommend it to friends.

We loved camping out by the pond. Incredible views and the entire property is like a bird sanctuary. The haul up the hill is a lot so be prepared if you are wanting camp in that spot. Otherwise, Incredible experience and seemingly unlimited trails to explore and relax. Our 2nd trip and we'll be back for more in the future. Thanks Joseph!

If you need space, you got it. If you want friendly conversation, you got it. Woods, trails, fields, creeks, hills, plants, wild and domestic animals. Total rough woods with a full kitchen and showers. You really can’t ask for more. I’ll be back asap

The land was magical. We tent camped next to the pond nestled between mountains. Staying in early September, we had fields of goldenrod and fall wildflowers. I have never seen stars so clearly, and the sun rises and sun sets were breathtaking as well. We saw two bald eagles, and were delighted when we awoke one morning to thousands of dragonflies filling the fields. The early mornings were lovely, waking up to heavy fog settled and then watching it move across the land as the sun got higher in the sky. We took the opportunity to walk the property which is so excellently maintained. The creek was full of fossils and was very fun for the kids too explore. Joe is a wonderful host, very welcoming and kind and he even took the kids to meet the animals on his farmstead which was a big highlight! The kitchen area was stocked with all the amenities you need, and even has a screened in dining area. I can't recommend this camp enough!

Beautiful, well-kept camping area. Visiting a campsite on someone's personal property usually has the advantages of the owner's taking pride in keeping the site well-maintained and as enjoyable an experience for campers as possible. This was certainly no exception. Joseph was friendly and helpful, but mostly left us to enjoy the site on our own.
Couldn't have asked for anything more - it even had some newer toilet and shower stalls (immaculate) and an outdoor kitchen (enclosed)!
Just be prepared for a little bit of walking - we overpacked our cooler, and it was a little tough carrying it to the site from the car. But it was nice not being so close to everything, including the car.
FANTASTIC stay. DEFINITELY will go back if we're in the area again.

This was the most peaceful and campsite with the most beautiful country views I've ever had. We set-up by the pond and had fantastic views of the surrounding hills and valley. Great weather and watching the moonrise was a bonus. We had to pack everything in but the views made it all worthwhile. Definitely recommend if you are considering a stay here.

Joe couldn’t be nicer! His property is lush and green, and he’s prepared it well for tent camping with enough space to give everyone some privacy. The outhouses are spotless, and the kitchen and fire pit (though we didn’t use them) were nice touches.

This was an amazing place to spend a weekend! Private spot to pitch a tent, surrounded by beautiful hills, very nice bathroom and kitchen, fun hiking trails. Just what we needed during these crazy times we are living in - peaceful relaxation. I'm already planning a return trip!
